  • Both posts are under the Secretariat Administration Department — selection is for the iconic Vidhan Bhavan (State Legislature Building) in Lucknow
  • These are prestigious government postings — candidates from across Uttar Pradesh compete for these posts. Competition is expected to be high as PET-2025 had lakhs of registered candidates.
  • Candidates may apply for both posts if eligible — they can indicate post preference during application
04
Eligibility Criteria
Education + PET-2025 + Age + UP Domicile — all mandatory
🚫 PET-2025 is MANDATORY — No Exceptions

Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and have been issued a scorecard with a non-zero and non-negative normalised score can apply. The UPSSSC portal uses your PET-2025 Registration Number + OTP for login. Without a valid PET-2025 scorecard, it is technically impossible to submit an application. Candidates who did not appear in PET-2025 are not eligible for this recruitment.

CriteriaDetails
Educational QualificationPass in Madhyamik (Class 10 / High School) examination from Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, UP or any state government-recognised equivalent board. Note: Class 10 is the requirement — NOT Class 12 (Intermediate). Higher qualification is acceptable but Class 10 minimum is sufficient.
PET-2025 ScorecardMust have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and received a scorecard. Normalised score must be non-zero and non-negative. PET Registration Number is used as login ID.
Preferential QualificationPreference given to candidates with: (a) NCC 'B' Certificate, OR (b) minimum 2 years of service in Pradeshik Sena (Territorial Army). These are not mandatory but provide an advantage when all other conditions are equal.
UP DomicileMust be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh. Reservation benefits (OBC/SC/ST/EWS) are available only to UP-domicile candidates with caste certificates issued by UP authorities. Non-UP residents treated as Unreserved (General) regardless of caste.
Caste Certificate (Women)For female candidates, only paternal-side caste certificates are valid — maternal-side or husband-side caste certificates are not accepted.
Computer KnowledgeO-Level certification or equivalent basic computer knowledge — preferred/desirable, not mandatory.
NationalityIndian Citizen with UP domicile
Service Rules ComplianceMust fulfil eligibility conditions as per the UP Secretariat Security & Fire Service Rules, 2000 (amended up to 2023)
⚠ Common Eligibility Mistake — Class 10 vs Class 12

Many candidates confuse the qualification requirement. UPSSSC Fireman 2026 requires Class 10 (Madhyamik) pass — NOT Class 12 (Intermediate). This makes the applicant pool significantly larger. PET-2025 shortlisting (15× category-wise vacancies) is the first filter that reduces this large pool. Candidates who only have Class 10 are fully eligible — no Class 12 is needed.

05

Complete Selection Process
4 stages — PET Shortlisting → Written Exam (merit basis) → PMT (qualifying) → Document Verification
1

Stage 1 — Shortlisting via PET-2025 Normalised Score

Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Written Examination based on their normalised score from UPSSSC PET-2025. Shortlisted candidates = 15 times the category-wise vacancies. Candidates with zero or negative marks in PET-2025 are not eligible. This stage separates the most competitive candidates from the overall pool of PET-2025 qualifiers.

2

Stage 2 — Main Written Examination (Merit Basis)

Objective MCQ — 100 questions — 100 marks — 120 minutes. Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Covers General Hindi, General Knowledge, UP-specific GK, Elementary Mathematics, and Computer Knowledge. This is the final merit basis — final selection merit list is prepared from written exam marks (for candidates who pass PMT).

3

Stage 3 — Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — Qualifying

Candidates shortlisted from the written exam merit list undergo Physical Measurement Test conducted by UPSSSC. Male candidates: height and chest measurements. Female candidates: height and weight measurements. This stage is qualifying in nature — no marks awarded. Failing PMT eliminates the candidate regardless of written exam performance. Verify your measurements against the official standards before applying.

4

Stage 4 — Document Verification (DV)

Candidates who clear PMT are called for Document Verification. All original documents — Class 10 certificate (for age and qualification), domicile certificate, category certificate, PET-2025 scorecard, NCC/Pradeshik Sena certificate (if claiming preference), and other required documents — are verified. Any discrepancy leads to disqualification. Final appointment is after successful DV.

📌 Final Merit Formula

Final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination, provided the candidate has cleared PMT and Document Verification. Written exam merit is the only deciding factor. There is no interview. NCC/Pradeshik Sena preference applies as a tie-breaker or in close competition. PET-2025 score is only for shortlisting to the written exam — not for final merit.

09
Physical Standards (PMT)
Qualifying stage — mandatory — failing PMT = disqualification regardless of written exam marks

👤 Male Physical Standards

Height (General/OBC/EWS)167.5 cm
Height (SC/ST)160 cm
Chest — Unexpanded79 cm
Chest — Expanded84 cm (min 5 cm expansion)
Chest ExpansionMinimum 5 cm
WeightProportionate to height

👥 Female Physical Standards

Height (General/OBC/EWS)152 cm
Height (SC/ST)147 cm
WeightProportionate to height & age
⚠ PMT Critical Note
  • Physical standards shown above are based on UPSSSC patterns — verify exact figures from official notification PDF before the PMT date
  • Height cannot be changed — verify your height now and check if you meet the minimum before applying to avoid wasted effort
  • Chest expansion requires regular exercise (breathing exercises, swimming) — start physical preparation from Day 1 of application
  • PMT failure means complete disqualification — even a perfect written exam score cannot save you if you fail PMT

🎯 Preparation Strategy — UPSSSC Fireman 2026
  • UP GK is the highest priority: 20+ marks specifically from UP-specific knowledge — this is what separates UP state exam toppers from other candidates. Prepare a dedicated UP GK notebook.
  • General Hindi (20 marks) is fully scorable: If you are from UP, Hindi grammar and vocabulary should be high-scoring. Practice 20 Muhavare, 50 Paryayvachi-Vilom pairs, and 10 grammar rules daily.
  • Negative marking (0.25): Skip questions you are uncertain about. With 100 questions in 120 minutes, you have 72 seconds per question — practice under timed conditions.
  • Computer section (15 marks): Many candidates skip this — don't. Basic computer knowledge is easy to score. Study MS Office shortcuts, internet terms, and Digital India schemes.
  • Don't ignore PMT: Start physical preparation NOW — especially chest expansion exercises if you are male. The written exam study should not come at the cost of physical fitness.
  • PET score determines your initial rank: A higher PET-2025 normalised score means you are in a more competitive shortlisted pool (15× vacancies). Focus maximally on the written exam — it is the final merit basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about UPSSSC Fireman Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for UPSSSC Fireman Recruitment 2026?+
The last date to apply online is 29 June 2026 (11:59 PM). Applications open from 9 June 2026 at upsssc.gov.in. A correction/modification window is open till 6 July 2026 — but this is only for correcting already submitted forms, not new applications. Apply as early as possible to avoid last-day portal issues.
Is PET-2025 compulsory for UPSSSC Fireman 2026? What if I missed PET-2025?+
Yes, PET-2025 is absolutely mandatory. The UPSSSC portal uses your PET-2025 Registration Number + OTP for login. Without a valid PET-2025 scorecard with a non-zero normalised score, the application cannot be submitted — it's a technical impossibility, not just a rule. If you did not appear in PET-2025, you are not eligible for this recruitment. The next opportunity would be through UPSSSC PET-2026 (typically announced later in the year).
Is the educational qualification Class 10 or Class 12 for UPSSSC Fireman 2026?+
The official notification requires Class 10 (Madhyamik / High School) pass from Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad UP or equivalent recognised board. This is a common point of confusion — many third-party websites incorrectly state "Intermediate (12th)" as required. The official notification specifies Class 10. However, candidates with Class 12 or higher qualifications are also eligible. Verify from the official notification PDF at upsssc.gov.in.
What is the application fee for UPSSSC Fireman 2026?+
The application fee is ₹0 (zero) for all categories. However, all candidates must pay an online processing fee of ₹25, making the total payable amount ₹25 regardless of category (General, OBC, SC, ST, PH, Women). Payment via Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI, or SBI e-Challan. This is one of the most accessible fee structures in UP government recruitment.
What is the selection process for UPSSSC Fireman 2026?+
4 stages: Stage 1: PET-2025 normalised score shortlisting (15× category-wise vacancies). Stage 2: Main Written Exam — 100 marks, 120 minutes, 0.25 negative marking (this is the final merit basis). Stage 3: Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — qualifying only, no marks. Stage 4: Document Verification. Final selection is purely based on written exam marks for candidates who clear PMT.
Can I apply for both Vidhan Bhavan Rakshak and Agnik posts?+
Yes. Eligible candidates can apply for both posts and indicate their preference order during the online application process. You will be considered for both posts based on your merit and preference. However, verify that you meet the physical standards for both posts — requirements may differ slightly.
Does NCC 'B' Certificate give any advantage in UPSSSC Fireman 2026?+
Yes. The notification provides a preferential (Adhimani) qualification to candidates who hold an NCC 'B' Certificate or have served a minimum of 2 years in Pradeshik Sena (Territorial Army). This preference is applied when other conditions are equal — it may serve as a tie-breaker or provide priority in direct recruitment selection. It does NOT replace any stage of the selection process.
Is the PMT (Physical Measurement Test) important? What if I fail it?+
Critically important. The PMT is a mandatory qualifying stage. If you fail the Physical Measurement Test (height, chest, or weight as applicable), you are completely disqualified from the recruitment — even if you scored top marks in the written examination. Your written exam score carries NO weight if you fail PMT. Measure your height and chest today and verify against the official standards. Start physical training immediately if needed.
Can candidates from other states apply for UPSSSC Fireman 2026?+
Candidates from other states can apply but will be treated as Unreserved/General (UR) category — they will not receive any reservation benefits (OBC/SC/ST/EWS). Reservation, age relaxation, and other benefits are exclusively for candidates with UP domicile certificates issued by UP Government authorities.
What is the posting location for UPSSSC Fireman 2026 selected candidates?+
Selected candidates will be posted at the Vidhan Bhavan (Legislative Assembly), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh under the Sachivalaya Prashasan Vibhag. These are prestigious postings at the seat of UP State Legislature. Transfers within the department are possible after joining as per UP service rules.
