Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height, Chest & Weight Requirements

The PST is the first physical stage. Candidates who do not meet the prescribed physical standards are eliminated on the spot. The standards vary by gender and category as below.

♂ Male Candidates — PST Standards
CategoryMinimum HeightChest (Unexpanded)Chest (Expanded)Expansion
General / OBC / SC168 cm79 cm84 cmMin. 5 cm
ST (Scheduled Tribe)160 cm77 cm82 cmMin. 5 cm
♀ Female Candidates — PST Standards
CategoryMinimum HeightChestMinimum Weight
General / OBC / SC152 cmNot applicable40 kg
ST (Scheduled Tribe)147 cmNot applicable40 kg
⚠️ PST — Key Rules to Remember
  • PST measurements are taken by a committee — they are final and binding unless a candidate exercises the immediate appeal facility available on the day itself.
  • An Appeal Committee (Deputy Collector, DSP, DEO, Medical Officer) re-measures the candidate. The committee's decision is final.
  • Candidates eliminated at PST are not eligible for the PET (running test) stage.
  • For male candidates: Both height AND chest (with minimum 5 cm expansion) must meet the standard — failure in either disqualifies.
  • For female candidates: Only height and minimum weight of 40 kg are checked — no chest measurement required.
  • Weight for male candidates must be proportionate to height as per medical standards — extremely low or high weight may lead to queries.
06
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Running Standards (After PST)
Male: 4.8 km in 28 Minutes  |  Female: 2.4 km in 16 Minutes
PET is qualifying in nature — marks are NOT added to final merit | Failure = disqualification from recruitment
🏃 PET — Important Points
  • PET is conducted after candidates clear both DV and PST stages.
  • The test is a running race on a standardised track — candidates must finish within the stipulated time.
  • Candidates who do not complete the race within the time limit are disqualified from the recruitment.
  • PET is qualifying in nature — marks secured in PET are not added to the final merit list.
  • Final merit is based on Written Exam marks only.
  • Candidates are advised to practice running regularly before the PET to build stamina and meet the time requirement comfortably.
07
Document Verification (DV) Process — What to Expect

The DV is conducted by a committee comprising a Deputy Collector, DSP, District Education Officer, and Medical Officer. Both DV and PST take place on the same day at the allotted district centre.

📋 DV Committee Process
  • Committee thoroughly scrutinises all original documents — eligibility, DOB, category, educational qualification, and any other requirement.
  • Candidates claiming age relaxation must produce valid category/service certificates as applicable.
  • Candidates clearing DV proceed to PST on the same day. Candidates failing DV are not called for PST.
  • Any discrepancy in documents or forged certificates leads to immediate cancellation of candidature and may result in legal action.
  • Details declared in the online application form must match exactly with original documents. Discrepancies will lead to elimination.
08
Documents Required for DV — Original + Self-Attested Copies

Carry all documents in original along with at least one self-attested photocopy each. Carry 3–4 recent passport-size photographs (same as uploaded during application).
