Pre-Step — NAPS Registration at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in (Do This First)
Visit apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and register as an apprentice candidate. Complete your profile with educational qualifications, Aadhaar, and bank account details. Complete the eKYC (Aadhaar-based verification) mandatory process. Note your NAPS Registration/Enrolment Number — this is required when filling the SMC online application form. This step must be done before the SMC portal opens on 1 June 2026.
Stage 1 — Online Application Submission at suratmunicipal.gov.in
After completing NAPS registration and eKYC, apply online at suratmunicipal.gov.in/Information/Recruitment between 1–10 June 2026. Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, trade(s) applied for, and your NAPS registration number. Upload required scanned documents. Submit before 10 June 2026 (11:00 PM). Stage 2 — Merit-based Shortlisting
SMC shortlists candidates from received applications based on academic marks, qualifications, and trade eligibility. For trade categories where merit is calculated, it is typically based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (ITI grade / degree percentage). For Account Assistant, M.Com candidates are given priority ranking over B.Com. Shortlisted candidates are intimated exclusively through their registered mobile number and email ID.
Stage 3 — Document Verification (DV)
Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification at the SMC Recruitment Division, Surat. Candidates must bring original documents along with self-attested photocopies — educational certificates and marksheets, ITI/Degree certificate, NAPS registration proof, Aadhaar card, PAN card, and any other document specified in the call letter. Absence from DV = candidature cancelled. No re-verification is conducted.
Stage 4 — Apprenticeship Contract Generation on NAPS Portal
Candidates found suitable after Document Verification have their Apprenticeship Contract generated digitally on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in by SMC. The contract must be accepted by the candidate on the portal within the stipulated time. Upon contract acceptance, the candidate commences training at the allotted SMC department/unit. Training is governed entirely by the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the terms of the NAPS contract.

From 1 June 2026, visit suratmunicipal.gov.in/Information/Recruitment and find the link for SMC Apprentice Recruitment 2026 (Advt. PRO/48/2026-27).
