📊 How to Calculate Your Expected CBT-1 Score

Raw Score = (Correct Answers × 1)(Wrong Answers × ⅓)
CBT-1 Pattern: 100 questions | 100 marks | 90 minutes | Negative marking: 1/3rd per wrong answer

Example 1: 72 correct, 18 wrong, 10 unattempted → Score = (72 × 1) − (18 × 0.333) = 72 − 6 = 66.00 marks
Example 2: 80 correct, 15 wrong, 5 unattempted → Score = (80 × 1) − (15 × 0.333) = 80 − 5 = 75.00 marks
Example 3: 60 correct, 30 wrong, 10 unattempted → Score = (60 × 1) − (30 × 0.333) = 60 − 10 = 50.00 marks

Note: Unattempted questions carry zero marks and zero penalty. Only compare your recorded responses (from response sheet) with the provisional key — not from memory.

Frequently Asked Questions
RRB NTPC UG CBT-1 Answer Key 2026 — CEN 07/2025
The answer key portal shows an error when I try to log in. What should I do?+
The portal at rrb.digialm.com experiences high traffic immediately after answer key release. If you encounter errors: (1) Try after some time — preferably late evening or early morning; (2) Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge); (3) Clear browser cache and cookies; (4) Ensure your Registration Number is entered without spaces. If the problem persists close to the deadline, contact your regional RRB directly. Do not wait until 5 July 2026 to check — raise objections well in advance as the portal may be slow near the deadline.
My recorded response in the answer key portal is different from what I remember choosing. What does that mean?+
The recorded response is what was captured by the computer system at the time of your examination — it is considered final. If your recorded response differs from what you remember, it could be due to: not confirming your answer before moving on, accidental key presses, or system recording the last confirmed selection. Unfortunately, your score will be calculated based on the recorded responses only, not based on what you believe you selected. Only objections to the answer key answers themselves (not to recorded responses) are entertained.
I raised an objection. When and how will I know if it was accepted?+
RRB will review all objections received from candidates and prepare a Final Answer Key after the objection window closes on 5 July 2026. The Final Answer Key will be published on the official RRB portal. Your objection fee will be automatically refunded to the same account/card/UPI from which payment was made, if RRB accepts your objection as valid. RRB does not send individual objection result notifications — you need to compare the Provisional and Final answer keys to identify changes.
Are CBT-1 marks added to the final merit list for RRB NTPC UG posts?+
No. CBT-1 marks are used only for shortlisting candidates for CBT-2. The final merit list and ultimate selection for RRB NTPC UG posts is based entirely on CBT-2 marks. So while clearing CBT-1 is essential to advance in the recruitment, your CBT-1 score does not directly determine your rank or selection. Focus on CBT-2 preparation — scheduled for 17 September 2026.
What is the safe score in RRB NTPC UG CBT-1 2026 to qualify for CBT-2?+
Based on the level of competition (63+ lakh candidates for 3,058 posts) and past NTPC CBT-1 cutoff trends, a tentative safe score estimate for CBT-2 shortlisting would be: General/UR: 75–82 marks | OBC (NCL): 70–77 marks | SC: 60–68 marks | ST: 55–65 marks. These are estimates only — actual cutoffs may vary based on this year’s difficulty level, normalisation scores, and the number of valid applications in each category. Do not treat these estimates as official cutoffs.
I appeared in multiple shifts. Will marks be normalised? How?+
Yes. Since CBT-1 was conducted in multiple shifts across different dates, RRB uses the Equi-Percentile Normalisation Method to ensure fairness across all sessions. This means your raw score is converted to a normalised score that accounts for variations in difficulty levels across different question sets and shifts. The normalised score (not raw score) is used for shortlisting for CBT-2. This is standard practice for multi-shift railway exams.
What happens after CBT-2 for RRB NTPC UG posts?+
After CBT-2 (scheduled 17 September 2026), the process for different posts is: Junior Clerk cum Typist & Accounts Clerk cum Typist: Typing Skill Test (TST) — 30 WPM in English on computer OR 25 WPM in Hindi on computer (qualifying); Commercial cum Ticket Clerk: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) — qualifying; Trains Clerk: No additional test — straight to Document Verification. For all posts, the final merit list is based on CBT-2 marks only, followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination for finally shortlisted candidates.
