06
Selection Process — Complete 5-Stage Journey
1

Online Test (OT) — Computer Based Test

All eligible candidates first appear in a Computer Based Online Test (CBT) of 200 MCQs | 200 marks | 120 minutes. The four sections are: Logical Reasoning & Data Analysis, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness & Computer IT. Each wrong answer attracts a 0.25-mark deduction. Candidates must clear the minimum sectional cut-off AND the overall aggregate cut-off to advance to the Interview. The exam is held pan-India across all states and Union Territories.

2

Personal Interview (PI) — 100 Marks

OT qualifiers are called for a Personal Interview of 100 marks. The interview evaluates banking and financial knowledge, communication skills, analytical thinking, situational judgement, and overall suitability for a banking career. A minimum qualifying score is set by IDBI Bank. The final merit = OT Score + PI Score combined. Strong OT performance alone does not guarantee selection — interview preparation is equally important.

3

Pre-Recruitment Medical Test (PRMT)

Merit-listed candidates must clear a Pre-Recruitment Medical Test at an IDBI Bank designated centre. Physical fitness is assessed against IDBI Bank's prescribed medical standards for banking officers. Candidates found medically unfit at this stage will not receive an appointment letter, regardless of OT + Interview rank.

4

PGDBF + Training + Internship

Medically fit candidates are enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Banking & Finance (PGDBF) — a 1-year structured academic programme covering banking theory, credit management, and financial markets. This is followed by 6 months of on-the-job training (stipend: ₹5,000/month) and a 2-month internship at an IDBI Bank branch (stipend: ₹15,000/month). The entire training sequence must be completed for appointment.

5

Final Appointment as JAM Grade 'O' Officer

On successfully completing the full training sequence, candidates receive their formal appointment as Junior Assistant Manager Grade 'O'. Starting CTC: ₹6.14–₹6.50 lakh per annum for Class A city postings. After 3 years of confirmed service, JAM Grade 'O' officers are eligible for promotion to Assistant Manager Grade 'A'.

📌 Key Exam Pattern Highlights
  • Sectional timing is fixed — each section has a dedicated time limit. You cannot carry unused minutes from one section to another.
  • Highest-weighted sections: Reasoning + DI (60 marks, 40 min) and Banking Awareness (60 marks, 25 min) together account for 60% of the total score.
  • Tightest section per question: Banking Awareness — 60 questions in just 25 minutes (~25 seconds per question). Speed and pre-exam preparation are critical here.
  • Language: All sections except English Language are available bilingually in English and Hindi. The English Language section is in English only.
  • Question type: All 200 questions are objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question carries 1 mark.
Negative Marking — 0.25 Per Wrong Answer
A deduction of 0.25 marks (one-fourth) applies to every incorrect response. Unattempted questions carry zero penalty. Accuracy over guessing is the key strategy — random attempts across weak areas cost significantly more than skipping them.
📐
Sectional Cut-Offs Are Mandatory
Candidates must clear both a minimum score per section AND a minimum total aggregate. Neglecting any single section causes disqualification regardless of total score. Prepare all four sections equally.
🌍
Pan-India Exam Centres
The exam is conducted across all states and Union Territories of India. Preferred exam city is selected at application time. IDBI Bank's centre allocation is final — post-allocation change requests are generally not entertained.
🗣️
Interview — 100 Marks
The interview carries 100 marks. Final merit = OT + PI. Banking knowledge, communication, and personality are all assessed. A high OT score without interview preparation is insufficient for final selection.

📌 Preparation Strategy
  • Reasoning & DI: High-difficulty puzzles (seating, scheduling, double line-up) and DI caselets are IDBI exam staples. Practice 20–30 sets daily. Speed on caselets is the biggest differentiator between shortlisted and rejected candidates.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic is the foundation — master percentage, ratio, SI/CI, and profit & loss. Dedicate 30 minutes daily to DI sets. Strong mental calculation through estimation reduces time pressure significantly.
  • English Language: Read The Hindu Business Line or Mint daily — this builds vocabulary and comprehension simultaneously. Practise RC passages with financial themes, which are commonly used in banking exam question papers.
  • Banking Awareness: Maintain running notes on RBI circulars, key acts (SARFAESI, FEMA, IBC, NI Act), recent scheme launches, and budget highlights. Study IDBI Bank's history, subsidiaries, and products — questions about the recruiting bank are a standard feature.
  • Mock Tests: Take full 200-question mocks under strict 120-minute conditions at least 3 times per week. Post-mock section-by-section error analysis is more valuable than the mock itself — identify weak zones and address them before the next mock cycle.

How to Apply Online — Step-by-Step Guide
1

Visit the Official IDBI Bank Careers Page

Open idbibank.in. Navigate to Careers → Current Openings. Find the notification titled "Recruitment of Junior Assistant Manager (JAM) Grade 'O' through PGDBF – 2026-27" (Advt. No. 7/2025-26). Download and read the full detailed notification PDF before filling the form — note the eligibility conditions, document dimensions, and file size limits precisely.

2

New Registration — Create Your Account

Click Apply Online → New Registration. Enter your full name (exactly as on Class 10 certificate), personal email ID, active mobile number, and date of birth. A Registration Number and Password will be generated — save both immediately. All subsequent communications (admit card, result) will be sent only to the registered email and mobile.

3

Fill Personal & Educational Details

Log in and fill all mandatory fields: personal details (name, DOB, category), educational qualification (degree, university, year, percentage), and contact details. Cross-check every entry twice — errors in name, DOB, or percentage marks are very difficult to correct post-submission and can lead to rejection during Document Verification.

4

Upload Required Documents

Upload: passport-size photograph (recent, coloured, clear face, light background), signature (black/blue-black ink on white paper), left thumb impression, and a hand-written declaration in the format specified in the notification. PwBD candidates opting for a scribe must additionally upload a Scribe Declaration. Blurred, cropped, or files exceeding the prescribed size are the most common reason for application rejection.

5

Pay Fee & Final Submission

Pay ₹1,050 (Others) or ₹250 (SC/ST/PwBD) through the IDBI payment gateway. After successful payment, click Submit. Download and print the confirmation page with your Registration Number — this document is required at every subsequent stage including the exam centre, interview, and Document Verification.

✗ Common Mistakes That Cause Rejection
  • Applying with marks below the required minimum (60% General/OBC/EWS or 55% SC/ST/PwBD)
  • Uploading a blurred photograph, a digitally created signature, or files that exceed the prescribed size limit
  • Entering a name in the form that does not exactly match the Class 10 certificate
  • Submitting the form without completing fee payment — the application is not registered until payment is confirmed
  • Using a rarely-checked email ID — critical notifications (admit card, result) will be sent only to the registered ID
  • Waiting until 19 March 2026 to apply — server congestion on the last day frequently prevents submission; apply by 17–18 March
11

Left thumb impression on white paper

On formal appointment as JAM Grade 'O', the starting annual CTC ranges from ₹6.14 lakh to ₹6.50 lakh for Class A city postings. Q4
What is the PGDBF and is it mandatory for IDBI JAM candidates?
+
Yes — the Post Graduate Diploma in Banking & Finance (PGDBF) is a mandatory 1-year structured academic programme that all selected JAM candidates must successfully complete before formal appointment. The programme is delivered at institutions empanelled by IDBI Bank and covers banking theory, credit management, financial markets, and branch operations. Candidates who fail to complete the PGDBF are not appointed, regardless of Online Test and Interview scores.
Q5
How many total vacancies are there and what is the difference between JAM and AM posts?
+
IDBI Bank has announced 1,300 total vacancies: 1,100 for Junior Assistant Manager (JAM) Grade 'O' (Advt. 7/2025-26) via the PGDBF training route, and 200 for Assistant Manager (AM) Grade 'A' (Advt. 6/2025-26) via direct recruitment. The two posts have separate notifications, eligibility criteria, and application processes.
Q6

+
Yes. The Online Test carries a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions attract no penalty. With 200 questions in 120 minutes (~36 seconds per question), strategic accuracy matters more than attempting every question. Practise full mock tests to build a feel for which questions to attempt confidently and which to skip to preserve your score.
Q7
When will the IDBI JAM 2026 admit card and exam date be released?
+
The Online Test date has not yet been announced as of the short notification stage. IDBI Bank typically releases admit cards approximately 10–15 days before the exam date at idbibank.in. Since the application window closes on 19 March 2026, the exam is expected to be conducted around April–May 2026. Keep monitoring idbibank.in for official date announcements.
Q8
Can candidates from any state apply for IDBI Bank JAM Grade O 2026?
+
Yes — this is an All India recruitment. Graduates from any state or Union Territory of India who meet the eligibility conditions can apply. However, the posts are Regional in nature.
