Stage 1 — Written Examination (21 June 2026)
An objective-type written examination is conducted on 21 June 2026. Based on previous UKSSSC Driver recruitment patterns, the written exam carries approximately 25 marks and tests General Knowledge, General Hindi, Elementary Mathematics, and Uttarakhand-specific knowledge. Candidates are shortlisted for the driving test based on written exam performance. Verify exact marks and pattern from the official notification.
Stage 2 — Skill Test / Driving Test
Candidates shortlisted from the written exam — typically 6 times the vacancies — are called for the Driving Skill Test (Kaushal Pariksha). The driving test carries significantly higher marks (approximately 75 marks based on past patterns), making it the decisive stage. The test evaluates practical driving ability, vehicle handling, road sense, and adherence to traffic rules. Exact format to be confirmed from official notification.
Stage 3 — Document Verification (DV)
Candidates in the final provisional merit list are called for Document Verification. All original documents — Class 8 certificate, Driving Licence (showing date of issue — must be 3+ years old), domicile certificate, caste/EWS certificate (if applicable), and other required documents — are verified. Any discrepancy or ineligibility found at this stage leads to permanent cancellation.
Stage 4 — Medical Examination
Selected candidates undergo a Medical Examination at a designated government medical facility. For driver posts, visual acuity and physical fitness are important medical criteria. Candidates must be free from any physical/medical condition that would affect their ability to drive safely. Final appointment is subject to clearing the medical examination.
Final merit is typically computed as: Written Exam marks + Driving Test marks. Based on UKSSSC Driver 2024 pattern, written exam = 25 marks and driving test = 75 marks (total 100 marks). Since the driving test carries 3× the weight of the written exam, candidates should invest most of their preparation time in practical driving proficiency. Always verify exact marking scheme from the official notification PDF.

- Uttarakhand GK is critical: Dedicate 30% of your GK preparation specifically to Uttarakhand — rivers, dams, national parks, culture, history, districts, and state government schemes. This is almost always the most-tested topic in Uttarakhand state exams.
- Traffic Rules & Motor Vehicles Act: Study the Motor Vehicles Act thoroughly — road signs, traffic violations, DL types, and penalty provisions are commonly asked and easy to score if well-prepared.
- Hindi Vyakaran: Focus on Sandhi-Samaas, Muhavare, Paryayvachi-Vilom — these are consistently tested. Practice OMR-based question sets.
- Maths: Percentage, SI, Profit-Loss, and Time-Work are most frequently asked. Master the formulas and practice 20–30 questions daily.
- Negative marking (0.25): Avoid guessing — skip questions where you are less than 60% confident. Target a score of 65+ out of 100 in the written exam for safe shortlisting.
- Driving Test preparation: Since the driving test carries ~75% of the final marks, practice vehicle handling, smooth gear changes, parking, and hill driving (especially relevant for Uttarakhand terrain) regularly.
