The Punjab Police Constable 2025-26 cut-off operates in three stages — each stage has its own cut-off threshold. Two types of marks apply at every stage: the minimum qualifying marks (fixed floor from the official notification) and the actual stage cut-off (merit-based, set after normalization). Candidates must clear both at every stage to proceed.
📝 Stage I — CBT (Paper I) Minimum Qualifying Marks
| Category | Min. Qualifying (Paper I / 100) | Paper II — Punjabi (Min.) | Paper II in Merit? |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / UR | 40 marks (40%) | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
| SC | 35 marks (35%) | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
| BC (Backward Class) | 35 marks (35%) | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
| EWS | 35 marks (35%) | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
| Ex-Servicemen | 35 marks (35%) | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
| Wards of Police / Defence | As per parent category | 50 marks (50%) | No — qualifying only |
🏃 Stage II — PST/PMT Cut-Off (For Document Verification Shortlisting)
| Category | Male Cut-Off | Female Cut-Off | Released On |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / UR | Official PDF only | Official PDF only | 18 Nov 2025 @ punjabpolice .gov.in |
| SC | Relaxed vs General | Relaxed vs General | |
| BC | Relaxed vs General | Relaxed vs General | |
| EWS | Close to General | Close to General | |
| Ex-Servicemen | Most relaxed | Most relaxed |
- Stage II cut-off = minimum normalized CBT Paper I score required to reach Document Verification, after also qualifying the physical tests (PMT + PST).
- Exact figures are in the official PDF released on 18 November 2025 at punjabpolice.gov.in alongside the Physical Stage Result.
- Male and female candidates have separate cut-offs within each category — female cut-offs are generally lower due to separate vacancy slots.
- Separate cut-offs exist for District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre — they are not the same even within the same category and gender.
📊 Previous Year Reference — 2024 DV Stage Cut-Off Trend
The 2024 recruitment cycle Stage III (Document Verification) cut-off serves as the best benchmark for 2025-26 candidates. Key pattern observed across years:
| Category | 2024 Male DV Cut-Off Trend | 2024 Female DV Cut-Off Trend | Year-on-Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / UR | Most competitive band | Competitive (lower than male) | Stable / slight uptick |
| SC | Relaxed vs General | Relaxed vs General | Stable |
| BC | Relaxed vs General | Relaxed vs General | Stable |
| EWS | Close to General | Slightly lower | Slight rise |
| Ex-Servicemen | Most relaxed of all | Most relaxed | Stable |
- Total Vacancies (1,746): Compared to 2024, the vacancy count is similar — keeping competition in the same range.
- Number of Applicants: Over 4.7 lakh candidates appeared for the 2025 CBT — extremely high competition pushes General category cut-off well above minimum qualifying marks.
- Exam Difficulty: An easier paper raises average scores and thus the cut-off; a harder paper brings it down. Normalization across 6+ weeks of shifts ensures fairness.
- Normalization: Your normalized Paper I score (not raw marks) determines merit position — students with the same raw score from different shifts may have different normalized scores.
- Category Reservation: SC, BC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen and Wards of Police/Defence each have separate vacancy pools — reserved category cut-offs are consistently below General.
- Gender: Male and female candidates are ranked separately within every category — female cut-offs are typically lower than male cut-offs in the same category.
Stage I — Computer Based Test (CBT) ✅ Completed
The CBT was conducted between 4 May and 18 June 2025 across multiple Punjab exam centres. Paper I (100 marks, 2 hours) covered Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language, and Digital Literacy — and forms the sole basis of merit ranking. Paper II (Punjabi Language, 1 hour) is qualifying only with 50% required. No negative marking applies to either paper. Marks were normalized across shifts before result compilation.
Stage II — PMT & PST (Physical Tests) ✅ Completed
CBT qualifiers were called for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Screening Test (PST) from October 2025 onwards. The PMT measured height (min. 170.2 cm for male, 157.5 cm for female/transgender) and chest measurement for male candidates. The PST tested physical endurance through running and jumping tasks. Both tests are qualifying — they do not add marks to the merit score. The Physical Stage Result was released on 18 November 2025. Note: Pregnant female candidates could request PST/PMT postponement by submitting a government hospital medical certificate — with one opportunity within 6 months of delivery.
Stage III — Provisional Final Result ✅ Declared 06 March 2026
The Provisional Final Result combining normalized CBT Paper I performance and PST/PMT qualification was officially declared on 06 March 2026 at 2:00 PM. Separate cadre-wise and category-wise merit list PDFs are available at punjabpolice.gov.in. Candidates whose roll numbers appear in these PDFs are provisionally shortlisted for the Document Verification stage.
Stage IV — Document Verification (DV) 🔜 Next Stage
All provisionally shortlisted candidates must attend Document Verification at the designated centre on the date notified by Punjab Police. Original documents and self-attested photocopies must be carried. Any discrepancy between the application data and originals results in immediate disqualification. The DV schedule will be announced at punjabpolice.gov.in — monitor the website daily. Candidates unable to produce originals will not be considered for appointment.
Stage V — Final Appointment as Punjab Police Constable
Candidates who clear Document Verification and pass all checks receive their formal appointment as Punjab Police Constable. Starting basic pay: ₹19,900 per month. Total monthly salary including DA, HRA, and other allowances is approximately ₹29,500 per month. Posting is to District Police or Armed Police Cadre as per candidate's merit and cadre applied for.
Provisionally shortlisted candidates must carry all original documents along with at least 2 sets of self-attested photocopies at the DV venue on the scheduled date. The Punjab Police Recruitment Board does not accept candidates without originals under any circumstances.
- Category certificate issued by another state or not in the Government of Punjab prescribed format — these are rejected outright regardless of category validity.
- Mismatch in name, date of birth, or category between the online application and original certificates.
- Arriving without original documents — self-attested photocopies alone are not sufficient for DV.
- Domicile / Residence certificate not of Punjab state, or issued by an authority not recognized as competent by Punjab Government.
- Not carrying the DV call letter or schedule — always download it from punjabpolice.gov.in once announced.
- Punjabi Language qualification not demonstrated at Matriculation level (compulsory for all candidates including General category).
- Dearness Allowance (DA): Revised periodically as per Punjab Government orders
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): Based on the classification of posting city
- Medical Allowance: As per state government norms for Punjab Police personnel
- Uniform & Kit Allowance: Annual provision for official uniform maintenance
- New Pension Scheme (NPS): Retirement benefit as applicable to Punjab Government employees
- Annual Increment: 3% per year as per Punjab Government service rules
- Promotion Path: Constable → Head Constable → ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) → SI (Sub-Inspector) through departmental examinations based on years of service and performance
