Educational Qualification — Mining Engineering Degree
- Degree in Mining Engineering from a University / Institute recognised by appropriate statutory authority in India
- Must be a regular full-time course — distance learning, correspondence, or part-time Mining Engineering degrees are NOT considered
- Minimum marks requirement:
- General (UR) / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS candidates: Minimum 60% aggregate marks
- SC / ST candidates: Minimum 55% aggregate marks (5% relaxation from the 60% minimum)
- Candidates who have passed their final semester examination on or before the cut-off date (closing date: 07 June 2026) are eligible — result awaiting candidates who have appeared are also eligible provisionally, subject to meeting marks criterion later
- Where marks are in CGPA/GPA/CPI format: Conversion to percentage certificate issued by the University/Institute must be attached without fail. Self-calculation of CGPA to percentage is NOT accepted
- In case of dispute about any qualification's admissibility, the decision of the Chairman, Coal India Limited is final

⚠️ Service Agreement Bond — ₹3 Lakhs + GST | 60-Month Minimum Service
Every selected candidate must execute a service agreement bond of ₹3 Lakhs (Rupees Three Lakhs) plus applicable GST at the time of joining Coal India Limited. The bond mandates a minimum service period of 60 months (5 years) from the date of joining. A deduction of ₹5,000 per month will be made from the candidate's salary towards this bond amount. This ₹5,000/month deduction is made until the bond amount (excluding GST) is recovered, and the accumulated amount is refunded without interest after the successful completion of 60 months of continuous service. Selection Process — GATE Shortlisting + DV + IME

Stage 1 — Shortlisting Based on GATE-2025 Score (1:3 Ratio)
- Only candidates who have qualified GATE-2025 with the MN (Mining Engineering) paper are considered
- Candidates are shortlisted category-wise in the ratio of 1:3 (3 candidates called per vacancy) in order of merit of their GATE-2025 scores

- Step 2: Document Verification (DV) for shortlisted candidates
- Step 3: Initial Medical Examination (IME) by CIL Medical Committee
- Step 4: Offer of Appointment (only after successful DV + IME)

Candidates may be posted anywhere in India at any of CIL's 8 subsidiaries and their coalfield areas: ECL (West Bengal), BCCL (Dhanbad, Jharkhand), CCL (Ranchi, Jharkhand), NCL (Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh), WCL (Nagpur, Maharashtra), SECL (Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh), MCL (Sambalpur, Odisha), NEC (Margherita, Assam).
