Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) is India's largest government manufacturer of aids and appliances for persons with disabilities. A Miniratna CPSE headquartered at G.T. Road, Kanpur, ALIMCO operates under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), which is part of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. The corporation manufactures prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, hearing aids, wheelchairs, tricycles, and other assistive technology. Through its nationwide outreach network of ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons) camps, ALIMCO distributes free aids & appliances to economically weaker PwD beneficiaries in collaboration with state governments and NGOs.
🤖 Mission AI for Disability Empowerment — 3 Specialised New Roles
ALIMCO is launching a pioneering national initiative called Mission AI for Disability Empowerment — aimed at developing and deploying artificial intelligence-powered assistive technologies and inclusive digital ecosystems for persons with disabilities. This mission involves building AI-powered screen readers, real-time transcription tools, smart gesture/speech interfaces, WCAG-compliant accessible government websites, and Indian AI-driven assistive devices. 🚫 Critical Contractual Conditions — Read Before Applying
- This is NOT a permanent job: Despite being a CPSE, these positions carry no guarantee of regularisation. Many candidates overlook this and apply expecting absorption — contractual FTE employees have zero right to permanent appointment.
- No DA, CGHS, transport, medical reimbursement: The consolidated monthly figure is the total compensation. Government employees enjoy these perks additionally — ALIMCO FTE contracts do not.
- Only 12 days leave: Far lower than regular government employees. Plan accordingly — excess absence directly cuts salary and risks termination.
- Short termination notice (15 days by ALIMCO): ALIMCO can end your contract with just 15 days notice. This is a relatively short notice period — factor this into career planning.
