Step 2: Obtain Medical Fitness Certificate
Get a Medical Fitness Certificate from a practising MBBS-registered General Physician or a Government Hospital. The certificate must declare you medically fit for apprenticeship training / work. This is a mandatory document — without it, you will NOT be allowed to attend training even if your name is on the selection list. Obtain this before your reporting date of 01 June 2026.

Step 3: Obtain Character & Conduct Certificate
Get a Character & Conduct Certificate from a Gazetted Government Officer, Notary Public, or your current educational institution’s principal (if recently graduated). The certificate must confirm good character and conduct with no criminal record. This too is a mandatory document — without it, you cannot attend training. Plan ahead — getting these certificates from government offices can take 3–7 working days.

Step 4: Carry All Supporting Documents on Reporting Day
On 01 June 2026, report to the assigned branch/training centre (as per your email) with: Medical Fitness Certificate, Character & Conduct Certificate, original graduation marksheets & degree/provisional certificate, 12th standard marksheet (on which merit was based), Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, two recent passport-size photographs, and your NATS enrollment certificate. Carry all originals plus self-attested photocopies.

Step 5: Open Aadhaar-Linked Bank Account (if not already done)
Monthly stipend of ₹15,000 (₹10,500 from Canara Bank + ₹4,500 Government DBT) is paid to your bank account. Ensure you have an active Aadhaar-seeded bank account — ideally a Canara Bank savings account for faster credit. The stipend is paid at the end of each training month. Opening a Canara Bank account on the day of joining is the easiest approach.

06. Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. When was the Canara Bank Apprentice Selection List 2026 released?
The Wait List selection list for Canara Bank Graduate Apprentice FY 2025-26 was officially released on 21 May 2026, signed by the Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank’s Apprenticeship Section, Human Resources Wing, Head Office, Bengaluru. It is available on the official website canarabank.bank.in.

Q2. What is a Wait List selection? Is it different from the main selection list?
Yes — the Wait List is a secondary list of candidates who were not in the first/main merit list but have now been offered training slots. This happens when candidates from the original merit list decline, fail document verification, or fail the medical fitness test — their slots open up and are offered to candidates from the Wait List in order of merit. Being selected from the Wait List is equally valid — these candidates undergo the same training at the same stipend as originally selected candidates.

Q3. When does the Canara Bank Apprenticeship Training start for selected candidates?
The apprenticeship training for provisionally selected Wait List candidates commences on 01 June 2026. The exact reporting venue, branch, and timing has been sent by Canara Bank individually to each selected candidate’s registered email ID. Candidates must check their registered email (including spam folder) for this communication.

Q4. What documents must selected candidates carry on the day of joining?
Two documents are absolutely mandatory without which training entry will be denied: (1) Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered physician declaring fitness for apprenticeship, and (2) Character & Conduct Certificate from a Gazetted Officer or educational institution. Additionally carry: graduation marksheets and degree certificate, 12th standard marksheet, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, NATS enrollment proof, and passport-size photographs.

Q5. What is the monthly stipend for Canara Bank Apprentice?
Selected apprentices receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 per month. This comprises ₹10,500 paid by Canara Bank and ₹4,500 paid by the Government of India via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to the candidate’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. The stipend is paid monthly after the training month ends, with deductions for any authorised leave taken.

Q6. My name is not in the Wait List — can I still expect selection?
The list published on 21 May 2026 covers the current Wait List call. If your name is not in this list, it means you have not been selected in this round. Canara Bank may or may not publish additional Wait List rounds depending on whether training slots remain unfilled after the 01 June 2026 reporting date. Monitor canarabank.bank.in for any future notifications. There is no guarantee of additional rounds.

Q7. How was the merit list prepared for Canara Bank Apprentice 2025-26?
The state-wise merit list was prepared in descending order of marks/percentage obtained in Class 12 (HSC/10+2) or Diploma examination. In case two or more candidates have the same percentage, they are ranked further by their Date of Birth in descending order — meaning the older candidate (higher date of birth value in descending sequence) gets a higher rank. No written exam was conducted — selection was entirely based on academic merit.

Q8. Does Canara Bank apprenticeship guarantee a permanent job in the bank?
No — there is no employment guarantee. The Canara Bank Graduate Apprentice program is a 1-year on-the-job banking training under the Apprentices Act, 1961. After training, apprentices receive a completion certificate but the bank has no obligation to offer regular employment. However, the banking experience from Canara Bank’s apprenticeship is highly valued for future bank job applications (IBPS Clerk/PO, SBI, etc.) as it demonstrates practical banking exposure.
