Category-wise: SC-3, ST-1, OBC-7, EWS-2, UR-13.
What is the written exam pattern for CBI SO Risk Management 2026?+
Online CBT, 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes. Three sections: Stream/Category Specific Questions (70 marks), Reasoning (15 marks), Banking/Economy/GK (15 marks). No negative marking. Qualifying marks: 50% for General/EWS, 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. Written exam carries 70% of final merit.
What is the CIC score requirement and what happens if I don't meet it?+
You must have a minimum CIC (Credit Information Company) score of 650 — as per CIBIL, Equifax, Experian, or CRIF. There should be no credit default or financial indiscipline in your report. This is verified at document verification stage. Failure to meet the score or having adverse credit history may result in disqualification or rejection of appointment without further notice. Ensure your CIC score before applying.
What does the ₹3 lakh indemnity bond mean?+
Selected candidates must execute an indemnity bond of ₹3,00,000. This means: if you leave the Bank's service within 3 years of selection/joining, you must pay ₹3 lakh to the Bank as compensation. This is to ensure that trained specialist officers remain with the Bank for a minimum period after their investment in the selection process.
What experience is needed for Analytics & Model Risk Scale IV?+
Minimum 5 years post-education qualification experience in quantitative/risk analytics/Model Validation at Commercial Banks, NBFCs, or Investment Banks. Experience must be directly relevant. Desirable: proficiency in SAS, SPSS, R, or Python. Eligibility is assessed as on 28 February 2026. Any experience of less than 6 months in a single organisation is not counted.
Can a CA (Chartered Accountant) apply for CBI SO Risk Management 2026?+
Yes. Chartered Accountants are eligible for Asset Liability Management (ALM), Enterprise Risk Management, and Market Risk streams. For Analytics & Model Risk, the education requirement is specifically Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering in Data Science/IT/CS — CA may not qualify for that stream. For Digital Risk Management, the requirement is Bachelor's in Computer Science/IT/Cybersecurity. Verify your qualification against the specific stream you wish to apply for.
What is the final selection merit formula?+
Final merit = Written Exam 70% + Interview 30%. Written exam is out of 100 marks and interview is out of 100 marks. The weighted score determines the merit list. In case of a tie, the senior candidate (older date of birth) is ranked higher. Merely qualifying the written exam does not guarantee interview shortlisting — only the requisite number of candidates are called for interview.
Where will I be posted after selection?+
Selected candidates will initially be posted at Mumbai (Central Office). They are thereafter liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per Central Bank of India's transfer policy in force from time to time. These are specialist roles in the Risk Management Department, so postings will be primarily at the risk management function level.
Do I need an NOC from my current employer?+
Yes, if you are currently employed in a Government/Quasi-Government/Public Sector Undertaking (including nationalised banks and financial institutions). You must produce a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer at the time of interview. Without NOC, your candidature may not be considered. Private sector employees do not require NOC but must carry experience certificates.
