Eligibility Criteria
- English Shorthand: Minimum 100 words per minute (Sir Isaac Pitman's system)
- English Typewriting: Minimum 40 words per minute on computer
- Have served in the Territorial Army for a minimum of 2 years, OR
- Hold an NCC 'B' Certificate
- All three stages are individually qualifying — no candidate, including PH candidates, is exempt from any stage.
- There is no provision for Scribe or extra time for PH candidates in any stage. Visually handicapped may use own magnifying glasses only.
- Candidates employed in Govt./PSUs must submit NOC from Cadre Controlling Authority when asked.
- PH candidates must have not less than 40% disability certified by Competent Authority.
- Only ONE application per candidate. If multiple submitted, only the last submitted application is considered — previous fees not refunded.

Stage I — Computer Based Test (CBT) · Three Parts in Single Shift
General Studies
Syllabus: General Science · History of India · Indian National Movement · Polity, Economy & Culture · Agriculture/Commerce/Trade · Population & Ecology · World Geography & Indian Resources · Current Events · General Aptitude · UP Special Knowledge · General English & Hindi (Graduation level) · Elementary Computer Knowledge. Question paper in both English and Hindi; English version is final.
Computer Knowledge
Reproduce a ~500-word Judgment passage in English on computer in exact format. Each mistake = 0.2 marks deducted. Spelling errors, punctuation, bold/italic, justification errors and paragraph phrasing = full mistake.
Translation Test
Translate a ~250-word passage from Shorthand (Pitman) to English on computer. Each mistake = 0.4 marks deducted.
Stage II — Shorthand Dictation Test · CBT · Called: 10× vacancies per category
Dictation + Transcription
~500-word passage dictated in English in 5 minutes (100 wpm). Write in shorthand, then transcribe on computer within 30 minutes. Required speed: Shorthand 100 wpm, Typing 40 wpm. Each mistake = 0.4 marks deducted. Paragraphing/punctuation error = half mistake.
Stage III — Interview · Called: 3× vacancies per category from Stage I + II merit
Personality Test
Viva-voce to assess personality, communication, knowledge and suitability. Final merit prepared on aggregate marks in Stage I + II + III (Total 675). Merit list valid for one year or until next selection. Equal marks: older candidate ranked higher.

Register with Your Own Email ID and Mobile Number
Register using your own personal email ID and mobile number. Note the system-generated Application/Registration Number. Do not use email/mobile of a coaching centre. Both cannot be changed after registration.
Fill the Complete Online Application Form
Enter Name (as in Class X), Mother's/Father's Name in CAPITAL LETTERS — no prefix. Date of Birth as in Class X Certificate. Category, domicile, educational qualifications, shorthand/typing speed, identity document details. Exercise utmost caution — only a few fields can be corrected in the correction window.
Upload Scanned Documents
Upload: (i) Passport photo (JPG, 10–200 KB, white background, 80% face, with name & date printed, taken after notification date); (ii) Signature in running hand on white paper in blue/black pen (JPG, 10–100 KB — NOT capital letters); (iii) Left thumb impression (10–200 KB); (iv) Class X Certificate (50–300 KB); (v) Category Certificate if applicable (50–300 KB); (vi) Employment Certificate if applicable (50–300 KB).
Pay Application Fee via SBI
Pay ₹1,900 (General/OBC) or ₹1,700 (SC/ST/EWS of UP) through SBI via Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI. Fee payment deadline: 2 April 2026. Additional bank charges are payable by the candidate. Fee is non-refundable.
Download Confirmation Page and Save
After successful fee payment, the Confirmation Page is generated. Download and print at least 4 copies. Keep 8 passport-size photographs (same as uploaded) aside. Save fee payment proof. Confirmation Page need not be posted to NTA/High Court.
Documents Required
- The same Govt. ID used during registration must be brought in original on exam day.
- Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, electronic watches, earphones are strictly prohibited in the exam hall.
- Biometric verification is done at the exam centre. Late entry is not permitted under any circumstances.
- Fabricated/morphed photograph or signature = Unfair Means (UFM) and may lead to criminal action.
