The UPPSC RO/ARO 2023 examination saw fierce competition across thousands of aspirants. The final merit list reflects not just academic preparation but the ability to sustain multi-year focus through repeated schedule changes and exam cancellations. Every name on this merit list represents an exceptional achievement.
- The UPPSC RO/ARO examination is among Uttar Pradesh's most competitive state-level administrative recruitment drives — thousands of graduates appear for a limited number of high-prestige secretariat postings
- This particular cycle tested candidate resilience — the original preliminary examination (scheduled February 2024) was cancelled, forcing aspirants to re-prepare and reappear in July 2025, adding nearly 18 months to the process
- Every candidate in the final merit list sustained preparation through a 2.5-year recruitment cycle spanning notification (October 2023), re-examination (July 2025), mains (February 2026), typing test (February 2026), and finally result (April 2026)

Mains exam
The UPPSC RO/ARO 2023 recruitment spanned over two and a half years — longer than most state-level examinations due to the cancellation of the original preliminary exam. Here is the complete chronological journey of this recruitment cycle.
Official Notification Released — Advt. A-7/E-1/2023
UPPSC released the recruitment notification for 411 posts of RO/ARO across UP Secretariat, Board of Revenue, UPPSC, and Accounts departments. Application window opened.
Online Application Closed
Last date for online application submissions — applications accepted from across Uttar Pradesh for RO and ARO posts. Application fee: ₹125 (General/OBC/EWS) | ₹65 (SC/ST) | ₹25 (PH).
Original Preliminary Exam Cancelled
The preliminary examination originally scheduled for 11 February 2024 was cancelled by UPPSC due to unavoidable reasons — forcing all registered candidates to continue preparation for an indefinite period. A difficult phase for lakhs of aspirants who had invested months in preparation.
Preliminary Examination Re-Conducted
After a gap of approximately 18 months from the original scheduled date, UPPSC re-conducted the Preliminary Examination. This two-paper objective test (General Studies 140 marks + General Hindi 60 marks = 200 marks total, with ⅓ negative marking) served as the first qualifying stage. Shortlisted candidates were called for the Mains Examination.
Mains Examination Conducted — Lucknow
The Mains Written Examination was held at centres in Lucknow district as per the revised schedule. Approximately 5,930 candidates appeared for the Mains exam across the two-day schedule. This is the primary merit-determining stage — comprising three papers including General Studies, General Hindi/General Sanskrit, and General Studies Paper-II, collectively worth 420 marks.
Typing Test / Skill Test Conducted (ARO Posts)
The Hindi Typing Test — mandatory for ARO (Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari) posts — was conducted as a qualifying stage. Candidates needed a Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute on a computer keyboard. This test does not add to the merit score but is mandatory to qualify for the final result.
🎉 Final Result Declared — CURRENT STAGE
UPPSC officially declared the Final Result for Advt. A-7/E-1/2023. 419 candidates provisionally selected (338 RO + 81 ARO) against 411 vacancies. Result PDF available for download at uppsc.up.nic.in. Anil Pandey emerged as the overall topper.
Document Verification Process (DVP) — NEXT STEP
All provisionally selected 419 candidates will be called for Document Verification Process (DVP) at UPPSC, Prayagraj. Original certificates must be produced. Date to be announced on uppsc.up.nic.in. No new documents admitted at DVP stage beyond those uploaded at application.
Final Appointment & Joining
After successful DVP, appointment letters will be issued by the respective appointing departments — UP Secretariat, Board of Revenue, UPPSC, and Accounts. Candidates will join as Samiksha Adhikari or Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari at their allotted posting.
The UPPSC RO/ARO 2023 Final Result is a publicly available PDF on the official UPPSC website — no login is required to access the merit list. The PDF lists candidates by roll number under their respective posts and categories. Here is the exact method to access and verify your result.

Finding your roll number in the UPPSC RO/ARO 2023 Final Result is a landmark achievement — but several critical steps remain before you officially join as a Review Officer or Assistant Review Officer. Here is everything you need to do immediately after seeing your name in the merit list.
| Action | What to Do | Timing |

| 2. Monitor DVP Date on UPPSC Website | UPPSC will announce the Document Verification Process (DVP) date and venue on uppsc.up.nic.in. Visit the website daily. DVP call letters are issued through the official website — not by post. | Watch uppsc.up.nic.in daily |
| 3. Organise All Original Documents | Collect and organise all original certificates — educational qualification, caste/category certificate (if applicable), DOB proof, graduation degree, 'O' Level certificate (ARO), domicile certificate, and any other document submitted at the time of online application. | Do now — before DVP call |

| 6. Check Cut-Off Marks When Published | UPPSC will publish category-wise cut-off marks on uppsc.up.nic.in. Even if your roll number is in the merit list, understanding your position relative to cut-off helps you assess your standing in case of any waiting list movements. | When published on portal |
| 7. Attend Document Verification | Report to UPPSC, Prayagraj (or designated DVP venue) on the scheduled date with original certificates, photocopies, passport-size photographs, and the DVP call letter. Attend in person — no proxy is permitted under any circumstance. | On DVP date |
| 8. Await Appointment Letter | After successful DVP, the appointing department (UP Secretariat / Board of Revenue / UPPSC / Accounts) issues the appointment letter. Join within the prescribed timeline mentioned in the appointment letter. | Post-DVP |
