Selection Process
Multi-stage CBT — Prelims (if req.) → Mains → Interview / Skill Test → Document Verification → Medical
📋 Negative Marking Applies in Both Stages

Both the Preliminary and Main Examinations carry 1/4 (25%) negative marking for each wrong answer. An unanswered question carries no penalty. Avoid guessing unless you can reasonably eliminate 2–3 options. The Preliminary Exam shortlists up to 15 times the number of vacancies for the Mains; the Mains shortlists up to 3 times for Interview and 5 times for Proficiency/Skill Test. Marks of the Preliminary Exam are not counted in final merit.

1

Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination (Conducted if Applications are High)

An objective-type Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 questions / 100 marks / 90 minutes. Topics: Numerical Ability / Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning / Mental Ability, Hindi Language, English Language, and Knowledge of Co-operatives. Qualifying nature only — marks not counted in final merit. Up to 15x the number of vacancies per post will be shortlisted for the Mains examination. UPCISB has the discretion to waive the Preliminary Exam if the number of applicants is manageable.

2

Stage 2 — Main Examination (Key Stage for Merit Ranking)

Objective-type CBT with 120 questions / 200 marks. Pattern varies by post category. Category-1 & 2 Mains cover: Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, Knowledge of Co-operatives, Language (Hindi & English), and Technical / Managerial Skills. Category-3 Mains cover: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Computer Knowledge, Language (Hindi & English), General Awareness, and Knowledge of Co-operatives. Final merit ranking is based on Mains marks only. Up to 3x vacancies shortlisted for Interview; up to 5x for Proficiency Test (where applicable).

3

Stage 3 — Interview (Category 1 & 2) / Proficiency / Skill Test (Category 3)

Category-1 (Manager) and Category-2 (Junior Manager, Assistant Manager, AE) candidates qualifying the Mains are called for a Personal Interview. Category-3 posts like Typist, Stenographer, and Clerk/Typist require a Typing / Shorthand Proficiency Test instead of an interview. No interview is conducted for general Category-3 (Assistant/Cashier) posts — selection is purely Mains merit-based for these roles.

4

Stage 4 — Document Verification

Finally selected candidates are called for original document verification. Required documents: Class 10 certificate (DOB proof), all academic marksheets, degree certificates, computer certificate (CCC/O-Level from NIELIT), caste/disability/EWS certificate (UP format, FY 2025-26 valid), Aadhaar, PAN, domicile/residence certificate of UP, and any other document specified in the call letter. Discrepancies lead to immediate disqualification.

5

Stage 5 — Medical Examination & Appointment

Candidates cleared at document verification undergo a medical fitness examination at a designated government hospital. Medically fit candidates receive appointment orders and are posted to their respective District Co-operative Bank, UP Co-operative Bank, or Co-operative Federation across Uttar Pradesh. All posts are state-level transferable and candidates must be willing to serve at any location assigned.

Frequently Asked Questions
Complete Q&A — UPCISB UP Co-Operative Bank Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for UPCISB Recruitment 2026?+
The last date to submit the online application and pay the examination fee is 15 May 2026. The application window opens on 25 April 2026. Apply at ibpsreg.ibps.in/upcisbfeb26/. It is strongly advised to apply at least 7–10 days before the closing date to avoid portal congestion and last-minute technical issues.
Can a fresh graduate apply for UPCISB 2026 without experience?+
Yes. Most Category-2 and Category-3 posts like Junior Manager, Assistant/Cashier, Typist, and Junior Assistant do not require prior work experience. The essential requirement is a graduation degree with a minimum of 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwD of UP) and the prescribed NIELIT computer certificate. The Managerial post of Assistant Manager at some Federations may prefer 3 years of experience but it is not strictly mandatory in most cases.
Is the application fee the same for both Prelims and Mains?+
Yes — and this is an important point. If the recruitment is conducted in two phases (Preliminary + Main), the examination fee must be paid separately for each phase. A General / OBC / EWS candidate who clears the Preliminary exam must pay another ₹500 before the Main Exam. SC/ST candidates of UP must pay ₹250 again for the Mains. PwD candidates of UP remain exempt. Plan your budget accordingly.
Is UPCISB recruitment open to candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh?+
Yes, it is open to all Indian citizens. However, reserved category benefits — including reduced fee (₹250 for SC/ST), age relaxation (up to 45 years for SC/ST/OBC), and PwD fee exemption — are available only to UP-domicile candidates. Candidates from outside UP belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories are treated as Unreserved (General) for all purposes, including fee payment (₹500) and age limit (maximum 40 years).
What computer certificate is required for UPCISB 2026?+
Most Category-3 banking posts require a minimum CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) Certificate from NIELIT (formerly DOEACC) or an equivalent recognised body. Category-2 posts like Manager and Junior Manager require a minimum O-Level Diploma from NIELIT or equivalent. Technical posts (JE/AE) do not separately require a computer certificate. Certificates from unrecognised institutes or private computer centres are not accepted.
Can I apply for more than one post in UPCISB 2026?+
No. Candidates can apply for only one post under this recruitment notification. Multiple applications will be rejected. Choose your post carefully based on your qualification (graduation stream, percentage), computer certificate level, and career interest. Once submitted, the application cannot be changed or withdrawn, so read the eligibility carefully before selecting the post.
What is the age limit for UPCISB 2026 and how is it calculated?+
Age is calculated as on 1 January 2026. General candidates must be between 21 and 40 years on this date — meaning born between 2 January 1986 and 1 January 2005 (both inclusive). SC/ST/OBC of UP can be up to 45 years; PwD of UP up to 55 years; Ex-Servicemen get relaxation equal to military service period plus 3 years. UP government employees and school employees also get 5 years relaxation.
Is there any interview for the Assistant / Cashier post?+
No. For general Category-3 posts like Assistant/Cashier, selection is based entirely on Main Examination merit. There is no interview stage for these posts. However, Category-3 posts requiring a specific skill — like Typist (typing proficiency) and Stenographer (shorthand test) — have a separate Proficiency / Skill Test in place of an interview. Final selection for all Category-3 posts is merit-based without any interview component.
What is the posting location after selection?+
Selected candidates are posted across District Co-operative Banks, U.P. Co-operative Bank Ltd., and Co-operative Federations throughout Uttar Pradesh. All posts are transferable across UP at the discretion of the respective institution. The cooperative sector in UP is an advantage for UP-domicile candidates as district-based postings generally allow them to remain closer to their home districts — unlike central government posts requiring all-India transfers.
What is the syllabus for the UPCISB 2026 exam?+
The Preliminary Exam (if conducted) covers: Numerical Ability, Reasoning/Mental Ability, Hindi Language, English Language, and Knowledge of Co-operatives — 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes. The Main Exam for Category-1 & 2 adds: General Awareness, Technical/Managerial Knowledge, and higher-difficulty aptitude. Category-3 Mains replaces managerial content with Computer Knowledge basics. Detailed syllabus is in Appendix-3 of the official notification — download it from upcisb.upsdc.gov.in.
