Frequently Asked Questions
NBEMS Recruitment 2026 — all key queries answered
What is NBEMS and what posts are being recruited in this notification?+
National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, responsible for conducting postgraduate medical examinations of high standards at the national level (such as NEET-PG, NEET-SS, FET, and Diplomate of National Board examinations). Under Advertisement No. A-12011/3/2025-Estb dated 02 June 2026, NBEMS is recruiting 53 posts across Group A (Deputy Director Medical — 2), Group B (Junior Programmer — 1), and Group C (Junior Accountant — 4, Stenographer — 7, Junior Assistant — 39).
What is the exam pattern for Junior Accountant, Stenographer, and Junior Assistant posts?+
These three Group C posts follow a two-stage selection process. Stage-I (CBT) is an objective test of 200 questions for 200 marks, lasting 3 hours (180 minutes), with 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer — covering General Intelligence & Reasoning (50), General Awareness (50), Quantitative Aptitude (50), and English Comprehension (50). Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Serviceman, 50% for others. Based on Stage-I merit, 5 candidates per vacancy per category are called for Stage-II (Computer Knowledge/Skill Test) — 100 marks, 75 minutes — covering Data Entry, Word Processing, Computer Operation, or Stenography as per the post. No interview is conducted for these posts; final merit is based on combined Stage-I + Stage-II marks.
What is the application fee, and who is exempted?+
The application fee is ₹1,500 + 18% GST = ₹1,770 for General and OBC category candidates, applicable across all posts. SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates are completely exempted from paying any fee — this exemption applies regardless of the post applied for. The fee must be paid online (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI) and is strictly non-refundable. Bank processing charges, where applicable, are payable separately by the candidate.
What is the required typing/shorthand speed for the Stenographer post?+
For the Stenographer post (7 vacancies, Group C, Level 4), the educational qualification is Senior Secondary (12th of 10+2), and candidates must have a stenographic skill of 80 words per minute (wpm) in Shorthand and 30 wpm in Typing. Additionally, candidates must appear for and qualify in a test of General English/Shorthand & Typewriting conducted by the Board as part of the Stage-II Computer Knowledge/Skill Test. Desirable (not mandatory) qualifications include 2 years' experience as a Stenographer in a Government/PSU/Autonomous Body and word processing ability on computer.
Is there a service bond for NBEMS Recruitment 2026? What are the terms?+
Yes — NBEMS plans to execute a Penalty Bond from all candidates selected against this advertisement. Selected candidates must agree to serve the Board for a minimum continuous period of 2 years (coinciding with the probation period). If a candidate resigns or voluntarily leaves service before completing this mandatory 2-year period, they will be liable to pay 3 months' last-drawn salary as liquidated damages, intended to compensate the Board for recruitment, training, and administrative costs incurred due to the premature vacancy. Note: the bond execution matter was, as per the notification, still under consideration before the Governing Body for final approval at the time of this advertisement — selected candidates will be informed of the specific bond amount and mandatory service period through a subsequent notification/addendum.
What is the age limit and eligible age relaxation for each category?+
Age limits vary by post: Deputy Director (Medical) — not exceeding 35 years; Junior Programmer, Junior Accountant, Junior Assistant — below 27 years; Stenographer — 18 to 27 years. All ages are reckoned as on 20 July 2026 (last date of application). Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; PwBD (UR) — 10 years, (OBC) — 13 years, (SC/ST) — 15 years; Ex-Servicemen relaxation varies by sub-category (3 to 8 years); Central Government civilian employees with 3+ years of regular service get relaxation up to 40 years (45 years for SC/ST); and widowed/divorced/judicially separated women (not remarried) get relaxation up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST).
Can I apply for more than one post in this NBEMS recruitment?+
Yes — candidates wishing to apply for more than one post must apply separately for each category/post, with a separate application form and separate fee payment (where applicable) for each. There is no combined application across multiple posts. Note that if a candidate submits multiple applications for the same post, only the last application (found correct in all respects) will be accepted, and the fee for the earlier submission(s) will be forfeited.
What is the tentative written exam date and where will it be held?+
The tentative date of the written examination (Stage-I CBT) is 05 and 06 September 2026. The exact date, time, and venue/centre will be communicated to candidates through an e-Admit Card, downloadable from www.natboard.edu.in closer to the exam date, as well as via notices uploaded on the official website during the recruitment process. Candidates are strongly advised to regularly check the NBEMS website for updates, as no separate postal or newspaper notification will be sent.
Do I need to submit certificates along with my online application?+
No. NBEMS explicitly states that no hard copies of certificates/mark sheets are required to be submitted along with the online application form. Candidates only need to fill in the relevant details online. However, candidates must produce all required documents for verification when called for by NBEMS (typically at the document verification stage after qualifying both exam stages) — failure to produce the original documents at that time will lead to disqualification, regardless of exam performance.
Are PwBD candidates exempted from any stage of the examination?+
No — there is no exemption from any stage for any candidate, including PwBD candidates. The notification clearly states that only candidates who participate in all stages of the examination, including the Computer Knowledge/Skill Test, shall be considered for selection; no exemption shall be granted to any candidate. PwBD candidates are, however, entitled to Scribe facility or compensatory time (20 minutes per hour of examination) upon request — candidates must arrange their own scribe and ensure the scribe's qualification does not exceed the exam's minimum qualification standard.
What happens if I am already employed in a Government job?+
Candidates already employed in Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, or any organisation established and governed by Central/State Government should still submit their online application as normal. However, they will be required to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer at the time of interview/document verification, or whenever required by NBEMS. Failure to produce the NOC will result in cancellation of candidature for further stages of the recruitment process.
