Q2
What is the NCL CBT exam date and how long is the exam?
+
The NCL Computer Based Test (CBT) for all 577 posts (HEMM Operator, Paramedical Staff, and Overseer Civil) is scheduled on 06 July 2026. The exam duration is 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes) and consists of 100 questions carrying 100 marks. There is no negative marking. The exam is bilingual (English and Hindi). HEMM Operator candidates appear for a common CBT; Paramedical and Overseer candidates appear for separate post-specific CBTs.
Q3
Is there negative marking in NCL CBT 2026?
+
No, there is NO negative marking in the NCL CBT 2026. Wrong answers do not lead to any deduction of marks. Unattempted questions also carry zero marks — they are neither positive nor negative. Given this, candidates should attempt all 100 questions to maximise their score. Minimum qualifying marks: 50/100 for UR/EWS and 40/100 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/ESM candidates.
Q4
What documents must I carry to the NCL CBT exam centre on 06 July 2026?
+
All candidates must carry:

1. Printed NCL Admit Card 2026 (clear A4 printout — mandatory; entry denied without it)
2. Original valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, or Driving Licence)
3. 2 recent passport-size photographs

Additionally, HEMM Operator candidates MUST also carry:
4. Original valid HMV / Transport Driving Licence (not expired) — mandatory; its absence may disqualify you

Not allowed inside: Mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, calculators, electronic pens, written notes, and any other electronic gadgets. These will be confiscated if found inside the exam hall.
Q5
I can’t log in to download the admit card — what should I do?
+
If you’re facing issues logging into the admit card portal (cdn.digialm.com), try the following steps:

1. Try Date of Birth login instead of password: Enter Registration Number + DOB in DD/MM/YYYY format
2. Clear browser cache/cookies and try again in a fresh browser session (Chrome or Firefox recommended)
3. Try a different browser or device — mobile browser sometimes has compatibility issues with the exam portal
4. Check you’re entering the correct Registration Number as generated at the time of application (check your email for the registration acknowledgement)
5. If the issue persists, contact NCL’s official helpdesk or raise a query on the candidate portal — contact details are available on nclcil.in. Do not wait until the exam date; resolve any access issue well in advance of 06 July 2026.
Q6
What is the salary of HEMM Operator, Staff Nurse, and Overseer (Civil) in NCL?
+
HEMM Operator (Trainee) — T&S Grade A:
Basic pay approximately ₹1,502.66 per day (roughly ₹39,000–₹45,000/month basic). With VDA, HRA, and other Coal India allowances, the gross package can range from approximately ₹65,000–₹75,000/month on regular pay scales after training completion.

Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Radiographer, Technician (Pathological), Overseer (Civil) — T&S Grade C:
Basic pay: ₹47,330.25/month. Gross approximately ₹80,000–₹95,000/month including VDA, HRA/company accommodation, and allowances.

Technician (Dental), Technician (Refraction/Optometry), Jr. Technician (ECG) — T&S Grade D:
Basic pay: ₹43,775.55/month. Gross approximately ₹72,000–₹85,000/month.

All employees also receive Coal India standard perquisites: PF, gratuity, LTC, medical facilities, company accommodation or HRA, and community amenities in NCL mine colonies.
Q7
Does qualifying the NCL CBT guarantee my appointment?
+
No. As clearly stated by NCL in the official notification: merely receiving the admit card does not guarantee eligibility, and candidature remains provisional until Document Verification is successfully completed. The selection has three stages:

1. CBT — determines merit rank
2. Document Verification — eligibility is finally confirmed here; invalid documents = immediate disqualification
3. Medical Examination — final fitness clearance

Additionally, NCL’s management decision in all matters relating to eligibility and selection is final and binding. Canvassing in any form leads to disqualification. Any court jurisdiction for disputes will be the Hon’ble MP High Court, Jabalpur (M.P.).
Q8
Where will NCL post selected candidates after appointment?
+
Selected candidates will primarily be posted in NCL’s coal mines and establishments, which are located in:

Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh — NCL’s major open-cast mines, offices, and hospital
Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh — Some NCL mine areas extend into this district

However, candidates should note that selected employees are liable for transfer to any mine/establishment/hospital of NCL across these areas, and also potentially to other subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) as per organisational requirements. Transfer requests are not guaranteed to be accommodated based on preference alone. NCL provides company accommodation, schools, hospitals, and transport facilities in mine colonies to employees and their families.
