Yes — if you are eligible for both the Kalyana Karnataka cadre (you must be a resident of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region) and the Mikkili cadre, you can apply to both. Since both written exams are scheduled on 02 August 2026 but at different time slots (Kalyana Karnataka: 2:30–4:00 PM; Mikkili: 10:30 AM–12:00 PM), appearing in both on the same day is practically possible. Frequently Asked Questions
KSP Civil Police Constable Recruitment 2026 — all key queries answered
What is the total vacancy in KSP Civil Police Constable Recruitment 2026?+
Karnataka State Police has announced a total of 3,991 Civil Police Constable vacancies across two separate notifications — both dated 05 June 2026. The breakdown is: 596 posts under the Kalyana Karnataka (Article 371(J) area) cadre (Advertisement No. 01/Recruitment-4/2026-27) reserved for candidates from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, and 3,395 posts under the Mikkili/Okkalida cadre (Advertisement No. 02/Recruitment-4/2026-27) open to all Karnataka residents. The Kalyana Karnataka cadre has 398 Direct Male, 133 Direct Female, 46 Ex-SM Male, 14 Ex-SM Female, and 5 Third Gender posts.
What is the difference between the Kalyana Karnataka cadre and the Mikkili/Okkalida cadre?+
The two cadres are notified under separate advertisements and have distinct eligibility requirements. The Kalyana Karnataka cadre (596 posts, Advt. 01) is reserved exclusively for residents of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region — the six districts of Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur, Yadgir, Koppal, and Ballari — under the constitutional provisions of Article 371(J). Only candidates with domicile/residence in these districts can apply here. The Mikkili/Okkalida cadre (3,395 posts, Advt. 02) is open to all eligible Karnataka residents and covers various districts across the entire state. Candidates eligible for both can apply to both cadres with separate applications and fees, and since both exams are on 02 August 2026 at different time slots, appearing in both is feasible.
What is the written exam pattern and when is it scheduled?+
The written examination is an Offline OMR-Based Objective Test of 100 questions for 100 marks, to be completed in 90 minutes (1.5 hours). The question paper is bilingual — available in Kannada and English. There is negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer. Candidates must score a minimum of 30 marks (30%) to be considered for PST/PET shortlisting. The exam is scheduled for 02 August 2026 — Kalyana Karnataka cadre at 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and Mikkili cadre at 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The syllabus covers General Knowledge, Current Affairs, History, Geography, Indian Constitution, Science, Reasoning, and General Studies.
What are the age limits and relaxations for KSP Civil Police Constable 2026?+
The minimum age is 18 years and maximum age for General Merit candidates is 33 years, calculated as on 03 July 2026 (last date of application). Age relaxations: SC/ST/OBC (Cat 2A/2B/3A/3B)/Category-1 candidates get +2 years (max 35 years); Budakattu/Forest Tribal candidates get +5 years (max 38 years); Ex-Servicemen are allowed up to 45 years as per Karnataka rules. In-service police department candidates also get specific relaxation. Category benefits apply only to candidates belonging to Karnataka State categories.
Is the Kannada test mandatory for all candidates?+
Not for all candidates — only for those who have not studied Kannada in school. Candidates who have studied and passed Kannada as 1st or 2nd language at SSLC (10th standard) or PUC (12th standard) level are automatically exempt from the Mandatory Kannada Language Test. However, candidates who have not studied Kannada — including those from other states or who studied in non-Kannada medium schools without Kannada as a subject — must appear for and pass the Kannada Language Test with a minimum of 50 marks out of 150. Failure in the Kannada test leads to elimination from the recruitment process even if all other stages are cleared.
What are the physical standards required for KSP Constable 2026?+
Physical Standard Test (PST) requirements: Male candidates must have a minimum height of 170 cm and chest measurement of 86 cm (unexpanded) with minimum 5 cm expansion. Weight should be proportionate to height. Female candidates must have a minimum height of 157 cm and minimum weight of 45 kg; chest is not measured. For the Physical Endurance Test (PET), male candidates must clear: 1,600m run, long jump (min 3.8m), shot put (5.6 kg), and high jump (min 1.1m). Female candidates must clear: 800m run, long jump (min 2.5m), shot put (4 kg), and high jump (min 0.9m). All PET events are qualifying — no marks awarded.
What is the application fee and last date for KSP Constable 2026?+
The application fee is ₹750 for General / Category-2A / 2B / 3A / 3B candidates, and ₹500 for SC / ST / Category-1 / Ex-Servicemen / Third Gender candidates. The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online. The last date to submit the online application is 03 July 2026, and the last date to pay the application fee is 04 July 2026. Candidates applying for both cadres must pay separate fees for each application.
Can candidates from outside Karnataka or other states apply for KSP Constable 2026?+
Yes, Indian citizens from other states can apply for the KSP Civil Police Constable 2026 recruitment. However, they will be considered under the General Merit (Unreserved) category only — they cannot claim any state reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/Cat-1/Kalyana Karnataka). Additionally, they must pass the Mandatory Kannada Language Test (minimum 50/150 marks) unless they have already studied Kannada as a subject at SSLC/PUC level. Candidates from outside Karnataka are not eligible for the Kalyana Karnataka cadre (Advt. 01), which is exclusively for residents of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
What is the selection process for KSP Civil Police Constable 2026?+
The complete selection process has five stages: (1) Written Exam (OMR) — 100 marks, 90 minutes, minimum 30% qualifying marks — primary merit criterion. (2) Physical Standard Test (PST) — height, chest (males), weight (females) verification — qualifying. (3) Physical Endurance Test (PET) — running, long jump, shot put, high jump — qualifying (no marks). (4) Mandatory Kannada Language Test — for candidates who did not study Kannada at SSLC/PUC level — minimum 50/150 marks. (5) Medical Examination — vision, hearing, general health fitness — by government Medical Board. Final merit list is based solely on written exam marks — no interview at any stage.

⚠ Important Warnings & Reminders
  • Apply separately for each cadre — one application per cadre — a candidate can apply to both cadres with separate fees
  • KSP does not charge any fee beyond the official ₹750/₹500 — anyone asking for additional money is a fraudster
  • Both written exams are on 02 August 2026 at different time slots — candidates applying for both must plan accordingly
  • The Kalyana Karnataka cadre is strictly for residents of the 6 Hyderabad-Karnataka districts — non-residents applying here will be rejected at document verification
  • Ensure your Kannada language status is correctly stated in the application — if you claim Kannada-medium/subject exemption but cannot prove it at document verification, you will be disqualified
  • Start physical training immediately — the PST/PET is eliminatory and follows the written exam quickly — candidates must be physically prepared before applying
  • Fee is non-refundable — verify all eligibility conditions before paying
