| Stage | Activity | Key Detail |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Application Screening & Merit Ranking | Applications ranked by aggregate % in engineering degree — separately for each state, each discipline |
| 2 | Shortlisting for Document Verification (DV) | Top candidates shortlisted in 1:5 ratio per available slot per state per discipline; intimated by email |
| 3 | Document Verification | Originals + self-attested copies verified at designated centre; no TA/DA paid |
| 4 | Final Merit List | Prepared from DV-cleared candidates; published on hindustanpetroleum.com |
| 5 | Medical Fitness Certificate | Prescribed format from a registered medical practitioner; submitted by selected candidates |
| 6 | Police Verification | Character and antecedent verification as per HPCL requirements |
| 7 | Tri-partite Apprenticeship Contract | Signed on NATS 2.0 portal between candidate, HPCL, and NATS/BOAT — formal engagement confirmed |
Key Points: No written/CBT exam — Merit = Engineering aggregate % — 1:5 shortlisting ratio — DV intimation via registered email — No TA/DA for DV — Final list on hindustanpetroleum.com
Shortlisting Ratio Explained:
- For every 1 available training slot in a state and discipline, 5 candidates are called for Document Verification in order of merit.
- Example: If Tamil Nadu has 20 Mechanical Engineering slots, the top 100 Mechanical Engineering candidates from Tamil Nadu (by aggregate %) will be called for DV.
- From those who attend and clear DV, the final merit list of 20 candidates is drawn — these are the candidates engaged as Graduate Apprentice Trainees.
- State preference and discipline selection made at the time of application are fixed — candidates compete only within the pool of their chosen state and discipline.
