The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has officially released the Admit Card (Hall Ticket) for the Written Examination under the Jharkhand Excise Constable Competitive Examination (JECCE) 2023 via Notice No. 30 dated 3 April 2026. The admit card was made available for download on 9 April 2026 at jssc.jharkhand.gov.in. The written examination is scheduled on 12 April 2026 across multiple designated centres in Jharkhand. This written test is the second stage of a three-stage selection process — candidates who successfully cleared the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) are eligible to appear for this written examination. JECCE-2023 is a recruitment drive for 583 posts of Excise Constable in the Jharkhand Excise Department under Advertisement No. 06/2023. The written exam comprises three papers totalling 340 questions (1020 marks), each of 2 hours duration — Paper-I tests language skills (Hindi and English), Paper-II tests regional language proficiency (one language of candidate's choice), and Paper-III tests General Knowledge, Jharkhand GK, General Science, and Basic Mathematics. Each correct answer carries 3 marks and each wrong answer attracts a penalty of 1 mark. Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card (digital/phone copies are not accepted) along with a valid government-issued photo identity proof. The admit card download link requires the candidate's Registration Number and Date of Birth.

Print in A4 Size — Black & White is Acceptable
Take a clear printed copy of the admit card on A4 size paper. Black and white printing is acceptable — colour print is not mandatory. Ensure the photograph, barcode (if any), and all text are clearly legible. Do not write or stamp on the admit card. Print at least 2–3 copies — keep one for the exam centre and extras as backups. The printed admit card is the only accepted form of entry — a digital copy displayed on a phone or tablet is NOT permitted inside the examination hall.
Verify All Details on the Admit Card
Check every detail on the printed admit card: Name (must match your ID proof), Father's Name, Category, Roll Number, Exam Centre Name and Complete Address, Exam Date (12 April 2026), Exam Shift/Reporting Time, Paper-wise timings, and Photograph and Signature. If any detail is incorrect or the photograph is missing/unclear, contact the JSSC helpdesk immediately — do not wait until exam day.
The admit card is not just an entry pass — it contains all the crucial logistical information about your examination. Review each detail carefully to avoid any last-minute surprises on exam day.

✅ MANDATORY — Must Carry to Exam Centre
Printed Admit Card (A4 Size)
A clear, legible printed copy of the JECCE-2023 Written Examination Admit Card. Digital copy on phone is NOT accepted. Carry 2 copies as backup.
Original Photo Identity Proof
One valid government-issued photo ID with your name and photograph — Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, Passport, or PAN Card. The name on the ID must match the name on the admit card exactly.
Black/Blue Ball-Point Pen
For filling the OMR answer sheet. Do not use pencil or gel pen unless specifically permitted in exam instructions. Carry 2–3 pens as backup.
Passport-Size Photographs (2–3 copies)
Same photograph as uploaded in the application form and printed on the admit card. You may be asked to paste one on the attendance sheet at the exam centre.
Water Bottle (Transparent/Clear)
Plain water in a transparent bottle — no coloured beverages. You may be in the exam centre for 6+ hours across three paper sessions. Staying hydrated is important.
🚫 STRICTLY PROHIBITED — Do NOT Carry to Exam Centre
Mobile Phone, Smartwatch, Bluetooth Device
Mobile phones — even switched off — are not allowed inside the examination hall. Smartwatches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, and any wireless communication equipment are completely banned. Violation leads to immediate disqualification and potential legal action.
Books, Notes, Printed Study Material
No reference books, handwritten notes, cheat sheets, or any printed material may be carried inside. Invigilators conduct thorough checks — any such material found results in cancellation of candidature.
Electronic Devices — Calculator, Pager, Recorder
Electronic calculators, audio recording devices, pagers, and any other electronic communication devices are strictly prohibited. Basic non-programmable watches are generally permitted — verify with the exam centre notice.
Unfair Means — Copying Material of Any Kind
Carrying chits, micro-cameras, earpiece devices, or any concealed material constitutes use of unfair means — this is a criminal offence under the relevant Acts of Jharkhand and leads to permanent debarment from JSSC examinations in addition to legal proceedings.
- The written examination has three separate paper sessions on the same day — report to the centre at least 30–45 minutes before the start of each paper
- Reach the exam centre city the evening before (11 April 2026) — do not risk travel on the exam morning, especially for candidates from other districts
- Visit your exam centre in person on 11 April to confirm the location and plan your route — GPS sometimes shows wrong addresses for school/college buildings
- Entry to the examination hall is closed after gate closure time — latecomers are not permitted entry under any circumstance
The JSSC JECCE-2023 written examination is OMR-based (offline objective type). All three papers are conducted on the same day in consecutive sessions. Each paper is a separate booklet. The overall exam is one of the longer state-level examinations — plan your stamina and focus accordingly.
| Paper | Subject | Questions | Marks | Duration | Language |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper-I | Language Test — Hindi Language (60 Qs) + English Language (60 Qs) | 120 | 360 | 2 Hours | Hindi & English (bilingual) |
| Paper-II | Regional / Tribal Language Test — Candidate chooses ONE language from: Hindi, Urdu, Santhali, Bengali, Maithili, Mundari, Ho, Kharia, Kurukh / Oraon, Khortha/Khotta, Nagpuri, Panchpargania, Kurmali | 100 | 300 | 2 Hours | Chosen regional/tribal language |
| Paper-III | General Knowledge + Jharkhand GK + General Science + Basic Mathematics | 120 | 360 | 2 Hours | Hindi & English (bilingual) |
| Total | 340 | 1020 | 6 Hours | ||
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Exam Mode | OMR-based (Offline) — fill circles on OMR answer sheet with black/blue pen |
| Marks per Correct Answer | +3 marks |
| Negative Marking | −1 mark per wrong answer (penalty = ⅓ of marks for each question) |
| Unattempted Questions | No penalty — leave blank if unsure. Never guess randomly with 3-mark questions and 1-mark penalty. |
| Question Booklet Language | Paper-I and Paper-III: Both Hindi and English. Paper-II: Only the selected regional/tribal language. |
| Minimum Qualifying Marks | As prescribed by JSSC — check official notification for category-wise qualifying marks |
- Each correct answer earns +3 marks. Each wrong answer costs −1 mark. So you need 3 wrong answers to cancel out just 1 correct answer.
- However, if you attempt 10 uncertain questions and get 4 right and 6 wrong: you gain 12 marks but lose 6 marks — net gain of only 6. If you had skipped all 10, you'd have saved 6 wrong answers' penalty.
- The strategic rule: attempt a question only if you are confident about at least 2 out of 4 options being wrong — that is, when you can narrow it to 2 choices. Random guessing from 4 options has only a 25% chance of being correct — not worth the 1-mark risk.
- For Paper-I (Language), most candidates find this manageable — language-based questions are more intuitive. For Paper-III (GK + Jharkhand GK), be more selective.
- Jharkhand GK questions in Paper-III are the most differentiating — most candidates from outside the region score poorly in this section, giving prepared candidates a significant merit advantage
- Focus on: Jharkhand's tribal movements (Santhal Hul 1855, Birsa Munda's Ulgulan, Tana Bhagat movement), mineral wealth (coal, mica, bauxite, iron ore), major rivers (Damodar, Subarnarekha, Koel, North Karo), and national parks (Betla National Park, Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary)
- Study the list of 24 districts of Jharkhand, their headquarters, and key features — these regularly appear as direct questions
- Current Jharkhand government schemes, the state's industrial policy, and major infrastructure projects are increasingly tested in recent JSSC examinations
The JSSC JECCE-2023 selection process spans three stages. The written examination on 12 April 2026 is Stage 2 — understanding the full recruitment journey helps candidates plan ahead for what comes after the written exam.
| Stage | Event | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Physical Efficiency Test (PET) | Running test (1600m for males / 1000m for females), High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put — qualifying in nature. | Stage 2 | Written Examination (OMR) | 3 Papers | 340 Questions | 1020 Marks | 6 hours total. Paper-I (Language), Paper-II (Regional Language), Paper-III (GK + Jharkhand GK + Science + Maths). Negative marking of −1 per wrong answer. Final selection ranking based entirely on this exam. | ⚡ 12 April 2026 |
| Stage 3 | Medical Examination | Qualifying medical fitness test — vision (6/6 in better eye, 6/9 in other eye), hearing, physical fitness, absence of colour blindness, no communicable disease. Conducted by government medical board at designated district hospitals. | TBA |
| Final | Document Verification & Appointment | Verification of all original certificates — age proof (Matric), educational qualification, caste certificate (if applicable), Jharkhand domicile/residential certificate. Final merit list prepared post DV. Appointment order issued to successful candidates. | TBA |
- JSSC will release a Provisional Answer Key within a few days after the exam — candidates can submit representations against any incorrect answers within the specified window
- A Final Answer Key is released after all representations are evaluated — the final result is based on marks calculated using this key
- The Written Exam Merit List is prepared category-wise — shortlisted candidates are called for the Medical Examination (Stage 3)
- Candidates who clear Stage 3 (Medical) proceed to Document Verification — final selection requires passing all three stages
- Monitor jssc.jharkhand.gov.in and jssc.nic.in regularly for all subsequent updates — JSSC does not send individual notifications by post or email for results and interview schedules
