Bachelor's Degree from a University established by Law in India, OR a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. Any stream/subject is eligible — no specific degree is mandated.

  • English Shorthand: Minimum 100 words per minute (Sir Isaac Pitman's system)
  • English Typewriting: Minimum 40 words per minute on computer

Computer Knowledge
Knowledge of Data Entry, Word Processing and Computer Operations is mandatory. Directly tested in Stage I Part B where candidates reproduce a 500-word judgment passage on computer in exact format within 15 minutes.

As per Rule 4-F, preference given (other things equal) to candidates who:
  • Have served in the Territorial Army for a minimum of 2 years, OR

Marital Status Rule
A male candidate with more than one living wife, or a female candidate who married a person who already has a living wife, is not eligible. Exemption only by Chief Justice under special grounds.

  • All three stages are individually qualifying — no candidate, including PH candidates, is exempt from any stage.
  • There is no provision for Scribe or extra time for PH candidates in any stage. Visually handicapped may use own magnifying glasses only.
  • Candidates employed in Govt./PSUs must submit NOC from Cadre Controlling Authority when asked.
  • PH candidates must have not less than 40% disability certified by Competent Authority.
  • Only ONE application per candidate. If multiple submitted, only the last submitted application is considered — previous fees not refunded.

Register with Your Own Email ID and Mobile Number

Register using your own personal email ID and mobile number. Note the system-generated Application/Registration Number. Do not use email/mobile of a coaching centre. Both cannot be changed after registration.

Fill the Complete Online Application Form

Enter Name (as in Class X), Mother's/Father's Name in CAPITAL LETTERS — no prefix. Date of Birth as in Class X Certificate. Category, domicile, educational qualifications, shorthand/typing speed, identity document details. Exercise utmost caution — only a few fields can be corrected in the correction window.

Upload Scanned Documents

Upload: (i) Passport photo (JPG, 10–200 KB, white background, 80% face, with name & date printed, taken after notification date); (ii) Signature in running hand on white paper in blue/black pen (JPG, 10–100 KB — NOT capital letters); (iii) Left thumb impression (10–200 KB); (iv) Class X Certificate (50–300 KB); (v) Category Certificate if applicable (50–300 KB); (vi) Employment Certificate if applicable (50–300 KB).

Pay Application Fee via SBI

After successful fee payment, the Confirmation Page is generated. Download and print at least 4 copies. Keep 8 passport-size photographs (same as uploaded) aside. Save fee payment proof. Confirmation Page need not be posted to NTA/High Court.
