Departmental candidates get a special route too. Constables, Head Constables, and Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Delhi Police can apply against Open vacancies. They need at least three years of service. Their age limit also runs higher — up to 30 years for General category, 33 for OBC, and 35 for SC/ST.

BSF alone accounts for 457 of the 1,320 CAPF posts. That’s the single largest opening in this entire notification. SSC has clearly stated it doesn’t collect or allocate vacancies state-wise, region-wise, or city-wise. Selected candidates in CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India.

A driving license rule that matters: Male candidates applying for Delhi Police must hold a valid LMV driving license, for both motorcycle and car. Without it, you’re only eligible for CAPF posts, not Delhi Police.
5. Selection Process
This exam runs through four mandatory stages. Every stage matters. Missing any one of them ends your candidature.

Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET)
Height and chest requirements vary by category and region. General male candidates need 170 cm height, with 80–85 cm chest. Hill-area and specific-region candidates get relaxed standards. So do Scheduled Tribe candidates. Female candidates face a height requirement only — there’s no minimum chest measurement for them.
PET benchmarks for male candidates: 100m race in 16 seconds, 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes, long jump of 3.65m, high jump of 1.2m, and shot put (16 lbs) of 4.5m.
PET benchmarks for female candidates: 100m race in 18 seconds, 800m race in 4 minutes, long jump of 2.7m, and high jump of 0.9m.
PST and PET don’t carry marks. They’re purely qualifying. Ex-Servicemen skip PET entirely, though they still need to clear PST.

Minimum qualifying marks (both papers): 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for all other categories.
Negative marking: Paper-I deducts 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Paper-II deducts 0.50 marks per wrong answer. That’s double the Paper-I penalty. Think carefully before guessing in Paper-II.
NCC bonus marks: NCC ‘C’ certificate holders get a 5% bonus. ‘B’ certificate holders get 3%. ‘A’ certificate holders get 2%. This bonus applies in both Paper-I and Paper-II.
Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
Every candidate who clears Paper-II gets medically examined. Eyesight standards are strict. Minimum near vision must be N6 in your better eye and N9 in your worse eye. Minimum distant vision must be 6/6 and 6/9. No corrective glasses or surgery allowed to meet this standard. Candidates also can’t have knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint.
A notable rule on tattoos: Tattoos are allowed only in specific conditions. Religious symbols or your name, following Indian Army convention, are permitted. They must sit on your left forearm only, or the back of your hands. Size must stay under one-quarter of that body part.
Seven obstacle events after selection: Finally selected candidates must pass seven physical obstacle events during training. These include the vertical board, Tarzan swing, monkey crawl, and vertical rope. Failing these can mean you don’t get retained in the force.
6. Salary & Pay Structure
All posts in this notice sit at Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission’s Pay Matrix. That’s a monthly pay range of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400. Beyond basic pay, selected candidates also receive standard central government allowances.
Selected candidates serve a 2-year probation period. Every post except SI in Delhi Police carries All India Service Liability. You may be posted anywhere in the country.
