Q1. What is the total number of vacancies in POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026?
POWERGRID has announced a total of 188 apprentice seats for 2026, spread across four regional zones — Northern Region-I (93 posts), Western Region-II (55 posts), Western Region-I (25 posts), and Southern Region-II (15 posts). Candidates can apply for only one region of their choice.
Q2. Is there any application fee for POWERGRID Apprentice 2026?
No. There is absolutely no application fee for any category — General, OBC, SC, ST, or EWS. The entire application process is free of cost. No payment gateway, demand draft, or challan is required at any stage.
Q3. What is the monthly stipend offered to POWERGRID apprentices?
The monthly stipend ranges from ₹13,500 to ₹17,500 depending on your qualification level. ITI pass-outs receive ₹13,500, Diploma holders get ₹15,000, and Graduate/MBA/MSW candidates receive ₹17,500. An additional House Rent Allowance of ₹2,500 per month is paid if company accommodation is not provided, making the maximum total earning ₹20,000 per month.
Q4. Will there be a written exam or interview for selection?
No written examination or personal interview is conducted for this recruitment. Selection is entirely merit-based, meaning candidates are shortlisted purely on the percentage of marks scored in their qualifying examination — ITI, Diploma, or Degree. Only document verification is conducted before final engagement.
Q5. Can candidates who passed their degree or diploma more than 2 years ago apply?
No. POWERGRID has set a strict eligibility window — your qualifying exam result must have been officially declared between 12 March 2024 and 11 March 2026. Candidates whose results were declared before this period are not eligible, regardless of their qualification or marks.
