The SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit for the following posts:
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

- Data Entry Operator (DEO)
The exam has two stages:
- Tier I – Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Tier II – Skill Test/Typing Test

💻 Tier II: Skill Test / Typing Test
This stage is qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify in Tier I are shortlisted for Tier II based on post preference.
✍️ Typing Test (For LDC, JSA, PA/SA)
- Typing Speed (English): 35 words per minute
- Typing Speed (Hindi): 30 words per minute
- Test Duration: 10 minutes
- Medium: English or Hindi (as opted by candidate)
⌨️ Skill Test (For Data Entry Operator – DEO)
- Data Entry Speed: 8,000 key depressions per hour
- Duration: 15 minutes
- For DEO in CAG/MEA: 15,000 key depressions per hour
📌 Key Highlights
- Tier I marks are used for final selection.
- Tier II is only qualifying; no marks added to final merit.
- Document verification is done after Tier II.
- CBT is conducted in English, Hindi, and regional languages.
