Selection Process
1

Stage 1 — Competitive Written Examination (CBRT / OMR)

The selection is based on a single-stage MCQ-type competitive examination conducted by GSSSB using either the Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) or OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) method. The exam comprises 210 questions carrying 210 marks to be answered in 3 hours (180 minutes). The paper is conducted in Gujarati and English. Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies per wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks of 40% are required in both Part-A and Part-B separately for all categories.

2

Special Marks for Widows, Divorced Women & Sports Persons

As per Gujarat Government policy, eligible Widows and Divorced Women (not re-married) and candidates who hold valid Sports certificates from the competent authority receive an additional 5% of marks added to their competitive exam score for the purpose of merit calculation. These extra marks are applied after the exam result, not during the exam itself.

3

Stage 2 — Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of merit in the written examination are called for Document Verification. All original certificates and self-attested photocopies must be produced at this stage. Candidates claiming reservation must carry the relevant category certificate in the correct Government-prescribed format. Any discrepancy between the online application and original documents leads to disqualification at this stage.

4

Stage 3 — Final Merit List & Appointment

After successful Document Verification, GSSSB prepares the final merit list based on written exam scores (with applicable additional marks for eligible categories). The list is published on the official GSSSB and OJAS websites. Appointment orders are issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department. Selected candidates are posted across various health centres and sub-centres in Gujarat as per departmental requirements and seniority.

Preparation Strategy for GSSSB MPHW Exam 2026
📚 Subject-Wise Preparation Tips
  • Part-A (Reasoning & Maths): These two sections together carry 60 marks and are the most reliable for scoring high. Practice at least 30–50 questions daily from standard books. Focus on Data Interpretation tables and Profit-Loss / Time-Work problems which appear frequently in GSSSB exams.
  • Constitution of India (10 marks): Study the NCERT Political Science Class 11 & 12 textbooks alongside the Gujarat Government GK material. Focus on Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, and emergency provisions.
  • Current Affairs (10 marks): Read a monthly current affairs magazine or digest focusing on Gujarat state news, National Health Mission updates, and Union Budget health allocations for 2025-26.
  • Comprehension (10 marks): Practice Gujarati paragraph comprehension daily — read the Gujarat Samachar or Sandesh newspaper to improve Gujarati reading speed. For English comprehension, read short editorial passages from standard books.
  • Part-B Technical (120 marks): This section carries over 57% of the total marks and is the most important differentiator. Study your MPHW course material thoroughly. Special attention to: all 7 major health committees (Bhore, Mudaliar, Chadda, Mukherjee, Jungalwalla, Kartarsinh, Shrivastav), current Government health schemes, vaccine schedule, and mental health definitions.
  • Previous Year Papers: Solve at least 3–5 previous GSSSB MPHW and GPSSB MPHW question papers under timed conditions to understand the difficulty level and question pattern.
  • Negative Marking Caution: At 0.25 marks per wrong answer, avoid random guessing. Attempt questions where you are at least 60% confident. Leaving a question blank is safer than guessing in a competitive exam where the margin between selection and rejection is small.
