Selection Process — Stage-wise for ASI Posts
Key Advantage for ASI Posts: Unlike Head Constable and Constable posts in the same recruitment drive, ASI posts do NOT require a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The selection process begins directly from PST (Physical Standard Test) — making this a significant advantage for candidates who are technically proficient but not focused on running events. The Written CBT for ASI posts is also more comprehensive at 150 marks / 3 hours compared to 100 marks for HC/Constable posts. 🏆
I
Physical Standard Test (PST) — NO PET Required for ASI Posts
ASI posts are completely exempt from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates directly undergo PST — measurement of height and chest (chest for male candidates only) as per the prescribed community-wise standards in the official notification. Female candidates are not required to undergo chest measurement. Minimum standards vary by community (UR/OBC/SC/ST, Hill/Tribal categories etc.). Candidates who do not meet the minimum prescribed physical standards are eliminated at this stage itself. Candidates may appeal PST decisions on the same day before the Presiding Officer — the appellate decision is final and binding.
II
Written Examination (CBT) — 150 Marks | 3 Hours | 150 MCQ
Part-I (50 Marks) — General Paper: General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning Ability, General English / General Hindi

Part-II (100 Marks) — Technical Paper (Trade-Specific):
• ASI (Radiographer): Questions from Radiography and Medical Imaging Technology
• ASI (Pharmacist): Questions from Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences
• ASI (OT Technician): Questions from Operation Theatre Technology and Surgical Procedures
• ASI (Dental Technician): Questions from Dental Technology, Oral Anatomy and Dental Materials

Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50% for UR/EWS/OBC/Ex-SM | 45% for SC/ST

Final merit list is prepared exclusively on Written CBT marks. No interview at any stage. Tie-breaking: (1) Higher marks in Part-II Technical paper → (2) Senior in age (older candidate preferred) → (3) Alphabetical order of first name.
III
Documentation — Verification of Original Certificates
Based on merit of the written examination, candidates up to 3 times the vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted and called for Document Verification. All original certificates must be produced at this stage — 10th/12th marksheets, diploma certificates, experience certificates from recognised hospitals, statutory registration certificates (Pharmacy Act / DCI as applicable), category certificates, Aadhaar Card, and NOC from employer if applicable. Failure to produce any original document leads to immediate cancellation of candidature. Biometrics are collected.
IV
Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)
Candidates who clear documentation undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME) as per the Revised Medical Guidelines issued by ADG Medical CAPF. Being declared medically fit in DME does NOT guarantee final appointment — appointment is strictly in order of merit of the written examination. Candidates declared unfit in DME may appeal through Review Medical Examination (RME). The RME decision is final — no further appeal or legal recourse is available after RME. There is no reserve merit list — if vacancies remain unfilled, they are carried forward to the next recruitment cycle.
💡 Final Merit & No Reserve Panel: The final selection list is published strictly in descending order of Written CBT marks (category-wise) after completion of DME/RME. No reserve merit list/panel is maintained. Biometrics of both thumbs are taken at all stages for identity verification. No TA/DA is paid for attending PST or the written examination. Exception: Unemployed SC/ST candidates attending the Written Test may claim rail/bus fare reimbursement on production of Rail/Bus tickets, original caste certificate and a non-employment certificate signed by an MP, MLA or Gazetted Officer. 🏆
08
Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height & Chest Requirements
CategoryMale HeightFemale HeightMale Chest (Unexpanded)Female Chest
General (UR / EWS / OBC / SC)170 cm157 cmMin 80 cm | Expansion min +5 cmNot Applicable
Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkim, NE States (Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam), Himachal Pradesh, UT J&K165 cm155 cmMin 78 cm | Expansion min +5 cmNot Applicable
Scheduled Tribes (All States)162.5 cm150 cmMin 76 cm | Expansion min +5 cmNot Applicable
📌 Candidates seeking relaxed height/chest standards based on community must produce the requisite community/domicile certificate from concerned District Authorities at the time of PST itself. Non-production of certificate at PST means the relaxation claim will be rejected and candidature cancelled on the spot. Weight should be proportionate to height and age — overweight or underweight candidates are disqualified at DME. Height measurements are recorded correct to one decimal place (e.g., a minimum of 170 cm means 169.9 cm or below is a rejection). 🏆
