The SSC Central Region added additional sub-centres in high-density states including Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Patna to accommodate the large applicant pool. If your admit card shows a centre in a different city than your first preference, it is likely due to high applicant density in your preferred city. You cannot request a change of exam centre after the admit card is issued.

Verify All Details, Download & Print 2–3 Copies
Carefully verify: Name, Roll Number, Date of Birth, Exam Date & Shift, Reporting Time, and Exam Centre Address. If any detail is incorrect, contact the SSC Helpdesk immediately. Download the PDF and print at least 2–3 copies — one for the exam, and backups. Carry only printed copies to the exam (not a phone screenshot). Remember: the gate closes 30 minutes before the exam — arrive early.
If your computer screen freezes, the mouse becomes unresponsive, or any other technical issue occurs during the CBT — immediately raise your hand to alert the nearest invigilator. Do NOT attempt to fix the issue yourself (do not restart the computer, check cables, or click randomly). Self-interference is against exam guidelines and can attract disqualification.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 20 | 40 | 60 minutes total (No sectional timer — move freely between sections) |
| General Knowledge & General Awareness | 20 | 40 | |
| Elementary Mathematics | 20 | 40 | |
| English / Hindi (candidate's choice) | 20 | 40 | |
| Total | 80 | 160 | |
| Each correct answer: +2 marks. Each wrong answer: –0.25 marks. Unattempted: 0 marks. Marks formula: (Correct × 2) – (Wrong × 0.25). No sectional time limit — candidates can attempt any section in any order within the 60-minute window. Paper is bilingual (English + Hindi) for all sections except English/Hindi language section. Available in 13 regional languages too. Marks are normalised if multiple shifts are conducted. | |||
- No sectional timer — you can attempt sections in any order and revisit questions. Start with your strongest section to build confidence and bank easy marks.
- Marking scheme: Each correct answer = +2 marks; wrong = –0.25 marks. The ratio (2:0.25 = 8:1) is actually favourable — even if you attempt all 80 and get 20 wrong and 60 right, your score = (60×2) – (20×0.25) = 120–5 = 115. Attempting all is generally better than leaving questions blank, unless you are completely guessing.
- Normalisation: Since the exam runs over multiple days and shifts, raw marks are normalised by SSC. Your normalised score is used for the cut-off and merit list — not the raw score.
- Regional language option: If you opted for a regional language (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada etc.) at the time of application, all sections except English/Hindi will be available in that language. Ensure you are comfortable with your chosen language.
- Reach exam centre early: The gate closes 30 minutes before the exam start time. Candidates arriving after gate closure are not permitted entry under any circumstances.

| Total 25,487 vacancies across all forces. Vacancies are distributed category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) and gender-wise (male/female). Force-wise and state-wise allocation is done during final selection based on merit and preference. NCC certificate holders receive bonus marks in the CBT score for final merit calculation. | |||
| Stage | Component | Nature | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Computer Based Test (CBT) — 80 questions, 160 marks, 60 min | Merit-based ★ — counts in final selection | ONGOING — 27 Apr–30 May 2026 |
| Stage 2 | Physical Efficiency Test (PET) + Physical Standard Test (PST) — conducted by CRPF | Qualifying only — no marks in merit | AFTER CBT RESULT |
| Stage 3 | Detailed Medical Examination (DME) + Review Medical Examination (RME) — conducted by CRPF | Qualifying only — no marks in merit | AFTER PET/PST |
| Stage 4 | Document Verification | Final eligibility check | AFTER DME |
| Final merit list is based solely on CBT marks (normalised) + NCC bonus marks (if applicable). PET/PST and Medical examination are qualifying — clearing them is mandatory but marks are not added to merit. PET/PST admit cards are uploaded by CRPF on the CRPF portal (not SSC). Selection is done state-wise and category-wise. | |||
