Selection Process
Written/OMR Exam → Shortlisting (if needed) → Document Verification → Medical Exam
📋 Merit-Based Selection — No Interview

JKSSB follows a fully merit-based, transparent selection process with no personal interview at any stage. Final appointment is based entirely on performance in the Written/OMR examination. In the event of a very large number of applicants for a particular post, JKSSB reserves the right to apply shortlisting criteria (such as higher merit cut-off or stage-wise filtering) before calling candidates for the main exam. All stages are clearly communicated on jkssb.nic.in.

1

Stage 1 — Online Application Submission

Eligible J&K domicile candidates register and submit the online application at jkssb.nic.in between 22 June and 21 July 2026. Personal details, educational qualifications, category, and domicile details are filled in. Required documents are uploaded. Application fee of ₹600 / ₹500 is paid through online mode. Confirmation receipt is generated — keep it safe.

2

Stage 2 — Written / OMR-Based Examination

The selection is primarily based on a Written or OMR (Objective Multiple Choice) examination conducted by JKSSB. Exam date, centre, and admit card are published on jkssb.nic.in. The paper covers general knowledge, subject-specific questions, and aptitude relevant to the post. There is no interview. In the event of a large number of applicants, JKSSB may apply pre-screening or shortlisting before the main written exam — this will be communicated officially.

3

Stage 3 — Merit List & Shortlisting

After the written exam, JKSSB prepares a category-wise merit list based on marks obtained. Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification in order of merit. The merit list is published on jkssb.nic.in. Number of candidates called for DV is typically 1.5–2 times the number of vacancies in each category to maintain a buffer for vacancies arising from DV rejections.

4

Stage 4 — Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted after the exam are required to appear at JKSSB's designated centres (Jammu or Srinagar) with all original documents. Educational certificates, domicile certificate, category certificate, age proof, and other relevant documents are verified against the application form data. Any mismatch or discrepancy results in immediate disqualification. The next candidate in merit order fills the slot.

5

Stage 5 — Medical Examination

Candidates who clear Document Verification are required to appear for a Medical Examination at designated government hospitals or medical centres. Medical standards vary by post — technical and field-based posts (Electrician, Plumber, Junior Grader etc.) typically require higher physical fitness standards. Candidates declared medically unfit are not offered appointment and the next candidate in merit takes the position.

6

Stage 6 — Final Appointment

Candidates who successfully clear all preceding stages receive their appointment order from the respective indenting department. Posting is at any location within J&K (Jammu or Kashmir division) as per the cadre type — UT Cadre candidates may be posted anywhere in the UT. Initial probation period applies as per the post-specific service rules.

📌 Before You Start — Keep These Ready

Ensure you have a valid email ID and active mobile number for OTP verification. Keep scanned copies of: passport-size photograph (recent, colour, white background), signature, Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, educational qualification certificates (marksheets + degree/certificate), and category certificate (if applicable). Log in and select the post you wish to apply for from the list under Advt. 04/2026. Fill in all mandatory fields: personal details, educational qualifications, J&K Domicile details, category, and address. Ensure all uploads are clear, readable, and within the prescribed file size limits. Poor quality or unreadable uploads lead to rejection.

4

Step 4 — Pay Application Fee Online

After filling and reviewing the form, proceed to the fee payment section. Pay ₹600 (General/OBC/RBA/ALC-IB male) or ₹500 (SC/ST/EWS/PwBD) through the available online payment options — Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. Save the transaction ID and payment confirmation receipt. Fee is non-refundable. Applications without successful fee payment are not processed.

5

Step 5 — Submit & Download Confirmation

After fee payment, click Final Submit. Review the preview of your complete application one final time before confirming. Once submitted, download and print the Application Confirmation Page with your unique Application Number. Store it safely — you will need it for admit card download, exam hall entry, and document verification. Do not wait until 21 July 2026 — technical issues on the last day are common.
