(Samaharanalay, Dumka Block-A)
- Application only in the prescribed format — available at dumka.nic.in. No other format accepted.
- Applications only via Registered Post or Speed Post — no online, email, WhatsApp, or in-person submission.
- Applications reaching after 02 April 2026 (5:00 PM) will NOT be accepted regardless of dispatch date.
- Caste and Residential certificates must be sub-division/district-level online-issued — handwritten or old-format certificates not accepted.
- All photocopies must be self-attested — unsigned copies will be rejected.
- Appointment is purely temporary for 1 year — no claim of permanency or regularisation can be made at any stage.
- Selected teacher must join within 1 week of receiving the appointment letter — failing which, the next candidate on the waiting list will be selected.
- Since EMRS is a residential school, selected guest teachers must reside at the school campus and be available as per school and student needs.
This recruitment is genuinely worth a close look — but not for the reasons most candidates assume. Here is an honest breakdown from our team that has tracked EMRS appointments across Jharkhand for the past two years.
- No competitive written exam — selection by interview/skill test only
- Retired teachers up to 65 years eligible — rare in govt teaching jobs
- Experience in EMRS adds significant weight to your CV for future NESTS regular teacher openings
- NESTS is actively filling vacancies as EMRS schools become operational — this placement builds a track record
- Low competition compared to SSC or JSSC — district-level recruitment means fewer applicants
- No application fee — zero financial risk to apply
- Appointment is strictly for 1 year — ends the moment a regular teacher joins
- Residential requirement: you must live on campus, not at home — plan accordingly
- Remuneration follows NESTS norms, not regular teacher pay scales (no DA, no HRA typically)
- No legal recourse if terminated — contract can be ended without notice
- Block-level locations (Kathikund, Masalia) — remote postings with limited urban amenities
Our verdict: If you hold CTET Paper-2 and are currently unemployed or between jobs, this is a strong opportunity — especially for candidates from Dumka or nearby districts. The interview-only selection format means your subject knowledge and communication skills matter more than exam marks. For candidates already in a stable government role, the temporary nature and residential requirement make this less attractive.
Who should prioritise this: Fresh B.Ed graduates awaiting JSSC results, retired government school teachers within 65 years, and candidates who have already appeared in CTET Paper-2 and are looking for teaching experience to strengthen future applications.
The selection is through a Walk-in Interview and/or Skill Test conducted by a District-Level Committee. Based on the pattern of similar EMRS and Navodaya Guest Teacher interviews in Jharkhand, here is what to expect and how to prepare:
- Subject knowledge: Questions from your teaching subject at Class VI–VIII level — expect 3–5 conceptual questions (e.g., for Science: basic Biology, Physics, Chemistry relevant to NCERT Class 6–8)
- Pedagogy awareness: Simple questions like "How would you explain photosynthesis to a Class 7 tribal student?" test your teaching approach
- Communication: Clarity in Hindi (primary medium at EMRS Dumka) is essential — most committees prefer candidates who can explain concepts simply in Hindi
- Residential school readiness: Expect the question "Are you comfortable living on campus?" — answer confidently with a genuine yes
- Science TGT: Revise NCERT Science Class 6, 7, 8 — focus on Life Processes, Motion, Metals & Non-metals, Cell Structure. Expect to explain one topic in Hindi
- Hindi TGT: Grammar rules (Sandhi, Samas, Ras, Alankar), prose and poetry comprehension from NCERT Vasant/Durva, teaching methods for comprehension
- Social Studies TGT: History (Medieval India, Mughal Empire, Colonial period), Geography (Resources, Climate, Agriculture), Civics (Panchayati Raj, Constitution basics)
- Sanskrit TGT: Shabd Roop, Dhatu Roop, basic translation, grammar from NCERT Ruchira books — committee may ask you to translate a simple sentence on the spot
- Art TGT: Portfolio preparation strongly recommended — bring 5–6 samples of your artwork. Knowledge of Indian folk art (Madhubani, Warli — both relevant to tribal context) will stand out
- All original certificates (10th, 12th, Graduation, B.Ed, CTET) — committee will verify originals
- Original Caste Certificate and Residential Certificate (sub-division/district online-issued)
- Original Aadhaar Card
- 2 sets of self-attested photocopies of all documents
- 4 passport-size colour photographs
- Experience certificate originals (if any)
- Art candidates: physical portfolio of artwork samples
- Demonstration lesson (5–10 minutes): You may be asked to teach one topic from Class VI–VIII NCERT to the committee as if they were students — prepare one topic per subject
- Blackboard writing: Neat, legible board writing in Hindi is assessed — practice writing subject-specific content on a whiteboard or paper in advance
- Basic computer task: Some schools test MS Office basics (typing, formatting a document) — worth a quick refresh

Understanding what EMRS schools are — and what they represent — helps you communicate far more convincingly in the interview. Here is what every applicant should know:
- You are responsible for students' academic progress, discipline, and welfare beyond classroom hours
- Students are predominantly from Santhal, Paharia, and other tribal communities of Dumka — sensitivity to their cultural background and first language (Santali/Mundari) helps enormously
- EMRS follows CBSE curriculum — same NCERT books as KVS and NVS
- Expect a close-knit school community of 10–15 teachers and 150–300 students with high-responsibility work
- Block Kathikund is approximately 50 km from Dumka town — a forested, tribal-majority block in Santhal Parganas. Road connectivity has improved since 2020 but the area remains rural with limited urban infrastructure.
- Block Masalia is approximately 35 km from Dumka town — slightly more accessible, on the route toward Pakur district.
- Both schools are newly operationalised — meaning you may be among the first teaching staff, which carries both challenge and opportunity. Early teachers at newly opened EMRS schools typically receive strong recommendations in their service records.
- EMRS Fitkoriya, Block Kathikund: 5 posts — Art (1), Hindi (1), Science (1), Social Studies (1), Sanskrit (1)
- EMRS Dalahi, Block Masalia: 5 posts — Hindi (1), Science (1), Social Studies (1), Sanskrit (1) — no Art vacancy here
- 4-year integrated B.Ed in the concerned subject with minimum 50% marks, OR
- 3-year B.Sc Honours in the concerned subject + B.Ed with minimum 50% marks
- CTET Paper-2 (Class VI–VIII) passed — conducted by CBSE (mandatory). If no CTET-qualified candidates available, JTET-qualified candidates will be considered.
- Fresh/Working candidates: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 60 years
- Retired teachers from State Govt., KVS, NVS, or CBSE-recognised schools: Maximum age extended to 65 years — provided they are physically fit to serve in a residential school
- Download the prescribed application form from dumka.nic.in
