Each correct answer: +2 marks. Each wrong answer: –0.25 marks. Unattempted: 0 marks. Marks formula: (Correct × 2) – (Wrong × 0.25). No sectional time limit — candidates can attempt any section in any order within the 60-minute window. Paper is bilingual (English + Hindi) for all sections except English/Hindi language section. Available in 13 regional languages too. Marks are normalised if multiple shifts are conducted.
📋 Key Exam Day Strategy
  • No sectional timer — you can attempt sections in any order and revisit questions. Start with your strongest section to build confidence and bank easy marks.
  • Marking scheme: Each correct answer = +2 marks; wrong = –0.25 marks. The ratio (2:0.25 = 8:1) is actually favourable — even if you attempt all 80 and get 20 wrong and 60 right, your score = (60×2) – (20×0.25) = 120–5 = 115. Attempting all is generally better than leaving questions blank, unless you are completely guessing.
  • Normalisation: Since the exam runs over multiple days and shifts, raw marks are normalised by SSC. Your normalised score is used for the cut-off and merit list — not the raw score.
  • Regional language option: If you opted for a regional language (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada etc.) at the time of application, all sections except English/Hindi will be available in that language. Ensure you are comfortable with your chosen language.
  • Reach exam centre early: The gate closes 30 minutes before the exam start time. Candidates arriving after gate closure are not permitted entry under any circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Complete Q&A — SSC GD Constable Admit Card 2026
When was SSC GD Constable Admit Card 2026 released?+
The SSC GD Constable Admit Card 2026 was officially released on 25 April 2026 at ssc.gov.in for candidates appearing in the Week 1 CBT (27 April–2 May 2026). Admit cards for subsequent phases (Week 2, 3, 4) will be released approximately 3–4 days before each phase begins. The exam runs from 27 April to 30 May 2026 across 121 cities.
The admit card shows a different exam city than my preference — is this normal?+
Yes, this can happen due to high applicant density in your preferred city. SSC allocates exam centres based on availability and applicant volume. The SSC Central Region even added extra sub-centres in cities like Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Patna to accommodate demand. Once the admit card is issued, you cannot request a change of exam centre, exam date, or shift under any circumstances.
What is the SSC GD Constable exam pattern 2026?+
SSC GD CBT 2026: 80 objective MCQ questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes. 4 sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning (20Q, 40M), General Knowledge & Awareness (20Q, 40M), Elementary Mathematics (20Q, 40M), English/Hindi (20Q, 40M). Each correct answer = +2 marks; each wrong answer = –0.25 marks; unattempted = 0. No sectional time limit — attempt any section in any order. Available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.
My exam is in Week 3 or Week 4 — when will my admit card be released?+
SSC GD admit cards are released phase-wise, approximately 3–4 days before each exam week. Week 2 (4–9 May): admit card around 1 May. Week 3 (18–23 May): around 15 May. Week 4 (25–30 May): around 22 May. Keep checking ssc.gov.in and your registered email regularly. Do not wait for a notification — proactively check the portal.
What if I forget my SSC Registration Number to download the admit card?+
Visit ssc.gov.in and click on "Forgot Password" or "Forgot Registration Number" on the candidate login page. You can recover your credentials by entering your name, date of birth, and the email/mobile number registered during SSC GD 2026 application. Alternatively, contact the SSC Helpdesk through the query form on ssc.gov.in or your respective regional SSC office. Act well before your exam date — do not wait until the last day.
Is PET/PST conducted by SSC or another agency?+
After the CBT, candidates shortlisted for PET/PST are handled by CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), which is the designated agency for conducting the physical tests for SSC GD 2026. The PET/PST admit cards are uploaded by CRPF on the CRPF portal — not on ssc.gov.in. Similarly, the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME) are also conducted by CRPF at their designated centres.
What are NCC bonus marks in SSC GD 2026?+
SSC GD 2026 provides bonus marks to NCC certificate holders in the final merit calculation: NCC 'A' Certificate — bonus marks as prescribed; NCC 'B' Certificate — higher bonus; NCC 'C' Certificate — highest bonus. These bonus marks are added to the normalised CBT score to determine final merit. Candidates who declared their NCC certificate during application and hold valid certificates receive these additional marks. Refer to the official SSC GD 2026 notification for exact bonus mark values.
How is the final merit decided in SSC GD Constable 2026?+
The final merit list for SSC GD Constable 2026 is based on: Normalised CBT score + NCC bonus marks (if applicable). PET/PST and Medical Examination are qualifying stages — candidates must clear them but marks scored do not contribute to merit. The merit list is prepared state-wise and category-wise. Force allocation is done based on merit and candidate preference. Only candidates who clear all stages (CBT + PET/PST + Medical + DV) and rank within the cut-off are finally selected.
What details are printed on the SSC GD Constable Admit Card 2026?+
The SSC GD Admit Card 2026 contains: Candidate's Name, Roll Number, Registration Number, Date of Birth, Father's Name, Category, Exam Date & Shift Timing, Reporting Time, Exam Centre Name and Full Address, Exam City, Candidate's Photograph and Signature, and important exam day instructions. Verify all details after downloading — if anything is incorrect (especially Name or DoB mismatch with photo ID), contact SSC Helpdesk immediately before the exam.
Can I use my phone to show the admit card at the exam centre?+
No. You must carry a printed (physical) copy of the SSC GD Admit Card 2026 to the exam centre. A phone screenshot or digital copy is not accepted. Additionally, mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall — carrying one can lead to disqualification or action under unfair means rules. Print at least 2–3 copies of your admit card on A4 paper with clear text and a visible photograph.
