Exam Pattern — Preliminary & Main Examination

The JILCCE 2026 has a two-stage exam process. The Preliminary Exam is held only if applications exceed 50,000 — otherwise, JSSC may directly conduct the Main Exam. All exams are in CBT (Computer Based Test) or OMR mode, bilingual (Hindi & English), with Objective MCQ questions carrying 3 marks each and a penalty of −1 mark per wrong answer.

⚠️ Key Exam Rules to Remember
  • If total applications are less than 50,000, JSSC may decide to conduct the Main Exam directly without a Preliminary Exam
  • If the exam is held in multiple shifts, marks are normalised using a formula published on the JSSC website
  • Paper 1 (Language) is qualifying in nature — minimum 30% marks required — but marks are NOT added to merit
  • Final merit is based exclusively on Paper 2 + Paper 3 (Main Exam)
  • Both CBT (computer-based) and OMR mode may be used at JSSC’s discretion
  • The exam is conducted in Hindi and English — candidates can answer in either language

Complete Selection Process — Stage by Stage
1

Online Application & Screening

Candidates submit online applications at jssc.jharkhand.gov.in from 20 July to 19 August 2026. A correction window is available from 21 to 23 August 2026. Applications are screened for eligibility based on declared qualification, age, category, and post preferences.

2

Preliminary Examination (Conditional)

Conducted only if total applications exceed 50,000. A single-paper exam of 120 MCQs, 360 marks, 2 hours covering General Knowledge, Jharkhand GK, Science, Mathematics, and Reasoning. Negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer. Based on Prelim scores, candidates equal to 15× category-wise vacancies are shortlisted for the Main Exam. If applications are below 50,000, JSSC may conduct the Main Exam directly.

3

Main Examination — 3 Papers (Merit-determining)

Three papers, each of 2 hours duration, with 3 marks per correct answer and −1 for wrong answers. Paper 1 (Language) is qualifying only (30% minimum). Paper 2 (General Knowledge / Jharkhand GK) and Paper 3 (Post-specific Subject) are counted for final merit. Normalisation is applied if exam is held in multiple shifts.

4

Merit List Preparation

A category-wise and post-wise merit list is prepared based on Paper 2 + Paper 3 normalised marks of the Main Exam. Candidates above the category-wise cut-off are called for document verification. In case of tie in marks, tie-breaking criteria as per JSSC rules apply.

5

Document Verification (DV)

Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents — educational certificates, category certificates, domicile/residence proof, Jharkhand local candidate certificate (where applicable), and other relevant documents — for verification. Candidates failing DV are disqualified from the final selection.

6

Final Appointment

Candidates clearing DV are recommended for appointment to respective departments. Final joining orders and training schedules are issued by the concerned Jharkhand Government departments. The appointment is to regular (permanent) Group C posts.

How to Apply Online — Step-by-Step Guide
1

Visit JSSC Official Website

Go to https://jssc.jharkhand.gov.in — the official website of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. Click on the “Online Application for JILCCE-2026” link (active from 20 July 2026).

2

Register as New User

Click on “New User Registration” and fill in your basic details. After successful registration, a Registration Number and Password will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID. Note these credentials immediately.

3

Login & Fill Application Form

Log in with your Registration Number and Password. Fill in all required details — personal information, educational qualifications, category, and post preference in the desired order. Be extremely careful with details as they determine eligibility and category reservation benefits.

4

Upload Photo, Signature & Documents

Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature in the prescribed format and file size. Upload other required documents (category certificate, qualification proof etc.) as specified on the application portal. Incorrect file formats or oversized images are a common cause of rejection.

5

Pay Application Fee

Pay the prescribed fee: ₹100 for General/OBC/EWS | ₹50 for SC/ST of Jharkhand | Exempted for PwBD of Jharkhand. Payment can be made through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. The fee payment deadline is 20 August 2026 (midnight) — one day after the application deadline.

6

Submit, Save & Print Confirmation

Review all details carefully before final submission. After submission, download and print the confirmation/acknowledgement page with your registration number. The correction window from 21 to 23 August 2026 allows limited edits — use it if needed. No changes are permitted after the correction window closes.

🚨 Common Mistakes to Avoid
  • Do not apply on the last day (19 Aug) — server congestion is common; apply at least 5–7 days before deadline
  • Verify your post-specific stream requirement before applying — applying for the wrong post leads to rejection at DV
  • Candidates from other states must not claim SC/ST/OBC category benefits — they are treated as General
  • Ensure your 10+2 marksheet/certificate is readily available before filling the form
  • Save your Registration Number and Password — required throughout the recruitment cycle
  • Do not pay fee twice if a transaction appears to fail — wait for confirmation before retrying

Frequently Asked Questions — JSSC JILCCE 2026
Q1
What is JSSC JILCCE 2026 and how many posts are there?
+
JSSC JILCCE 2026 stands for Jharkhand Intermediate Level Combined Competitive Examination 2026, conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. It is recruiting 326 regular vacancies across 6 posts under Advertisement No. 03/2026 dated 25 June 2026. The posts are: Health Supervisor (137), Multipurpose Health Worker/MPW (62), Fishery Technical Assistant (41), Insect Collector (32), Junior Regional Investigator (27), and Veterinary Assistant/Medical Assistant (27). All posts are permanent Group C positions in various Jharkhand Government departments.
Q2
What is the last date to apply for JSSC JILCCE 2026?
+
The last date to submit the online application for JSSC JILCCE 2026 is 19 August 2026 (midnight). The deadline for fee payment and uploading photo/signature is 20 August 2026 (midnight). Additionally, a correction window from 21 to 23 August 2026 is provided for limited edits to the submitted form. Candidates are advised to apply well before 19 August to avoid last-minute server overload issues.
Q3
Is the JSSC JILCCE Preliminary Exam mandatory for all candidates?
+
No — the Preliminary Examination is conditional. It will be conducted only if the total number of applications received for a particular post exceeds 50,000. If applications are fewer than 50,000 for a post, JSSC may decide to conduct the Main Examination directly without a Preliminary round. Given that JILCCE 2026 has multiple posts and 326 total vacancies, it is likely that certain popular posts (like Health Supervisor with 137 vacancies) may attract more than 50,000 applications and trigger a Prelim exam for those posts.
Q4
Can candidates from states other than Jharkhand apply for JSSC JILCCE 2026?
+
Yes, candidates from other states can apply for JSSC JILCCE 2026. However, they will be treated as General (Unreserved) category candidates regardless of their actual category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS). This means: they must pay the General category fee of ₹100/-, they are not eligible for category-based reservation in vacancies, and they cannot claim fee exemption available to Jharkhand SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Reservation benefits (both fee concession and vacancy reservation) apply only to residents of Jharkhand.
Q5
What is the salary for posts recruited through JSSC JILCCE 2026?
+
All posts recruited through JSSC JILCCE 2026 fall under Pay Band PB-I: ₹5,200–₹20,200 with Grade Pay ranging from ₹1,800 to ₹2,400 depending on the specific post, as per Jharkhand Government pay rules. Under the 7th CPC-equivalent structure adopted by Jharkhand, the gross in-hand salary including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances for a new Group C recruit is approximately ₹25,000–₹35,000 per month. Additionally, Jharkhand Government employees enjoy job security, medical benefits, leave travel concession, pension, and other service benefits.
Q6
What subjects do I need to prepare for the JSSC JILCCE Main Exam?
+
For the JSSC JILCCE 2026 Main Exam:

Paper 1 — Language (Qualifying): Hindi / Regional Language of Jharkhand — tests grammar, comprehension, and writing ability. Minimum 30% required to qualify; marks not counted in merit.

Paper 2 — General Knowledge (Merit): Indian History, Geography, Indian Polity, Economy, Current Affairs (national & international), Jharkhand GK (history, geography, culture, government schemes), Basic Science, Mathematics, and Reasoning.

Paper 3 — Post-specific Subject (Merit): Depends on the post applied for — Biology/Health Science for Health Supervisor & MPW; Fisheries/Zoology for Fishery TA; Mathematics/Statistics for Junior Regional Investigator; Biology/Agriculture/Animal Husbandry for Veterinary/Medical Assistant; Biology/Science for Insect Collector. Focus on Jharkhand-specific topics throughout all papers.
Q7
Can a candidate apply for multiple posts in JSSC JILCCE 2026?
+
Yes, candidates can select multiple post preferences in order of priority during the online application process. The system will consider preferences based on the candidate’s merit rank and availability of vacancies in their category for each preferred post. However, candidates must ensure they meet the post-specific eligibility criteria (especially the stream requirement in 10+2) for every post they select. Applying for a post for which you don’t meet the stream requirement may lead to rejection at the Document Verification stage even if you score well in the exam. Carefully review the official notification for each post’s eligibility before selecting preferences.
Q8
What documents are needed for JSSC JILCCE 2026 Document Verification?
+
At the Document Verification (DV) stage, candidates will typically need to produce:

1. 10th class (Matriculation) certificate & marksheet — for date of birth proof
2. Intermediate (10+2) certificate & marksheet — for educational qualification
3. Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) from competent Jharkhand authority — if claiming reservation
4. Jharkhand domicile/residency certificate — if claiming local candidate benefits
5. Jharkhand Local Candidate Certificate (as per applicable Jharkhand rules)
6. Government-issued photo identity proof (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Passport)
7. PwBD certificate (from competent medical authority) — if claiming PwBD benefit
8. Printout of the online application form
9. The official JSSC JILCCE notification brochure (Parishisht appendix) has prescribed certificate formats — use only those for applicable categories.
