- Category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PH/Ex-SM/Women) breakup is available in the official notification PDF at upsssc.gov.in
- Both posts are under the Secretariat Administration Department — selection is for the iconic Vidhan Bhavan (State Legislature Building) in Lucknow
- These are prestigious government postings — candidates from across Uttar Pradesh compete for these posts. Competition is expected to be high as PET-2025 had lakhs of registered candidates.
- Candidates may apply for both posts if eligible — they can indicate post preference during application
Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and have been issued a scorecard with a non-zero and non-negative normalised score can apply. The UPSSSC portal uses your PET-2025 Registration Number + OTP for login. Without a valid PET-2025 scorecard, it is technically impossible to submit an application. Candidates who did not appear in PET-2025 are not eligible for this recruitment.
| Criteria | Details |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | Pass in Madhyamik (Class 10 / High School) examination from Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, UP or any state government-recognised equivalent board. Note: Class 10 is the requirement — NOT Class 12 (Intermediate). Higher qualification is acceptable but Class 10 minimum is sufficient. |
| PET-2025 Scorecard | Must have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and received a scorecard. Normalised score must be non-zero and non-negative. PET Registration Number is used as login ID. |
| Preferential Qualification | Preference given to candidates with: (a) NCC 'B' Certificate, OR (b) minimum 2 years of service in Pradeshik Sena (Territorial Army). These are not mandatory but provide an advantage when all other conditions are equal. |
| UP Domicile | Must be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh. Reservation benefits (OBC/SC/ST/EWS) are available only to UP-domicile candidates with caste certificates issued by UP authorities. Non-UP residents treated as Unreserved (General) regardless of caste. |
| Caste Certificate (Women) | For female candidates, only paternal-side caste certificates are valid — maternal-side or husband-side caste certificates are not accepted. |
| Computer Knowledge | O-Level certification or equivalent basic computer knowledge — preferred/desirable, not mandatory. |
| Nationality | Indian Citizen with UP domicile |
| Service Rules Compliance | Must fulfil eligibility conditions as per the UP Secretariat Security & Fire Service Rules, 2000 (amended up to 2023) |
Many candidates confuse the qualification requirement. UPSSSC Fireman 2026 requires Class 10 (Madhyamik) pass — NOT Class 12 (Intermediate). This makes the applicant pool significantly larger. PET-2025 shortlisting (15× category-wise vacancies) is the first filter that reduces this large pool. Candidates who only have Class 10 are fully eligible — no Class 12 is needed.
| Category | Maximum Age | Age as on |
|---|---|---|
| General / Unreserved (UR) / EWS | 40 Years | 01 July 2026 |
| OBC (UP domicile — Non-Creamy Layer) | 43 Years (+3 yrs) | 01 July 2026 |
| SC / ST (UP domicile) | 45 Years (+5 yrs) | 01 July 2026 |
| PH / Divyang (General) | 55 Years (+15 yrs) | 01 July 2026 |
| Ex-Servicemen | As per UP Govt rules (deduction of military service period) | 01 July 2026 |
| Women (UP domicile — General) | 40 Years (or as per UP Govt order) | 01 July 2026 |
| Minimum age: 18 years for all. Age is verified only from the Class 10 (High School) board certificate — no other document accepted. Candidates claiming Mukhyamantri Abhyatvrutti scheme relaxation must produce proof as per UP Govt notification dated 30 January 2026. | ||

Stage 1 — Shortlisting via PET-2025 Normalised Score
Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Written Examination based on their normalised score from UPSSSC PET-2025. Shortlisted candidates = 15 times the category-wise vacancies. Candidates with zero or negative marks in PET-2025 are not eligible. This stage separates the most competitive candidates from the overall pool of PET-2025 qualifiers.
Stage 2 — Main Written Examination (Merit Basis)
Objective MCQ — 100 questions — 100 marks — 120 minutes. Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Covers General Hindi, General Knowledge, UP-specific GK, Elementary Mathematics, and Computer Knowledge. This is the final merit basis — final selection merit list is prepared from written exam marks (for candidates who pass PMT).
Stage 3 — Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — Qualifying
Candidates shortlisted from the written exam merit list undergo Physical Measurement Test conducted by UPSSSC. Male candidates: height and chest measurements. Female candidates: height and weight measurements. This stage is qualifying in nature — no marks awarded. Failing PMT eliminates the candidate regardless of written exam performance. Verify your measurements against the official standards before applying.
Stage 4 — Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who clear PMT are called for Document Verification. All original documents — Class 10 certificate (for age and qualification), domicile certificate, category certificate, PET-2025 scorecard, NCC/Pradeshik Sena certificate (if claiming preference), and other required documents — are verified. Any discrepancy leads to disqualification. Final appointment is after successful DV.
Final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination, provided the candidate has cleared PMT and Document Verification. Written exam merit is the only deciding factor. There is no interview. NCC/Pradeshik Sena preference applies as a tie-breaker or in close competition. PET-2025 score is only for shortlisting to the written exam — not for final merit.
👤 Male Physical Standards
👥 Female Physical Standards
- Physical standards shown above are based on UPSSSC patterns — verify exact figures from official notification PDF before the PMT date
- Height cannot be changed — verify your height now and check if you meet the minimum before applying to avoid wasted effort
- Chest expansion requires regular exercise (breathing exercises, swimming) — start physical preparation from Day 1 of application
- PMT failure means complete disqualification — even a perfect written exam score cannot save you if you fail PMT

- UP GK is the highest priority: 20+ marks specifically from UP-specific knowledge — this is what separates UP state exam toppers from other candidates. Prepare a dedicated UP GK notebook.
- General Hindi (20 marks) is fully scorable: If you are from UP, Hindi grammar and vocabulary should be high-scoring. Practice 20 Muhavare, 50 Paryayvachi-Vilom pairs, and 10 grammar rules daily.
- Negative marking (0.25): Skip questions you are uncertain about. With 100 questions in 120 minutes, you have 72 seconds per question — practice under timed conditions.
- Computer section (15 marks): Many candidates skip this — don't. Basic computer knowledge is easy to score. Study MS Office shortcuts, internet terms, and Digital India schemes.
- Don't ignore PMT: Start physical preparation NOW — especially chest expansion exercises if you are male. The written exam study should not come at the cost of physical fitness.
- PET score determines your initial rank: A higher PET-2025 normalised score means you are in a more competitive shortlisted pool (15× vacancies). Focus maximally on the written exam — it is the final merit basis.
