- The above are expected/estimated cutoffs based on expert analysis — the official category-wise and district-wise cutoff marks are available at the end of each district’s DV/PST shortlisted PDF at uppbpb.gov.in
- Cutoff varies district-to-district based on the number of applicants and available vacancies in each district — a district with fewer vacancies and more applicants will have a higher cutoff
- The minimum qualifying mark is 25/100 — but this alone does NOT guarantee selection; candidates must score at or above the district-level cutoff for their category to appear in the DV/PST shortlist
- Preference/bonus marks (for NCC, Scout & Guide, Disaster Management certificate, Driving Licence) are added to written exam scores when preparing the merit list — these can prove decisive for borderline candidates
- Tiebreaker rule: If two candidates score equal marks in the merit list, the older candidate is given preference
- Experts advise that candidates who correctly attempted 70–75 questions should begin preparing for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) without waiting for results
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks | Expected Cutoff Range | Expert Advice |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / UR | 25/100 (25%) | 65–75 marks | Start PET prep if scored 70+ |
| OBC / EWS | 25/100 (25%) | 58–68 marks | Start PET prep if scored 62+ |
| SC | 25/100 (25%) | 50–58 marks | Start PET prep if scored 54+ |
| ST | 25/100 (25%) | 45–55 marks | Start PET prep if scored 49+ |
| Official district-wise cutoff is available in each district’s DV/PST shortlisted PDF at uppbpb.gov.in — always check the official cutoff for your specific district and category | |||
(A / B / C Grade)
Certificate
Training Certificate
Licence (LMV/HMV)
The final merit list for UP Home Guard 2026 is not based solely on raw written exam marks. UPPRPB first normalises the written exam scores (to adjust for any variation across exam shifts/dates) and then adds preference marks for eligible qualifications — NCC certificate (A/B/C grade), Scout & Guide certificate, valid Disaster Management training certificate, and valid motor driving licence (LMV or HMV). These bonus marks are added to the normalised written score to arrive at the final composite score used for district-wise, category-wise merit ranking. Candidates holding any of these certificates must bring the original certificate for verification at the DV stage — without original proof, bonus marks may be cancelled and the merit rank recalculated. Even a small bonus mark addition can make a crucial difference for borderline candidates in competitive districts.
👨 Male Candidates
👩 Female Candidates
| Stage | Test | Details | Nature |
|---|---|---|---|
| PST | Height Measurement | Male: 168 cm (Gen/OBC/SC) | 160 cm (ST) Female: 152 cm (Gen/OBC/SC) | 147 cm (ST) | Qualifying Only No marks awarded Fail = Out of selection |
| PST | Chest (Male only) | Unexpanded: 81 cm | Expanded: 86 cm | Minimum 5 cm expansion mandatory | |
| PST | Weight (Female only) | Minimum 40 kg | |
| PET | Running Race — Male | 4.8 km in 28 minutes — 1 attempt only, no second chance | Qualifying Only No marks awarded Fail = Out of selection |
| PET | Running Race — Female | 2.4 km in 16 minutes — 1 attempt only, no second chance |
- The PET is qualifying in nature — no marks are awarded — but failing means permanent elimination from the selection process, regardless of your written exam score
- There is only one attempt at the running race — no re-run is allowed under any circumstances
- For male candidates: start training to complete 4.8 km in under 25 minutes during practice — this creates a buffer for race-day nerves, fatigue, weather, and track conditions
- For female candidates: train to complete 2.4 km in under 14 minutes during practice for the same reason
- Build up gradually — start with daily 2–3 km jogs and increase to race distance over 4–6 weeks
- DV/PST schedule has not yet been released — use this waiting period to train consistently
Written Examination — Completed ✅ (25–27 April 2026)
100 questions, 100 marks, 120 minutes. Objective MCQ format (OMR-based offline). Single subject: General Knowledge — covering Indian History, Geography, Constitution, Economy, Science, Current Affairs, Sports, Awards, and importantly Uttar Pradesh-specific GK (UP history, administration, police system, government schemes). No negative marking. Minimum qualifying: 25/100 (25%). Normalised scores + preference marks = final merit score for district-wise ranking.
Written Result & Merit List — Declared ✅ (28 June 2026)
UPPRPB has released the written exam result on 28 June 2026. 1,07,221 candidates have been shortlisted. Merit list is prepared district-wise and category-wise by adding preference marks to normalised written scores. District-wise cutoff marks are published in the DV/PST shortlisted PDF at uppbpb.gov.in.
Document Verification (DV) — Schedule Awaited
Shortlisted candidates will be called district-wise for Document Verification at the prescribed venue. Documents to carry: 10th Marksheet & Certificate (original), Category/Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC — OBC non-creamy layer: not older than 3 years), Domicile/Residential Certificate, Age Proof, Photograph ID, and all bonus mark certificates (NCC, Scout & Guide, Disaster Management, Driving Licence) in original. Candidates must carry the printed scorecard and DV call letter.
Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height / Chest / Weight
Measured immediately at the DV venue or as per schedule. Male: Height 168 cm (Gen/OBC/SC) | Chest 81–86 cm (min. 5 cm expansion). Female: Height 152 cm (Gen/OBC/SC) | Weight min. 40 kg. Qualifying in nature — no marks. Failure at PST = eliminated from selection.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Running Race
Male: 4.8 km run in 28 minutes. Female: 2.4 km run in 16 minutes. Only one attempt — no second chance. Qualifying only — no marks. Candidates who fail the running race are eliminated permanently from this recruitment cycle.
Medical Examination
Candidates who clear PST and PET undergo a medical examination to assess physical and mental fitness for the Home Guard role. Standards as per UPPRPB and UP Home Guard Act norms. Qualifying in nature.
Police Verification & Final Enrolment
A Police Verification (character/antecedent verification) is conducted for candidates clearing all above stages. On successful completion, candidates are finally enrolled as Home Guard (Swayamsevak) for their respective district. The final merit list for all 41,424 posts is based on the combined process — written exam score (with bonus marks) being the primary ranking factor, with all subsequent stages being qualifying in nature.
