Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) registration as a Special Teacher is mandatory for all posts. RCI is the statutory body that regulates training of rehabilitation professionals in India. Candidates must have a valid, active RCI registration at the time of application and document verification. Unlike NHM contractual positions, this is a permanent post in the UP Government service under the Directorate of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Selected candidates are entitled to all 7th Pay Commission benefits including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), medical facilities, and National Pension System (NPS) as applicable to UP Government employees.

Two-stage: PET-2025 shortlisting → Main Written Exam → Final merit list

Stage-I — Shortlisting via PET-2025 Normalised Score
UPSSSC prepares a category-wise shortlist of candidates based on their PET-2025 Normalised Score in descending order. Total shortlisted = 15 times the number of vacancies per category. Candidates with zero/negative PET score are excluded. All candidates at the cut-off score (up to 2 decimal places) are included. This stage does not involve any written test — purely PET-2025 score based.

Stage-II — Main Written Examination
Shortlisted candidates appear in the Main Written Examination conducted by UPSSSC. Exam format (MCQ/descriptive, marks, duration, subjects) will be specified in subsequent official notifications. The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination. PET-2025 score is NOT included in the final merit calculation.

Document Verification
Candidates in the final merit list are called for Document Verification. All original certificates must be produced — qualification, RCI Diploma, RCI Registration, category certificate, DOB proof, etc. Any discrepancy in documents leads to cancellation of candidature at any stage.

Final Appointment
Candidates who successfully clear Document Verification are issued appointment orders for Trained Teacher (JTC Grade) posts under the Directorate of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, UP at respective special schools (Hearing Impaired / Visually Impaired / Physically Challenged / Mentally Challenged institutions).
