Selection Process — 5 Stages
I
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Qualifying
Male: 1.6 km race to be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds
Female: 800 metre race to be completed in 4 minutes
Note: Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET. However, they must appear in all other stages — PST, Written Exam, Skill Test (as applicable), Documentation & Medical Examination. PET is qualifying — no marks are awarded.
II
Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height & Chest
Candidates who qualify PET undergo PST. Height and chest (for male) are measured. Candidate not meeting minimum height/chest will be rejected from the recruitment process. Height and chest measurements are recorded correct to one decimal place. For example, minimum height 170 cm means all candidates with height 169.9 cm and less are disqualified. Post-wise and community-wise height standards are specified in the official notification (Pages 9–12 of the PDF). Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per Annexure-VI. Candidates may appeal PST decisions on the same day before the Presiding Officer of PST Board — the appellate decision is final.
III
Written Examination (CBT) — 150 Marks | 3 Hours
Computer Based Test (CBT) — Paper-I Common Entrance Test:
Part-I (50 Marks): General Knowledge | Mathematics | Reasoning | General English / General Hindi
Part-II (100 Marks): Technical Subject (specific to the post applied for)

Minimum qualifying marks:
• General / EWS / OBC / Ex-SM: 50% (75 out of 150)
• SC / ST: 45% (67.5 out of 150)

Final merit list is based entirely on Written Exam marks. No interview. Tie-breaking: (a) Higher marks in Part-II (Technical Subject) → (b) Senior in age → (c) Alphabetical order of first names.
IV
Skill Test — Only for Head Constable (Electrician)
Skill Test is conducted only for the post of Head Constable (Electrician), carried out on 50 marks. Minimum qualifying marks for all candidates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-SM): 60% (30 out of 50). Skill test is qualifying in nature — marks are NOT included in the final merit list. Call list for skill test: up to 20 times the vacancies (category-wise). Candidates declared qualified in Skill Test will have no surety of being called for Documentation and Detailed Medical Examination.
V
Documentation & Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)
Based on merit of written examination, candidates numbering up to 3 times the vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted and called for Documentation and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Document Verification (DV): All original documents as claimed during online application are verified by the BOOs of SSB. Candidates failing to produce originals are immediately rejected.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Conducted as per Revised Medical Guidelines dated 20.05.2015 issued by ADG Medical CAPF and amendments. Being declared FIT in DME gives NO legal claim or right to final appointment — appointment is strictly as per merit of written examination. Candidates declared unfit in DME may appeal through Review Medical Examination (RME) — RME decision is final.
💡 Final Selection & No Reserve Merit: Final selection list is prepared in order of merit (category-wise) after completion of Review Medical Examination. There is NO provision of reserve merit list/panel. If vacancies remain unfilled after declaration of final result, the same will be carried forward for the next recruitment. Biometrics of candidates will be taken at all stages for verification. No TA/DA is admissible for appearing in recruitment tests — except unemployed SC/ST candidates in Written Test who are reimbursed rail/bus fare as admissible under relevant rules, subject to production of Rail/Bus tickets, original caste certificate & Non-employment certificate issued by MP or MLA or any Gazetted Officer. 💙
