Candidates seeking height/chest relaxation (Garhwali, Gorkha etc.) must carry the relevant community certificate from District Authority. Non-production of certificate means no relaxation will be given.
07

Selection Process

I

Stage I — Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Male candidates: 4.8 km race to be completed in 24 minutes. Female candidates: 2.4 km race to be completed in 18 minutes. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must appear in PST, Written Examination, Skill Test and Medical. Candidates who do not complete the race within the stipulated time are eliminated.

II

Stage II — Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates who qualify PET undergo height and chest measurement as per the post-wise and category-wise standards given above. Ex-Servicemen who do not meet the minimum height/chest requirement will also be rejected. Candidates have the right to prefer an appeal against the PST Board’s decision on the same day to the appellate authority — appellate authority’s decision is final.

III

Stage III — Written Examination (Computer Based Test / CBT)

Candidates qualifying PST appear for CBT: 100 marks, 100 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours duration. Subjects: General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English and General Hindi. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for UR/EWS/OBC/Ex-Servicemen and 45% for SC/ST. Final merit is based on written exam marks only.

IV

Stage IV — Documentation + Skill/Trade Test + Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

Candidates called for documentation are up to 20 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) based on written exam merit. Skill/Trade Test carries 50 marks — minimum qualifying: 60% for all candidates (including SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM). Trade test is qualifying in nature and marks are NOT included in final merit. After skill test, candidates up to 3 times of vacancies are called for DME/RME. Being declared “Fit” in DME does not confer any right to appointment. Appointment is strictly based on written exam merit only.

📌 Tie-breaking principle: Equal marks in written exam → older candidate ranked higher. Equal date of birth → alphabetical order of names in English (A first, B second etc.). No reserve merit panel — unfilled vacancies carry forward to next recruitment.
