Total Marks (Prelims)400 marks (Paper I: 200 + Paper II: 200)
Negative MarkingNo negative marking — attempt all questions confidently
Medium of ExamPapers set in both Hindi and English
OMR SheetUse Blue or Black ball-point pen only — fill circles carefully, errors cannot be corrected
Prelims in Final Merit?NO — Prelims marks are NOT counted in final merit. Prelims is a qualifying/screening stage only. Only Mains + Interview marks form the final merit.
Biometric/IRIS VerificationBiometric and IRIS scanning will be done at the exam centre — arrive early
OMR instructionsRead Admit Card and OMR Sheet instructions carefully before filling circles. Wrong filling can lead to cancellation of candidature — candidates are solely responsible.
City Slip (from 8 April) shows the district/headquarters. The exact venue with full address is on the Admit Card (from 14 April 5 PM). These are two separate documents — both must be downloaded.
⚡ Key Prelims Strategy — No Negative Marking = Attempt All
  • Since there is no negative marking, attempt every single question — never leave any MCQ blank. Even a guess gives you a chance of 1 correct mark; blank gives zero.
  • Paper II (Jharkhand GK) is the differentiator: Most national-level competitive exam aspirants neglect Jharkhand-specific content. This is where state-based candidates have a natural edge. Deep preparation of Jharkhand history, geography, culture, language, and economy is essential to outrank others.
  • Biometric + IRIS at exam centres: Arrive by the specified report time (8:00 AM for shift 1, 1:00 PM for shift 2). Allow extra time for queuing at biometric stations — entry gates close before shift start time.

🎯 Last-Minute Preparation Tips — 19 April Prelims
  • Don't start new topics now: With the exam on 19 April, focus on revision of what you already know rather than learning new topics
  • Jharkhand Paper II is the key: The highest differentiator is Paper II — a few hours of focused revision on Jharkhand tribal history, geography, mineral resources, and current affairs of the last 6 months can significantly boost your score
  • Practice previous year papers: Solve the last 3–5 years of JPSC Prelims papers to get familiar with question style and recurring topics
  • No negative marking = attempt everything: Go through all MCQs; prioritise your known answers first, then attempt doubtful ones — never skip any question
  • Sleep well the night before: A well-rested brain performs better than frantic all-night revision the day before the exam
12
Scribe (Shrutlekha) Facility for PwBD Candidates
Request scribe 3 days before exam at your exam centre with medical certificate
♿ PwBD Candidates — Scribe Request Procedure
  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities who require a scribe (Shrutlekha / लेखक) must visit their exam centre 3 days before the exam date (i.e., by 16 April 2026)
  • Carry the required medical certificate (Vishesh Chikitsa Praman Patra — Special Medical Certificate) along when requesting the scribe
  • Submit a written application (Prarthana Patra — prayer letter) to the Centre Superintendent — who will then make the necessary arrangements for scribe provision
  • Do NOT wait until exam day to request a scribe — advance notice is mandatory
  • Scribe arrangements are at the discretion of the Centre Superintendent based on the supporting medical documentation

Frequently Asked Questions
Complete Q&A for JPSC Civil Services Prelims Admit Card & Exam 2026
Where to download JPSC Civil Services Admit Card 2026?+
The JPSC Civil Services Prelims Admit Card 2026 is available at jpscotr.com — the official JPSC One-Time Registration portal. Also accessible through the OTR link on the official JPSC website jpsc.gov.in. Admit card is available from 14 April 2026 (5:00 PM). Login using your Email ID / Mobile Number / OTR Number and Password. Download and print the Admit Card, Attendance Sheet, and Exam Instructions together.
Is the City Intimation Slip the same as the Admit Card?+
No — they are two separate documents. The City Intimation Slip (available from 8 April 2026) only shows the district headquarters where your exam centre will be located — it does not have the exact venue address or other details. The Admit Card (available from 14 April 2026 at 5 PM) is the actual hall ticket with your complete exam centre details, roll number, instructions, and photograph. You need the Admit Card — not the City Slip — to enter the exam hall.
Is there negative marking in JPSC Prelims 2026?+
No negative marking in the Prelims. Both Paper I and Paper II are objective-type MCQ papers with no penalty for wrong answers. This means you should attempt every single question — leaving questions blank only reduces your chances. Mark your best guess for questions you are unsure about.
Will Prelims marks be counted in the final JPSC merit list?+
No. Prelims marks are NOT counted in the final merit list. The Preliminary Examination is purely a screening/qualifying round. Only the Mains Examination (Papers II–VI — 950 marks) and Interview (100 marks) — total 1,050 marks — determine the final merit ranking. Prelims is cleared by many candidates, but rank is decided in Mains.
What is the JPSC Civil Services exam date 2026?+
The JPSC Combined Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2025 (Advt. 01/2026) is scheduled for 19 April 2026 (Sunday) in two shifts across various district headquarters in Jharkhand. Shift 1 (General Studies Paper I): 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM — report by 8:00 AM. Shift 2 (General Studies Paper II): 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM — report by 1:00 PM. Both papers on the same day.
What is the selection process for JPSC Civil Services?+
Three-stage selection: Stage 1 — Prelims (400 marks, objective, qualifying only — marks not counted). Stage 2 — Main Written Exam (6 papers, descriptive; Paper I qualifying with 30 marks minimum; Papers II–VI scored, 950 marks). Stage 3 — Interview/Personality Test (100 marks). Final merit = Mains (950) + Interview (100) = 1,050 marks. No negative marking in Prelims. No limit on attempts.
What is the salary for JPSC Deputy Collector or DSP?+
For Deputy Collector, DSP, District Commandant, and similar posts: Pay Band PB-2 (₹9,300–34,800) with Grade Pay ₹5,400 — equivalent to approximately ₹56,100 per month at entry level under 7th CPC (Level 10). Additional allowances (DA at 40–50%+ of basic, HRA, TA, medical benefits) can bring the total monthly emoluments to ₹80,000–₹1,00,000+ depending on posting location. These are Gazetted officer posts with excellent career growth.
Is there a limit on attempts for JPSC Civil Services?+
No — there is absolutely no limit on the number of attempts for the JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination. Candidates can apply and appear as many times as they wish, as long as they meet the age limit (21–35 years for General, with category-wise relaxations) and possess the educational qualification (graduation). This is a major advantage compared to UPSC and several other state PSC exams.
My admit card is not downloading. What should I do?+
If you face difficulty downloading the admit card: (1) Try a different browser (Chrome recommended) or clear browser cache. (2) Try again during off-peak hours (early morning or late night) to avoid server congestion. (3) Verify your login credentials — use Email ID or Mobile Number instead of OTR number if you've forgotten it. (4) If still unable to download, call the JPSC Helpline: 8929883832 between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM on working days — helpline is available till 18 April 2026 (day before exam).
