AP High Court Recruitment 2026 — 300 Vacancies Across 13 Posts High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati | Notification No. 01/2026/Estt. | Dt. 20.03.2026 | Online at aphc.gov.in
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati has released Recruitment Notification No. 01/2026/Estt. dated 20 March 2026 for 300 posts across 13 categories — Section Officer, Senior System Officer, Computer Operator, Assistant Librarian, Librarian Grade-II, U.D. Stenographer, Assistant, Examiner, Typist, Copyist, Data Entry Operator, Stenographer, and Office Subordinate. This is a Direct Recruitment under the Service Rules of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, 2025. Apply online at aphc.gov.in from 30 March to 19 April 2026 at 11:59 PM. Selection: Computer Based Test (CBT) of 80 questions + Skill Test for specified posts. Women reservation: 33⅓%. Age: 18–42 years as on 01.01.2026.
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh is the apex judicial authority for the state, and positions within the High Court's administrative establishment are among the most coveted judicial service roles in Andhra Pradesh. This recruitment — issued under Notification No. 01/2026/Estt. dated 20 March 2026 — fills 300 posts across a wide range of administrative, technical, and clerical categories. What makes this recruitment particularly significant is that it is governed by the newly enacted Service Rules of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, 2025 — the first comprehensive service rules framework for the High Court under the reorganised state of Andhra Pradesh. This means the service conditions, probation terms, and career progression rules are freshly defined and may differ from earlier recruitment cycles.
The 300 vacancies are a combination of carried-forward vacancies (posts that went unfilled in previous recruitment cycles due to various reasons) and fresh vacancies arising from retirements, promotions, and new sanctioned positions. Candidates should note that the High Court reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel vacancies at any point without assigning reasons — this is standard practice in judicial recruitment notifications across India. The application window is 20 days (30 March to 19 April 2026) with a hard portal closure at 11:59 PM on the last date. No extensions or late applications will be entertained.

The application timeline for AP High Court Recruitment 2026 is tighter than most state government recruitments — just 20 days from portal opening to closing. This short window is deliberate: the High Court administration prefers a focused application period to manage the volume of applicants for a 300-post recruitment in one of AP's most sought-after judicial service opportunities. Candidates who have already read the notification should begin preparing their documents now, so they are ready to apply the moment the portal opens on 30 March 2026.
One important aspect of this timeline is that the exam date, admit card schedule, and Skill Test dates are not yet announced in the notification — they will be published separately on aphc.gov.in after the application window closes. This means candidates must regularly check the official website after 19 April 2026 for all subsequent updates. Relying on third-party websites for exam schedule updates is risky — always verify from aphc.gov.in directly.

The 300 vacancies span a wide salary range — from ₹20,000 per month for Office Subordinate to ₹57,100 per month for Section Officer. This range reflects the diversity of roles within the High Court's establishment. At the senior end, the Section Officer is a gazetted supervisory role requiring a Law degree — one of the most prestigious non-judicial administrative positions in the High Court. At the junior end, Office Subordinate is specifically designed for candidates whose highest qualification is below Intermediate — a deliberate inclusionary measure. The largest single category is Assistant with 78 vacancies, followed by DEO with 50, making these two the most accessible posts by volume.
Each post carries a unique Post Code (1 through 13) that must be correctly selected during the online application. The pay scales are as per the 7th Pay Commission matrix adopted by Andhra Pradesh, and all appointees will be covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) — not the old defined-benefit pension scheme. This is an important distinction for candidates comparing this role with older government positions that offered guaranteed pensions.

The educational eligibility requirements for AP High Court 2026 are more specific than most state government recruitments. Several posts require not just a degree but a degree in a specific discipline — Law for Section Officer, Computer Science for Computer Operator and DEO, Library Science for the Librarian posts. This specialisation reflects the nature of work in each role within the High Court's establishment. Candidates should verify their degree discipline carefully before applying, particularly for posts that specify Computer Science as a "main subject."
One provision that stands out is the Office Subordinate eligibility cap: candidates with qualifications higher than Intermediate (12th standard) are explicitly barred from applying for this post. This is not common in government recruitment and deserves special attention — a graduate who applies for Office Subordinate will be rejected at certificate verification, and the examination fee paid will not be refunded. Additionally, all typewriting and shorthand speed certificates must be from Government Technical Examinations specifically — private institute certificates, no matter how reputed the institution, are not accepted.
| Post (Code) | Educational Qualification | Additional Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Section Officer (1) | Degree in Law (3-yr or 5-yr) from UGC-recognised university | Preference for candidates with computer skills |
| Senior System Officer (2) | B.Tech (CSE/ECE/EEE/IT) or M.Sc. Computer Science from UGC-recognised university | 5 years' work experience in Networking & Server Maintenance/Administration |
| Computer Operator (3) | Degree in Computer Science from UGC-recognised university | Govt. technical exam: Typewriting (English) Higher Grade — 45 w.p.m. |
| Assistant Librarian (4) | Degree in Law (3-yr or 5-yr) + B.Li.Sc. | Computer skills certificate for library management from reputed institution |
| Librarian Grade-II (5) | Any Degree + B.Li.Sc. | — |
| U.D. Stenographer (6) | Any Degree from UGC-recognised university | Shorthand (English) 120 w.p.m. + Typewriting (English) HG 45 w.p.m. |
| Assistant (7) & Examiner (8) | Any Degree from UGC-recognised university | — |
| Typist (9) & Copyist (10) | Any Degree from UGC-recognised university | Govt. exam: Typewriting (English) HG — 45 w.p.m. |
| Data Entry Operator (11) | Degree with Computer Science as main subject | Govt. exam: Typewriting (English) HG — 45 w.p.m. |
| Stenographer (12) | Any Degree from UGC-recognised university | Shorthand (English) 80 w.p.m. + Typewriting (English) HG 45 w.p.m. |
| Office Subordinate (13) | Pass in 7th Class or equivalent. Failed Intermediate candidates eligible | ⚠️ Candidates with higher qualification than Intermediate shall NOT be considered |
- Office Subordinate cap: Graduates and above are explicitly ineligible — applying will result in rejection at certificate verification with no fee refund
- Computer Science as "main subject" (DEO): Must be a principal subject in your degree — elective or subsidiary Computer Science typically does not qualify
- Typewriting/Shorthand certificates: Only Government Technical Examination certificates accepted — private institution certificates are rejected
- University recognition: All degrees must be from UGC-recognised universities — unrecognised/deemed university degrees are rejected
- Law degree for Section Officer: Both 3-year LLB and 5-year integrated LLB are valid. Diploma in Law or correspondence degrees from non-UGC institutions are NOT valid
The age limit for AP High Court Recruitment 2026 is set with 01 January 2026 as the reference date — not the notification date or application date. This is specified under G.O.Ms.No.109, General Administration Department, dated 08.10.2025. A uniform age range of 18–42 years applies to all 13 post categories — there is no post-specific lower or upper age limit variation, which simplifies eligibility checking. Candidates who turned 18 on or before 01.01.2026 and have not yet crossed 42 years as on that date are eligible for any post they meet the educational criteria for.
The Ex-Servicemen (ESM) age relaxation deserves special attention: under Rule 12(1)(c)(i) of AP State and Subordinate Service Rules, the period of military service is deducted from the actual age to arrive at the "reckoned age" — if this reckoned age falls within the prescribed limit, the ESM is eligible. This can allow some veterans to apply even if their actual age exceeds 42. ESM candidates must calculate their reckoned age carefully before applying.
- Reference Date: 01 January 2026 — per G.O.Ms.No.109, General Administration Dept., dated 08.10.2025
- SC/ST/BC/EWS: Upper age relaxed by 5 years — maximum becomes 47 years
- PwBD: Age relaxation of 10 years — maximum becomes 52 years for UR-PwBD
- Ex-Servicemen: Military service period deducted from actual age per Rule 12(1)(c)(i) of AP State and Subordinate Service Rules
- Meritorious Sports Persons: Age relaxation as prescribed for their respective community/category
The selection process for AP High Court 2026 has a critical structural feature that many candidates miss: there are two fundamentally different selection tracks depending on the post. For posts like Assistant, Examiner, Section Officer, and Librarian, the CBT marks directly determine the final merit list — the highest scorer gets selected. For posts like Computer Operator, Typist, DEO, and Stenographers, the CBT is only a screening filter — candidates who clear the minimum qualifying marks in CBT are then called for a Skill Test, and the final merit is based entirely on Skill Test performance. Candidates preparing for the second track need to focus their energy on the Skill Test from day one, not just on the CBT.
The CBT itself is straightforward: 80 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 90 minutes total, no negative marking. The question paper is bilingual (English and Telugu) — but in case of any ambiguity or discrepancy between the two language versions, the English version is treated as final. If the exam is conducted across multiple shifts, the High Court will apply score normalisation to account for difficulty variation — this is an important consideration for candidates who appear in potentially harder shifts, as their raw scores will be adjusted upward proportionally.
| Post Group | Posts Covered | Subjects & Marks | Exam Standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group A | Section Officer (Post 1) | General Knowledge (20M) + Mental Ability (10M) + Law — Civil & Criminal (50M) | Degree Level |
| Group B | Sr. System Officer, Computer Operator, Asst. Librarian, Librarian Gr-II, UD Steno, Assistant, Examiner, Typist, Copyist, DEO, Stenographer (Posts 2–12) | General Knowledge (40M) + Mental Ability (40M) | Degree Level |
| Group C | Office Subordinate (Post 13) | General Knowledge (50M) + Mental Ability (30M) | 10th Standard |
| Post | Skill Test Type | CBT Role | Final Merit Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior System Officer | Practical — Networking & Server Administration | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| Computer Operator | Typewriting (English) 45 w.p.m. + Computer practical | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| U.D. Stenographer | Shorthand 120 w.p.m. + Typewriting 45 w.p.m. | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| Stenographer | Shorthand 80 w.p.m. + Typewriting 45 w.p.m. | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| Typist | Typewriting (English) 45 w.p.m. | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| Copyist | Typewriting (English) 45 w.p.m. | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| Data Entry Operator | Typewriting 45 w.p.m. + Data entry speed/accuracy | Screening only | Skill Test Only |
| CBT = Final Merit: Section Officer, Asst. Librarian, Librarian Gr-II, Assistant, Examiner, Office Subordinate | |||
- Open Competition (UR) and EWS: Minimum 40% — 32 out of 80 marks
- Backward Classes (BC-A/B/C/D/E): Minimum 35% — 28 out of 80 marks
- SC, ST, and PwBD: Minimum 30% — 24 out of 80 marks
- Important: Meeting the minimum qualifying mark qualifies you for merit consideration only — effective cutoffs will be much higher due to competition for limited seats
- Multi-shift normalisation: Score normalisation will be applied if CBT is conducted across multiple shifts to account for difficulty variation
For the vast majority of candidates applying for Group B posts (Assistant, DEO, Typist, Copyist, Computer Operator etc.), the CBT syllabus is split equally between General Knowledge (40 marks) and Mental Ability (40 marks). The equal weightage means you cannot afford to be strong in only one section — a candidate who scores 38/40 in GK but only 20/40 in Mental Ability will typically be outcompeted by someone with a balanced 30/40 + 30/40 performance. The AP High Court GK section has a notable emphasis on AP-specific GK — Andhra Pradesh state government schemes, AP history, culture, geography, and administrative developments — which is often underestimated by candidates who only prepare national-level GK.
The Section Officer CBT (Group A) is a completely different challenge: 50 out of 80 marks come from Law subjects — CPC, CrPC, IPC, Evidence Act, Constitutional Law, and High Court Rules & Practice. This is LLB-level knowledge being tested in an MCQ format within 90 minutes, which requires focused legal preparation rather than general government exam preparation. Candidates applying for Section Officer alongside other posts must ensure their Law preparation does not get diluted by the GK/Mental Ability preparation for other posts.
| Section | Key Topics | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Knowledge | Current Events (National & International) | Indian History | Indian Geography | Indian Polity & Constitution | Indian Economy | Science & Technology | Sports & Awards | AP-specific GK (Govt. Schemes, History, Culture) | Environment | Art & Culture of AP | 40M (Group B) | 50M (Office Sub.) | 20M (Sec. Officer) |
| Mental Ability | Number Series & Analogies | Coding-Decoding | Blood Relations | Directions | Syllogisms | Seating Arrangements | Venn Diagrams | Data Interpretation | Mathematical Operations | Logical Reasoning | Statement–Conclusion | Non-verbal Reasoning | 40M (Group B) | 30M (Office Sub.) | 10M (Sec. Officer) |
| Law (Section Officer only) | Civil Procedure Code | CrPC | Indian Evidence Act | IPC | Limitation Act | Transfer of Property Act | Contract Act | Constitutional Law (Fundamental Rights, DPSPs, Judiciary) | AP High Court Rules & Practice | 50M |
The examination fee for AP High Court 2026 is charged on a per post basis — not a one-time payment. This is a significant financial consideration for candidates who wish to apply for multiple posts. If you apply for both Assistant (Post Code 7) and DEO (Post Code 11), you pay ₹800 twice — ₹1,600 in total. For SC/ST candidates (AP state only), this would be ₹400 per post. There is no cap on the number of posts you can apply for, and no discount for applying to multiple posts simultaneously. Each application is treated as completely independent.
An important nuance in the fee structure: the concessional ₹400 rate for SC/ST candidates applies only to candidates whose community is recognised as SC or ST in the State of Andhra Pradesh. SC/ST candidates from other states — including Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, or any other state — are required to pay the full ₹800 fee, even if they hold a valid SC/ST certificate from their home state. This is consistent with AP government's reservation policy, which applies AP-specific community designations.
| Category | Fee Amount | Fee Basis | Refund Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open Competition (UR) / EWS / BC | ₹800 | Per post applied | Non-refundable |
| SC — AP State SC only | ₹400 | Per post applied | Non-refundable |
| ST — AP State ST only | ₹400 | Per post applied | Non-refundable |
| Persons with Disabilities (PH) | ₹400 | Per post applied | Non-refundable |
- Per post fee: Separate fee payment required for each post applied — applying for 3 posts means paying 3 times
- AP domicile SC/ST only: SC/ST candidates from other states pay full ₹800 — their home state certificates do not entitle them to the AP concessional fee
- Non-refundable: Fee not refunded even if application is rejected, if you become ineligible, or if the recruitment is cancelled
- Online payment only: Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, UPI — no cash, DD, or postal orders
The reservation framework for AP High Court 2026 follows Andhra Pradesh's standard multi-category reservation system. One provision that frequently trips up candidates is the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate validity for BC candidates. The NCL certificate must have been issued in 2025 or 2026 — an older certificate, even from 2024, will result in the candidate being considered only under Open Competition (OC), losing all reservation benefits. Given that this recruitment was notified in March 2026, BC candidates with 2024 or older NCL certificates must obtain a fresh one before applying.
The 33⅓% women reservation is applied as a horizontal (cross-cutting) reservation across all categories — not as a separate vertical category. This means that within the OC, BC, SC, ST, and EWS vertical categories, one-third of the posts in each category are reserved for women candidates. A woman candidate who qualifies in open merit may be counted against the women's quota in her category, but she will not lose a seat — she will be counted in a way that benefits overall women representation. The reservation is mandatory under G.O.Ms.No.77 dated 02.08.2023.
- 33⅓% Women Reservation: Mandatory horizontal reservation across all categories per G.O.Ms.No.77, dated 02.08.2023
- BC Categories: Five groups — BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, BC-E. Each has separate vacancy allocation. BC-E subject to Supreme Court Civil Appeal Nos. 2628–2637/2010
- BC NCL Certificate Validity: Must be issued in 2025 or 2026 — expired NCL certificates result in OC treatment
- EWS Certificate: Issued in 2025 or 2026 by Tahsildar — gross annual family income below ₹8,00,000 from all sources
- PwBD Certificate: Issued in 2025 or 2026 by Medical Board — four disability categories (A: Blindness/Low Vision, B: Deaf/Hard of Hearing, C: Locomotor/Cerebral Palsy, D: Autism/Intellectual Disability/Mental Illness)
- Waitlist: Maintained for one year from date of result notification — for cases where provisionally selected candidates do not join
Document preparation is where many AP High Court 2026 applications go wrong. The online portal requires scanned uploads of all relevant certificates at the time of application — not later. While documents are not individually verified at the application stage, any discrepancy discovered at the certificate verification stage leads to immediate disqualification, regardless of how well the candidate performed in the CBT or Skill Test. The High Court has explicitly stated that uploading forged documents makes candidates liable for criminal prosecution.
One document that requires advance planning is the NOC from current employer. If you are currently employed in any government, PSU, or private organization, you need a No Objection Certificate before applying. In government organizations, this can take weeks to process through the proper administrative channels. If you are a government employee considering this recruitment, initiate the NOC request the moment you read the notification — waiting until the last week of April may leave you without the document in time.
The online application for AP High Court 2026 opens on 30 March 2026 at aphc.gov.in. Before you open the portal, have everything ready: scanned documents in the prescribed format, your educational and personal details at hand, payment method ready (Net Banking/UPI/Card), and a clear understanding of which post code you are applying for. Rushing the application with incomplete preparation is the most common source of errors — and errors in this application cannot be corrected after submission.
A key point many candidates overlook: the application form requires you to select up to three exam centre preferences. The High Court reserves the right to allot any centre based on resource availability — your preferred centres are not guaranteed. No centre change requests are entertained after submission. This means if you have genuine travel constraints, choose your three preferences carefully and list them in strict priority order rather than selecting centres casually.

The online application portal opens at aphc.gov.in on 30 March 2026. Navigate to the Recruitment section and look for Notification No. 01/2026/Estt. The portal closes permanently on 19 April 2026 at 11:59 PM. No offline or postal applications are accepted under any circumstances — the online portal is the only mode.
Select Your Post Code (1–13)
Carefully select the correct Post Code for the post you are applying for. Read the eligibility criteria for that specific post code — especially educational qualification, typewriting/shorthand requirements, and experience requirements. Applying for the wrong post code or an ineligible post results in rejection at certificate verification with no fee refund.
Fill the Application Form Accurately
Enter all personal details exactly as they appear in your certificates — Full Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth (as in SSC), Community, Gender, Aadhaar, contact details. Particulars are treated as final after submission — no corrections entertained. Double-check every entry, especially your DOB, community, and post code before proceeding to document upload.
Upload All Required Documents
Scan and upload clear, legible copies of all required documents in the prescribed format and file size. Use a flatbed scanner or document scanning app — blurry, cut, or unreadable uploads may lead to rejection. Documents not uploaded at the application stage cannot be submitted later.
Pay Examination Fee Online
Pay ₹800 (UR/EWS/BC) or ₹400 (AP SC/ST/PH) via Net Banking, Card, or UPI. Save your payment receipt. If applying for multiple posts, pay separately for each. Fee is non-refundable under all circumstances — including if the notification is cancelled.
Select Centre Preferences & Submit
Indicate up to three test centre preferences in priority order. Centre allotment is at the High Court's discretion — no change requests after submission. After final submission, download and save a printed copy with your Application ID — required for all future correspondence, admit card download, and exam day.
Understanding the complete selection pipeline from application to appointment helps candidates plan their preparation timeline realistically. The CBT will likely be conducted a few months after the application closes — typically 2–3 months for a High Court-level recruitment of this scale. After CBT results, Skill Test dates will be announced for applicable posts. Between each stage, candidates must regularly check aphc.gov.in for updates, since the High Court communicates all information through its official website and does not send individual letters or SMS alerts at every stage.
The tie-breaking rule for equal scores deserves attention: when two candidates score identically, the elder candidate ranks higher. This is opposite to most competitive exams where younger candidates are preferred — in judicial administrative service, life experience and seniority are valued. Candidates who are older within the eligible age range have a built-in advantage in close-scoring scenarios, which may subtly influence preparation strategies for borderline candidates.
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
All eligible applicants are called for the CBT: 80 questions, 80 marks, 90 minutes. For Section Officer, Assistant, Examiner, Librarian, and Office Subordinate — CBT marks form the final merit. For Computer Operator, Typist, DEO, and Stenographers — CBT is screening only. Admit cards and exam schedule will be published on aphc.gov.in after the application window closes.
Stage 2: Skill Test (for specified posts)
Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in CBT are shortlisted for the Skill Test. The Skill Test evaluates typewriting speed, shorthand speed, data entry accuracy, or IT/networking skills as relevant to the post. Final selection for these posts is based entirely on Skill Test performance — CBT marks carry zero weight in the final merit for these posts.
Stage 3: Merit List Preparation
Merit lists are prepared category-wise and post-wise. Tie-breaking rule: Equal scores → elder candidate ranks higher → if equal age, higher educational qualification ranks higher → if equal qualification, higher marks in the prescribed qualification ranks higher. Score normalisation applied for multi-shift exams.
Stage 4: Certificate Verification
Selected candidates are called for original certificate verification at the date specified by the High Court. All uploaded documents must be produced in original along with attested photocopies. Any discrepancy — or forged documents — results in immediate cancellation and criminal liability. Documents are treated as genuine only after final verification at appointment stage.
Stage 5: Appointment & Probation
Candidates cleared at all stages receive provisional appointment. Appointees must be of sound health, free from bodily defects, citizens of India with good character. Appointments are under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Persons in bigamous marriages or dismissed from any government service are ineligible regardless of selection.

Track 1 — CBT = Final Merit:
Section Officer, Assistant Librarian, Librarian Grade-II, Assistant, Examiner, Office Subordinate
→ Highest CBT scorer among eligible candidates gets selected. Prepare intensively for GK and Law/Mental Ability as the final deciding factor.
Track 2 — CBT = Screening Only:
Senior System Officer, Computer Operator, UD Stenographer, Stenographer, Typist, Copyist, DEO
→ CBT only filters out candidates below minimum qualifying marks. Final selection based entirely on Skill Test. A candidate scoring minimally in CBT but performing excellently in Skill Test can still be selected.
The notification states: candidates who have a qualification higher than Intermediate (12th) "shall not be considered." Only candidates whose highest qualification is up to the Intermediate level or below are eligible. This specifically includes:
✓ Candidates who passed 7th class (minimum qualification)

✗ Candidates who passed Intermediate (12th) — NOT eligible
✗ Graduates, diploma holders, or any higher qualification — NOT eligible
This restriction is intentional — the post is designed for candidates without higher educational opportunities.
