Selection Process & Counselling
1

Written Entrance Exam — OMR Based (23–24 May 2026)

All registered candidates appear for the offline OMR-based DCECE exam at designated centres across Bihar. PE exam is on 23 May 2026 and PM/PMM exam on 24 May 2026. Each paper has 90 MCQ questions for 450 marks in 2 hours 15 minutes. No negative marking. Candidates must carry their admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam centre.

2

Answer Key Release & Objection Window

After the exam, BCECEB releases the provisional answer key on the official website. Candidates can raise objections against any answer within the specified window. Final answer key is published after considering valid objections, and results/rank cards are prepared based on the final answer key.

3

Merit List / Rank Card Declaration

BCECEB publishes the rank card on the official website based on marks scored in the DCECE exam. The rank is category-wise and group-wise. In case of equal marks, tie-breaking is done as per board norms (usually by age — older candidate gets higher rank). Rank card is the key document for online counselling participation.

4

Online Counselling — Choice Filling for Colleges & Branches

Qualified candidates participate in online counselling on the official BCECEB portal. Candidates fill their order of preference for colleges and branches/courses based on their rank. The counselling is conducted in multiple rounds — Round 1, Round 2, and Spot Round (if applicable). Seats are allotted strictly based on rank, category, and choice filled by the candidate.

5

Document Verification at Nodal Centres

After seat allotment, candidates must report to designated nodal centres for physical document verification. Original certificates along with self-attested photocopies must be presented. Failure to clear document verification leads to cancellation of the allotted seat.

6

Reporting to Allotted College & Admission

After document verification, candidates report to the allotted college within the stipulated date, pay the college fees, and complete the admission formalities. The academic session 2026-27 begins as per the schedule announced by the respective college and BCECEB.

Preparation Strategy & Study Tips
📚
Follow NCERT / Bihar Board Books
The DCECE PE and PMM syllabus is entirely based on Class 9 and 10 NCERT / Bihar Board curriculum. Focus on NCERT textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for PE. For PMM, focus on Science, English, Hindi, and Bihar GK. For PM (Intermediate level), study NCERT Class 11 & 12 PCB thoroughly.
📝
Solve Previous Year Question Papers
DCECE question papers from the last 5 years (2021–2025) are the best preparation resource. They reveal the actual difficulty level, frequently asked topics, and question pattern. Since there is no negative marking, attempt all 90 questions. Practice completing the full paper within 2 hours 15 minutes for time management.
🎯
Daily Study Routine & Target Topics
Dedicate 4–5 hours daily with equal time across all subjects. For PE, prioritise Mathematics (highest scoring) and Physics. For PM, Biology carries significant weight. For PMM, GK and Hindi/English are high-scoring areas. Make short notes for revision. In the final 2 weeks, focus on full mock tests and revision of weak topics only.
💡
Exam Strategy — Attempt All Questions
Since there is no negative marking, attempt every single question in the exam — even if unsure. Start with the questions you know best to build confidence and secure marks. Then attempt medium-difficulty questions. Leave very difficult questions for last and attempt them by elimination. Do not leave any question blank.
