Online Application & Shortlisting
All candidates who apply online from 22 April to 06 May 2026 receive call letters/admit cards via email based on their declarations in the application form. Admit cards can also be downloaded from the NMDC Careers page. NMDC reserves the right to fix criteria for shortlisting candidates for SSA (e.g., based on qualification percentage) if the number of applications exceeds the capacity for assessment. Issue of call letter does not confirm eligibility — eligibility is verified at the next stage.
Document Verification
Candidates appearing for the SSA must carry original documents and self-attested photocopies for verification. Required documents: Date of Birth proof (Matriculation/10th certificate — only acceptable DoB proof), Diploma in Mining Engineering certificate + mark sheet, Caste/Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), Ex-SM equivalence certificate (if applicable), and any other specified documents. Candidates whose documents are not in order will NOT be permitted for SSA, and no Travelling Allowance will be reimbursed to them.
Supervisory Skill Assessment (SSA)
The Supervisory Skill Assessment is conducted by a duly constituted committee of NMDC. It evaluates the technical knowledge, supervisory capability, and suitability of candidates for the Junior Engineer (Mining) role in NMDC's mining operations. Merit list is prepared based on performance in SSA. Final selection is made in order of merit within each category. NMDC has not specified the exact nature/format of SSA (written test, interview, or practical assessment) — check the admit card for SSA details.
Medical Fitness Test & Final Engagement
Candidates provisionally selected in the SSA merit list are required to appear for a medical fitness test at NMDC's authorised hospital/centre. They must be medically fit for the specific NMDC mine/project area where they will be posted. Only medically fit candidates are issued engagement letters. The provisional selected candidates list is published on nmdc.co.in → Careers page. Selected candidates undergo 1 month On-the-Job Training (OJT) before being formally deployed.
Outstation candidates who attend the Supervisory Skill Assessment are eligible for reimbursement of Second AC (2-Tier) Railway fare or Bus fare by the nearest route. To claim: submit the duly filled Travelling Allowance form (Annexure-I, available on nmdc.co.in) along with original railway/bus tickets and bank account details (Account Number and IFSC Code) after attending SSA. Reimbursement is made via e-payment in due course. Candidates whose document verification fails will NOT receive TA reimbursement.
