07
Selection Process — Stage by Stage
1

Stage 1 — Written Examination (100 Marks, 2 Hours)

MPESB conducts a 100-mark, 2-hour MCQ written exam. No negative marking. Minimum qualifying marks: 33% for UR/EWS; 23% for SC/ST/OBC. EWS candidates get 10% relaxation in qualifying cut-off but are selected from the EWS merit list. The exam is OMR/CBT-based, bilingual (Hindi + English). Question papers include General Knowledge, General Hindi, and Mathematics/Reasoning.

2

Stage 2 — Category-wise Merit Shortlisting for Physical Test

After written exam results, candidates are ranked category-wise. For Van Rakshak: Merit lists are prepared district-wise and category-wise. The top 5× the number of vacancies (per district, per category) are shortlisted for the physical test. Merely qualifying the minimum marks does not guarantee a call for physical test. For Jail Prahari and Sahayak Jail Adhikshak: State-level merit ranking; top candidates called as per vacancy.

3

Stage 3 — Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Conducted by the respective department (Forest Department for Van/Kshetra Rakshak; Jail Department for Jail Prahari/Sahayak). PMT checks height and chest measurements against prescribed standards. Candidates failing PMT are eliminated. This is qualifying in nature — no marks awarded.

4

Stage 4 — Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Van/Kshetra Rakshak: Long-distance walking test — Men: 25 km in 4 hours; Women: 14 km in 4 hours. Jail Prahari: 800m race + Shot Put (as per prescribed standards). Sahayak Jail Adhikshak: 800m race + Long Jump + Shot Put. PET is qualifying only — no marks. Candidates who pass PET proceed to document verification.

5

Stage 5 — Document Verification & Medical Fitness

Documents are verified at the time of physical test (PMT/PET). All original certificates must be produced. Medical fitness certificate from the competent authority must be submitted before appointment. Passing the written exam and physical tests does not guarantee appointment — final selection depends on document verification, medical fitness, and police verification.

6

Stage 6 — Final Merit List & Appointment

MPESB prepares the final merit list based on written exam marks (only). Physical tests are qualifying — they don't add marks. In case of equal percentile in written exam, marks in the written exam are considered; if still equal, age determines seniority (older candidate ranks higher). District-wise appointment orders for Van Rakshak; state-level for other posts. Three-year probation applies to all selected candidates.

✅ Written Test (100 marks, No negative marking) ✅ Physical Measurement Test ✅ Physical Efficiency Test (qualifying) ✅ Document Verification ✅ Final merit = Written marks only ✅ 3-year probation period
