The previous cycle (Intake 01/2027) received over 36.2 lakh applications — one of the highest volumes for any single recruitment drive in India. Server load on the application portal increases significantly in the final 2–3 days before closing. Submit your application well before 26 July 2026 to avoid last-minute technical issues that could cost you the opportunity entirely.
If you studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with English in Class 12 (or hold a relevant 3-year Engineering Diploma), apply under Agniveervayu (Science) — this opens up technical trades involving aircraft systems and maintenance. If your 12th-grade combination doesn't include the PCM science stream, Agniveervayu (Other Than Science) is your route, covering administrative and support trades. Airmen Group 'Y' Medical Assistant is a separate, distinct category requiring a Biology or Science background and leads specifically into healthcare support roles within the Air Force.
| Criteria | Details |
|---|---|
| Marital Status | Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry during the 4-year engagement; marriage during service results in discharge. |
| Nationality | Indian citizens only, as defined under the Citizenship Act |
| Educational Qualification — Science | Passed 12th/Intermediate with Physics, Mathematics and English, minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English, from a recognised board. OR a 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation/IT) with the same percentage criteria. |
| Educational Qualification — Other Than Science | Passed 12th/Intermediate in any stream with minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English, from a recognised board. OR a 2-year Vocational Course with specified subjects meeting the same percentage criteria. |
| Educational Qualification — Medical Assistant | Passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics and English meeting minimum percentage criteria; Pharmacist stream candidates with a Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) are also eligible under specified conditions. |
| Physical Standards — Height/Weight | Minimum height and proportionate weight as per IAF standards (varies slightly by category and gender) — verify exact figures in the official notification |
| Vision Standards | Specific visual acuity standards apply, particularly for technical trades — candidates with corrective surgery (LASIK, etc.) may face additional restrictions per IAF medical policy |
| Tattoo Policy | Permanent body tattoos not permitted except on the inner forearms, back of hand/palm, and traditional tribal tattoos as per established custom |
| Pregnancy Policy (Female Candidates) | Female candidates must undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement period; pregnancy during service results in discharge and debars the candidate from Regular Cadre selection |
| Age limit, exact height/weight charts, and chest measurement standards (where applicable) must be verified directly from the official PDF notification — these are post-category and gender-specific. | |
- Agniveervayu personnel are not eligible for Ex-Servicemen status after completing the 4-year engagement

- Candidates found indulging in malpractice or unfair means at any stage shall be permanently debarred from future IAF recruitment
- IAF reserves the right to cancel the entire selection process at any stage without assigning reasons

Beyond the Seva Nidhi lump sum, Agniveers who complete their 4-year tenure receive priority consideration for various government and private-sector jobs through partnerships the Ministry of Defence has established with PSUs, paramilitary forces, and private companies. The top 25% performing Agniveers (based on service record) are also given the opportunity to apply for enrolment into the Regular Cadre of the Air Force for a full career.

Phase-I — Online Written Examination (22–23 September 2026)
A computer-based objective test assessing general knowledge, numerical/reasoning ability, and English comprehension at a level appropriate to the chosen stream (Science / Other Than Science / Medical Assistant). Candidates indicate 5 preferred exam centre choices, though CASB reserves the right to allot any centre.
Phase-II(a) — Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Candidates shortlisted from the written exam undergo a physical fitness assessment: PFT-I is a 1.6 Km run (Male: 7 minutes, Female: 8 minutes), and PFT-II covers push-ups, sit-ups, and squats as per IAF-prescribed standards. Both components must be cleared to proceed.
Phase-II(b) — Adaptability Test-I & Adaptability Test-II
These tests evaluate a candidate's psychological suitability and adaptability to military service life, discipline, and team environments typical of Air Force operations. Adaptability Test-II is generally an extension assessing group behaviour and decision-making under structured conditions.
Phase-III — Medical Examination & Document Verification
Conducted by the Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards, including baseline investigations such as blood tests, urine tests, X-ray, ECG, and USG (for female candidates). Original documents — educational certificates, identity proof, domicile proof — are verified in parallel. An Appeal Medical Board is available (fee: ₹40/-) for candidates declared medically unfit who wish to contest the decision.
Final Selection — Merit-Based State-Wise List
Final selection is based on state-wise merit, medical fitness, vacancy availability, and overall compliance with eligibility criteria. The Provisional Select List (PSL) is published first, followed by the Final Enrolment List with e-call letters sent to selected candidates' registered emails.
