💡 Understanding Horizontal Reservation for Ex-SM: The 26 seats earmarked for Ex-Servicemen do not sit on top of the 265 total — they are distributed across the UR, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories. Every Ex-SM applicant is first slotted into their social category, and the Ex-SM benefit is then applied within that category. Note separately that PWD category candidates have no eligibility for this post.

Essential Qualification
🎓
Required Certificate
To be considered for this role, every applicant must carry a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCTVT (now operating as NCVT) or NCEVET. The certificate trade must match either AOCP or one of the approved feeder trades listed below. This applies equally to apprentices from Ordnance Factories and from Govt./Private organisations that hold Government affiliation.
Primary Trade (Highest Priority)
AOCP — Attendant Operator Chemical Plant
🔧
Feeder Trades (Activated Only When AOCP Applicants Fall Short)
IMCPMMCPLACPPPO Fitter GeneralMachinistTurner Sheet Metal WorkerElectricianElectronic Mechanic Boiler AttendantMechanic Industrial Electronics Refrigeration & AC Mechanic
Selection Preference Order — How the Merit List is Built
1st
Former apprentices of the AOCP trade who trained specifically at Ordnance Factory Itarsi under Munitions India Limited. This group receives the top rank in every merit list.
2nd
AOCP trade apprentices from other Ordnance Factories or from Govt./Private bodies that are Government-affiliated, provided they hold a valid NAC from NCTVT/NCVT or NCEVET.
3rd
Feeder trade applicants who have already completed a 3-month structured training programme (comprising 1 month of in-house learning and 2 months of on-the-job exposure) at any factory in the MIL group.
4th
Feeder trade apprentices from Ordnance Factories or Government-affiliated Govt./Private organisations — covering trades such as IMCP, MMCP, Fitter General, Machinist, Electrician, and the others listed above.
📌 What Feeder Trade Candidates Must Know
  • Candidates in the 3rd and 4th preference brackets are only invited for the Trade Test once it is confirmed that higher-preference AOCP applicants cannot fill all advertised seats. A cut-off on NAC marks may be used to manage the number of feeder trade call-ups.
  • Any feeder trade candidate who makes it through will be required to attend a mandatory training programme at OFI Itarsi — 1 month of classroom/in-house training followed by 2 months on the production floor — prior to being assigned regular duties. A certificate issued on completion is accepted at every factory across the MIL group.
  • Feeder trade applicants must enclose a signed Undertaking/Consent form (provided as part of the application set) confirming their readiness to work as Tenure Based CPW at OFI Itarsi.

Selection Process
1

Offline Application Screening

Every application that arrives within the 21-day window is reviewed against the basic eligibility checklist — age as on the reference date, required NAC trade, correct category, and a complete set of enclosures. Any packet arriving after the deadline, or one that is incomplete in any respect, is set aside without further consideration.

2

Trade Test / Practical Test — 100 Marks

Eligible applicants receive an email call-up for a Trade Test / Practical Test worth 100 marks. This evaluation is scheduled to take place roughly within a month after the application window closes. When feeder trade (4th preference) numbers are very large, OFI may apply a NAC mark cut-off to trim the call-up list down to a manageable size before the test day.

3

Merit List — NAC 80% + Trade Test 20%

Rankings are assigned using a two-part score: NAC certificate marks contribute 80% of the total, while Trade Test performance contributes the remaining 20%. When two candidates land on the exact same combined score, the deadlock is broken by checking four factors in sequence — OFI Itarsi ex-apprentice status first, then ex-apprentice of any other Ordnance Factory, then the higher raw NAC score, and finally the older date of birth.

4

Document Verification at OFI Itarsi

Merit-listed candidates — capped at the exact number of notified seats per discipline and category — are summoned to OFI Itarsi for in-person verification of all original documents. Eligibility is formally confirmed only at this point. Should a candidate be turned away for presenting incomplete or invalid paperwork, the next person in line on the merit list is invited to fill that slot.

5

Contractual Engagement

Successful candidates sign a formal contract of engagement — starting at one year and renewable to a ceiling of four years. Feeder trade entrants go through a structured induction first: one month of in-house sessions at OFI followed by two months working alongside experienced personnel on the shop floor, before taking on independent duties as a Chemical Process Worker.

📌 How to Package & Send Your Application
  • Use the official form available on munitionsindia.in or ddpdoo.gov.in. Write every entry in capital (BLOCK) letters — cursive or mixed-case writing is not acceptable.
  • Label the outside of your envelope with: "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF TENURE BASED CPW PERSONNEL ON CONTRACT BASIS" — written or printed clearly so it stands out.
  • Address the envelope to: The Chief General Manager, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, District Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh — 461 122
  • Record two different, active email addresses in the form. Every communication from OFI — shortlists, test dates, call letters — travels by email alone. No physical letters are dispatched.
  • Keep both email accounts and your mobile number accessible until the recruitment concludes completely.
  • Make it a habit to visit munitionsindia.in and ddpdoo.gov.in at regular intervals — candidate lists go live there first, even before emails reach you.

How to Apply — Step by Step
1

Download the Application Form

Head to munitionsindia.in or ddpdoo.gov.in to download both the application form and the complete recruitment notification. Set aside time to read the notification from start to finish — pay particular attention to the eligibility rules, the preference order, and the general conditions before you put pen to paper.

2

Fill the Form in Block Letters Only

Print the form and complete every field using capital letters only. You will need to enter your personal data, your age as calculated on 27/03/2026, your reservation category, the name of your NAC trade, your NCTVT/NCVT batch number, details of any earlier training or jobs, two identification marks on your body, two separate working email addresses, and your current mobile number. No field should be left empty.

3

Paste Photograph & Attach All Documents

Glue (do not use a staple pin) a recent, self-attested passport-size photograph into the box printed on the form. Take the spare photograph and write your full name and date of birth clearly on the blank side. Gather all required supporting documents — age proof, academic certificates, NAC certificate, community certificate (if applicable), and whichever Appendix form applies to your category — and self-attest each photocopy before attaching them.

4

Post to CGM, Ordnance Factory Itarsi — Within 21 Days

Seal everything inside an envelope and mark it on the outside: "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF TENURE BASED CPW PERSONNEL ON CONTRACT BASIS". Send it by post to: The Chief General Manager, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, District Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh — 461 122. The packet must be in OFI's hands no later than 27 March 2026 — which is 21 days from the publication date. Do not wait until the final day; post it early to absorb any transit delays.

Frequently Asked Questions
I have a NAC in Electrician trade — am I eligible for OFI CPW Recruitment 2026?
Yes — Electrician appears on the approved feeder trade list, so your NAC makes you technically eligible. The catch is that feeder trade applicants sit at the bottom of the preference ladder (4th rank). OFI will only open the Trade Test to you if the pool of AOCP applicants turns out to be smaller than the number of seats available. On top of that, winning a seat as a feeder trade candidate comes with a training obligation: a full month of in-house study at OFI Itarsi plus two months working directly on the production line, all before you are assigned independent duties.
How will I know if I have been shortlisted for the Trade Test?
Every communication from OFI travels exclusively by email — no physical letters are issued at any stage. Beyond your inbox, OFI also publishes the shortlisted candidates' names on munitionsindia.in and ddpdoo.gov.in. The safest approach is to do both: keep your registered email active and log onto those two websites at regular intervals. If your email is inactive and you skip the website checks, OFI will not re-notify you — and you will lose your chance at the Trade Test through no one's fault but your own.
What is the merit list formula and how are scores calculated?
Your final rank is a weighted blend of two scores. The marks printed on your NAC certificate account for 80% of the total, making it by far the dominant factor. Your performance in the Trade Test / Practical Test (marked out of 100) makes up the remaining 20%. When two candidates end up with identical combined scores, OFI breaks the deadlock through a four-step sequence: first preference goes to an OFI Itarsi ex-apprentice, second to an ex-apprentice of any other Ordnance Factory, third to whoever scored higher on their NAC, and finally — if still tied — to the candidate with the earlier date of birth.
Can a Person With Disability (PWD) apply for this post?
No. The recruitment advertisement explicitly excludes this post from the list of positions identified for PWD (Person With Disability) reservation. Candidates who fall within the PWD category — regardless of disability type or percentage — are not eligible to apply for this Tenure Based CPW role at Ordnance Factory Itarsi.
Is this a permanent government job? Will I get regularised after 4 years?
Absolutely not. This is a fixed-term contractual arrangement, and the notification is categorical that it carries no right to claim permanent or regular employee status within Munitions India Limited at any point. The engagement begins at one year and can be renewed annually up to a hard ceiling of four years — after which it concludes completely. There is no regularisation pathway, no absorption mechanism, and no avenue to convert this tenure into a permanent government position.
