Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) released Notification No. CO/APPR/2026/01 on 20 February 2026 inviting online applications for 190 Trainee Apprentice posts (Graduate and Diploma) in Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and General Stream. Applications are accepted via konkanrailway.com until 21 March 2026 under the Apprentices Act 1961/1973.

The monthly stipend has two equal components:
Graduate Apprentices: Total ₹9,000/month — GOI share of ₹4,500 paid directly via DBT + KRCL establishment share of ₹4,500.
Diploma Apprentices: Total ₹8,000/month — GOI share of ₹4,000 via DBT + KRCL share of ₹4,000.
Note: KRCL does not provide lodging or boarding. Candidates must make their own accommodation arrangements.

No written test and no interview. Selection is purely merit-based on aggregate percentage of marks across all semesters/years of the qualifying degree/diploma. No rounding off is done and no weightage is given to any individual semester. In case of tie, older candidate gets preference; if DOB is same, the one who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.

Yes, NATS registration is mandatory. NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) at nats.education.gov.in is the government portal for Graduate and Diploma apprenticeships. Candidates must register and obtain a valid approved NATS ID before applying on the KRCL website. Candidates without a valid NATS ID will be summarily rejected at document verification.

Processing fee is ₹100 (non-refundable, online payment only) for General and OBC-NCL candidates. Fee is NIL for: SC, ST, Female candidates, Minority community candidates (Muslim/Sikh/Christian/Buddhist/Parsi — declaration affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper required), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates (valid income certificate from Tehsildar required).

18 to 25 years as on 01 January 2026. Date of Birth must be between 01.01.2001 and 01.01.2008. Upper age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years (up to 30 years); OBC-NCL — 3 years (up to 28 years). Only 10th/Matriculation certificate is accepted as age proof.

Only candidates who passed out in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 are eligible. This 5-year window is measured from the date of passing the qualifying examination to the date of joining the apprenticeship training. Candidates who passed out before 2021 are not eligible.

Training duration is one year (12 months) as per the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973. Selected candidates can be deployed anywhere within KRCL's jurisdiction — covering the Konkan Railway route through Maharashtra (Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg), Goa (North & South Goa), and Karnataka (Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada). No specific location preference is guaranteed.

Candidates whose land was acquired for the Konkan Railway Project are given first preference in selection, regardless of the percentage of land acquired. The definition includes: the person themselves, their spouse, son, unmarried daughter, paternal grandson and paternal unmarried granddaughter. Required proof: SLAO certificate, Tehsildar certificate (prescribed format), and RTC land documents from the year of acquisition.

No. As per the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (Schedule V, Para 10), KRCL has no obligation to offer employment after completion of training. Completing the training does not give any right to absorption in KRCL. The apprenticeship is purely a skill training programme, not a recruitment channel.

No. Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 — in any Government, PSU or Private Industrial Organization — are NOT eligible to apply for KRCL Apprentice 2026.

If a candidate holds a higher qualification (e.g., M.Tech along with B.Tech, or MBA along with B.Com), no extra credit or weightage is given for it. The merit list is prepared purely on marks in the minimum essential qualifying degree/diploma prescribed for the training slot. All candidates are evaluated equally on their base qualification marks alone.
