Educational Qualification — 3 Options
Must satisfy any ONE of the three qualification sets — all require minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST)
1
B.Sc (Chemistry) + NCVT Certification Route
Step 1: Full-time regular B.Sc with Chemistry as principal subject and Physics as one of the subjects — from a recognised university.

Step 2 (after B.Sc): NCVT certification in Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) Trade — must be completed after obtaining the B.Sc degree.

Marks required: Minimum 55% aggregate in B.Sc (50% for SC/ST candidates).
2
3-Year Diploma (Chemical Engineering) + BOAT Training Route
Step 1: Full-time 3-Year Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Technology from a recognised Polytechnic/Institute.

Step 2 (after Diploma): 1-Year BOAT (Board of Apprenticeship Training) training under the Apprentices Act 1961 — must be completed after obtaining the Diploma.

Marks required: Minimum 55% aggregate in Diploma (50% for SC/ST candidates).
3
Sandwich Pattern Diploma (Chemical Engineering) Route
Qualification: 4-Year (8 Semester) or 3½-Year (7 Semester) full-time Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Technology under the Sandwich Pattern — which integrates Industrial Training as part of the programme structure.

No separate BOAT training required — the industrial training embedded in the Sandwich Pattern Diploma suffices.

Marks required: Minimum 55% aggregate (50% for SC/ST candidates).
⚠ Important Eligibility Conditions
  • The qualification must be from a university/board/institution recognised by the Government of India
  • For Options 1 and 2, the NCVT/BOAT training must be completed after the degree/diploma — not before or during it
  • The minimum marks threshold (55%/50%) applies to the final aggregate of the qualifying degree/diploma — not just the last semester
  • Candidates in the final year/semester of their qualifying examination may apply, but must possess the certificate and meet marks criteria by the time of document scrutiny
  • Candidates with higher qualifications such as B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering are not eligible for this Unionized Category recruitment

Complete Selection Process
Online Test (100% merit) → Document Scrutiny → Skill Test (qualifying) → Medical
1

Stage 1 — Computer-Based Online Test (CBT)

A Computer-Based Online Test is the primary selection stage. The final merit list is prepared based on 100% weightage of marks obtained in the Online Test. The exam will be scheduled after the application window closes — exact date will be communicated via admit card/call letter on rcfltd.com and the IBPS portal. Expect objective-type questions covering Chemical Engineering/Chemistry concepts, Reasoning, General Knowledge, and English.

2

Stage 2 — Document Scrutiny

Candidates shortlisted based on Online Test marks are called for document verification. All original certificates — educational qualification (B.Sc/Diploma + NCVT/BOAT), NCVT marksheet, age proof, category certificate, etc. — are verified. Discrepancies or ineligibility found at this stage leads to disqualification.

3

Stage 3 — Skill Test (Qualifying in Nature)

A practical Skill Test is conducted to verify operational competency relevant to chemical plant operations. The Skill Test result is reported as Suitable / Unsuitable — it does not add marks to the merit list. Candidates marked 'Unsuitable' in the Skill Test are disqualified regardless of Online Test performance. Prepare practically — familiarise yourself with chemical plant operations, instrumentation basics, and safety procedures.

4

Stage 4 — Medical Examination

Selected candidates undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination by RCFL's designated medical authority. Candidates must be physically fit for chemical plant work — vision standards, physical fitness, and absence of any condition that may affect safety or performance in an industrial plant environment are assessed. Appointment is subject to medical clearance.

5

Stage 5 — 6-Month Training & Final Absorption

Candidates who clear all stages join as Operator (Chemical) Trainees for a structured 6-month training period at RCFL's Trombay or Thal plant. During training, they receive ₹22,000/month stipend with free hostel and medical. On successful completion, they are permanently absorbed in Grade II (A6) with Pay Scale ₹22,000–₹60,000 and all regular employment benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions
Complete Q&A on RCFL Operator Trainee Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for RCFL Operator Trainee Recruitment 2026?+
The last date to submit the online application and pay the fee is 27 April 2026 at 5:00 PM (17:00 Hrs). Applications opened on 11 April 2026 at 8:00 AM at ibpsreg.ibps.in/rcflfeb26. The application printout can be taken till 12 May 2026. Apply early — the window is only 17 days.
Can B.Tech/B.E. (Chemical Engineering) graduates apply for RCFL Operator Trainee 2026?+
No. B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering graduates are not eligible for this Unionized Category recruitment. The qualification required is specifically B.Sc (Chemistry with Physics) + NCVT, or a 3-Year/Sandwich Pattern Diploma in Chemical Engineering + BOAT/Industrial Training. This is a deliberate design — the post is in the unionized worker cadre, not the officer/engineer cadre. B.Tech graduates may be eligible for RCFL's separate executive/officer recruitment drives.
Does NCVT training need to be completed before applying?+
For Option 1 (B.Sc + NCVT), the NCVT training in Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) Trade must be completed after obtaining the B.Sc degree. Similarly, for Option 2 (Diploma + BOAT), the 1-year BOAT training must be completed after obtaining the Diploma. Both certifications must be in your possession by the time of document scrutiny — not just at the time of application. Final-year applicants should ensure they will have all certificates ready before the document verification stage.
What is the salary for RCFL Operator Trainee 2026?+
During the 6-month training period: Consolidated stipend of ₹22,000 per month + free hostel accommodation on sharing basis + free medical at RCF Hospital. After successful training and absorption in Grade II (A6): Pay Scale ₹22,000–₹60,000. Approximate gross salary at the minimum of scale = ₹47,800 per month (calculated as Basic + VDA 53.4% + Perks 34% + HRA 30% for Class A cities). Additional benefits include Performance Related Pay, Company Accommodation, Free Medical for family, CPF, Gratuity, and Accident Insurance.
Is the Skill Test marks-based or just qualifying for RCFL Operator Trainee?+
The Skill Test is qualifying in nature — results are reported as Suitable or Unsuitable. It does not add marks to the final merit list. Final selection is based 100% on Online Test marks, provided the candidate qualifies the Skill Test. A candidate who scores high in the Online Test but is deemed 'Unsuitable' in the Skill Test will be disqualified. Invest time in practical chemical plant knowledge — the Skill Test is a serious gateway.
Are female candidates required to pay the ₹700 application fee?+
No. All female candidates are fully exempted from the application fee regardless of their category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS). The fee exemption covers all women applicants. Only male candidates from General, EWS, and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) categories pay ₹700. SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen (male or female) also pay zero.
What is the minimum percentage required for RCFL Operator Trainee 2026?+
Minimum 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree/diploma for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. Minimum 50% aggregate marks for SC and ST candidates. This applies to the final aggregate of your B.Sc / Diploma qualification. There is no separate minimum marks requirement for the NCVT or BOAT training certificate.
Where will RCFL Operator Trainee 2026 selected candidates be posted?+
Selected candidates will be posted at RCFL's two manufacturing units in Maharashtra: (1) Trombay unit in Chembur, Mumbai — urban posting in one of India's largest cities, and (2) Thal unit in Raigad district — industrial township approximately 100 km from Mumbai, near Alibag. Both locations have company accommodation, hospital, and sports facilities. Posting is at RCFL's discretion based on vacancy distribution between the two units.
Is the Sandwich Pattern Diploma sufficient without separate BOAT training?+
Yes. Under Option 3, candidates with a 4-Year (8-semester) or 3½-Year (7-semester) Sandwich Pattern Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Technology are eligible without any separate BOAT training requirement. The industrial training component is built into the Sandwich Pattern curriculum, and this is accepted as equivalent. Candidates must have a minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in this Sandwich Pattern Diploma.
What is RCFL's Navratna status and why does it matter?+
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited was accorded Navratna status in August 2023 — a prestigious recognition from the Government of India given to well-performing Public Sector Undertakings. Navratna companies have greater financial and operational autonomy than Miniratna or other PSUs. For employees, this translates to better pay scales, more frequent pay revisions, stronger Performance Related Pay, and greater stability. It is considered a premier PSU posting — significantly superior to Miniratna or Schedule-B PSU jobs.
