⚠️ Mains Spans 4 Days — Plan All Four: The PCS Mains is not a single-day exam. Candidates must arrange accommodation in Prayagraj or Lucknow for all four days (29 March to 1 April 2026). Missing even one paper disqualifies from the entire Mains stage. Book accommodation immediately — Prayagraj exam season causes extreme hotel shortage close to the exam dates.

How to Download UPPSC PCS Mains Admit Card 2026 — Step-by-Step

The UPPSC PCS Mains Admit Card 2026 is available exclusively on the official UPPSC website. Login uses the OTR (One Time Registration) Number — the unique permanent ID generated when you first registered on the UPPSC portal. No separate password is required. Follow these steps:

🔗 Direct Admit Card Download Link
https://uppsc.up.nic.in/CandidatePages/AdmitCard/AdmitCard_New.aspx
Also accessible via: uppsc.up.nic.in → Homepage → Admit Card section → "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD ADMIT CARD FOR ADVT. NO. A-1/E-1/2025, COMBINED STATE / UPPER SUBORDINATE SERVICES (MAINS) EXAM.-2025." | The UPPSC official homepage confirms this link is active (visible upto 01/04/2026).
1

Open uppsc.up.nic.in in a Supported Browser

Navigate to the official UPPSC website at uppsc.up.nic.in using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge (Chromium). On the homepage, locate the Admit Card section under the scrolling notice bar or the Important Links section. Click on the link for "ADVT. NO. A-1/E-1/2025 — COMBINED STATE / UPPER SUBORDINATE SERVICES (MAINS) EXAM.-2025" admit card. You can also directly open the link provided above.

2

Enter Your OTR Number, Date of Birth, and Gender

On the admit card download page, enter: (1) OTR Number — your One Time Registration number (unique permanent ID on UPPSC portal, e.g., 12-digit numeric code); (2) Date of Birth in DD/MM/YYYY format exactly as declared in your application; (3) Gender — Male / Female / Third Gender (as selected during registration). Enter the Verification Code (CAPTCHA) shown on screen. Click Submit / Download Admit Card.

3

Retrieve Your OTR Number if Forgotten

If you have forgotten your OTR Number, visit uppsc.up.nic.in → One Time Registration (OTR) → Login to Candidate Dashboard. The OTR Number is retrievable using your registered mobile number or email address. Alternatively, check your original email confirmation received after OTR registration. Do not attempt to create a new OTR — your OTR Number is a permanent ID linked to all your UPPSC applications; a duplicate will cause application duplication issues.

4

Download and Open the Admit Card PDF

After successful login, your personalised admit card PDF opens in the browser or downloads automatically. The hall ticket contains your name, roll number, registration number, exam date for each paper, shift timing, exam centre name and full address, and examination instructions. If the PDF does not load, ensure Adobe Reader or a PDF viewer is installed, try Incognito mode, or try a different browser. The UPPSC portal sees heavy traffic close to exam dates — access during early morning or late night for faster response.

5

Verify All Details Carefully Before Printing

Cross-check: full name spelling (must match graduation certificate) · roll number and registration number · exam centre name and full address · exam dates (must show all 4 days: 29 Mar, 30 Mar, 31 Mar, 1 Apr) · shift timings · photograph clarity. If any detail is incorrect, contact UPPSC Prayagraj helpdesk immediately — at least 72 hours before the first exam day (29 March 2026).

6

Print Multiple Copies — Plan for All 4 Days

Print the admit card in colour (or clear black-and-white with visible photo) on A4 paper. Print at least 4–5 copies — one for each exam day (the centre may collect a copy on each day or require a fresh photocopy daily). Keep digital backup saved on your phone and cloud storage separately. Visit your exam centre on 28 March (the day before the first exam) to identify the exact building, gate, and room allocation board.

💡 Forgot OTR Number? Login at uppsc.up.nic.in → OTR/Candidate Dashboard → Forgot OTR Number → Enter registered mobile/email → OTR is retrieved. UPPSC Helpline: 0532-2408401 / 0532-2408406. Email: online[dot]uppsc[at]nic[dot]in. Resolve this at least 5 days before 29 March 2026.
05
Mains Exam Pattern — UPPSC PCS 2025 (Revised — 8 Compulsory Papers)

UPPSC revised the PCS Mains pattern significantly for the 2025 cycle — optional subjects have been completely removed. The exam now has 8 compulsory papers only, including 2 dedicated UP-specific General Studies papers (Papers V and VI). This change aligns UP PCS more closely with the UPSC Mains pattern while ensuring greater focus on state-specific knowledge.

🔑 Key Changes in 2025 Mains Pattern vs Earlier Years
  • Optional subjects eliminated entirely — Previously candidates chose 2 optional subjects (400 marks). Now all 8 papers are compulsory with no choice.
  • Two new UP-specific papers added (Papers VII and VIII — 200 marks each) — These test deep knowledge of UP history, culture, economy, governance, agriculture, and current affairs specific to Uttar Pradesh.
  • Total marks reduced from the old pattern but competition is now purely on the compulsory papers — meaning preparation must cover all areas without strategic omission.
  • The pattern now rewards candidates who have strong answer writing ability, UP-specific awareness, and ethical reasoning (Paper VI — Ethics) rather than deep-dive optional subject specialists.
06
Prelims Exam Pattern — Reference (Completed 12 October 2025)

The Preliminary Examination was conducted on 12 October 2025 and served exclusively as a screening stage. Prelims marks are NOT counted in the final merit list. The shortlisting ratio for Mains was based solely on Paper I (General Studies I) merit, as Paper II (CSAT) was qualifying-only.

PaperSubjectTypeQuestionsMarksDuration
Paper I (Merit)General Studies I — History, Polity, Economy, Geography, Environment, Science & Technology, Current Affairs, UP-specific GKMCQ Objective1502002 hrs
Paper II (Qualifying)General Studies II (CSAT) — Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Basic Communication, Decision MakingMCQ Objective1002002 hrs
CSAT was Qualifying-Only: Paper II (CSAT) required minimum 33% (66/200). Candidates who failed CSAT were not considered for Mains shortlisting regardless of Paper I marks. Prelims was conducted on 12 October 2025 with Shift 1 at 9:30–11:30 AM and Shift 2 at 2:30–4:30 PM. Negative marking: −1/3 per wrong answer in both papers. Prelims marks carry zero weight in the final PCS selection.

08
Exam Day Checklist — 4-Day UPPSC PCS Mains 2026 (What to Carry Each Day)
✅ Must-Carry Items — Every Single Day (29 Mar to 1 Apr)
  • Printed Admit Card — Carry on all 4 days. The exam centre may collect one copy on Day 1 or require showing it daily — bring multiple printouts. A fresh clearly-printed copy each day is safest.
  • Original Valid Photo ID — Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN Card, or Passport. Original only — photocopy not accepted. Carry the same ID daily as checking is done on each exam day.
  • Two Recent Passport-Size Photographs — Same as application photo. Required for attendance sheets or any invigilator verification.
  • Blue or Black Ink Pen / Fountain Pen — Minimum 2–3 pens per day. The Mains is a long descriptive exam — pens run out during 3-hour answer-writing sessions. No pencil for answer writing (only for diagrams if asked).
  • Pencil, Eraser, and Scale — For any diagrams, maps, or charts that may be required in GS papers.
🚫 Strictly Prohibited — All 4 Days
  • Mobile phones, tablets, earphones, smartwatches — confiscated immediately, possible disqualification from entire Mains
  • Calculators, electronic devices of any kind — no computational devices permitted in any paper
  • Books, notes, printed material, rough sheets — answer booklets and supplementary sheets provided at the centre; nothing external
  • Bags, wallets, large jewellery — no storage facility at UPPSC exam venues; leave valuables at accommodation
  • Food or beverages — not permitted inside the exam hall (water bottle rules per centre instructions on admit card)
🚨 4-Day Exam — Special Planning Required: Unlike a 1-day exam, the UPPSC PCS Mains runs for 4 consecutive days in only Prayagraj or Lucknow. Candidates from other districts must arrange: (1) Accommodation for 5 nights (check-in 28 March, check-out 2 April); (2) Daily commute from accommodation to exam centre — ideally within 30 minutes; (3) Meals that do not cause health issues mid-exam week. Missing Day 3 or Day 4 due to logistics failures disqualifies from the entire Mains. Plan all of this NOW.

Two major changes for 2025: (1) Optional subjects completely eliminated — previously candidates chose 2 optional subjects from a list (worth 400 marks). Now all 8 papers are compulsory with no choice.
