BPCL's selection methodology adapts to the volume of applications received. The process may include any or all of the following: Application Screening (based on work experience years and qualification), Written / Computer Based Test (CBT), Case Based Discussion, Group Task, and Personal Interview. Not all stages are guaranteed — BPCL retains discretion to adopt any combination. Shortlisting at any stage does not confer the right to be interviewed or selected.
Stage 1 — Application Screening
All submitted applications are screened based on declared information — work experience duration and nature, educational qualification, percentage of marks, and age. Candidates not meeting minimum eligibility criteria are rejected at this stage. Shortlisting is provisional — document verification happens later. Candidates are informed of shortlisting via registered email only.
Stage 2 — Written / Computer Based Test (CBT) — If Required
If the number of qualified applicants is large, BPCL may conduct an objective-type Computer Based Test (CBT) to further shortlist candidates. The test is likely to assess technical/domain knowledge, aptitude, and language skills. Shortlisted SC/ST/PwBD outstation candidates will receive 3rd AC train fare reimbursement for attending the CBT. Admit card details will be communicated via email.
Stage 3 — Case Based Discussion / Group Task
Candidates shortlisted after CBT (or directly after screening, if CBT is not held) may be called for a Case Based Discussion or Group Task. This assesses problem-solving ability, communication, teamwork, and domain understanding in a business or technical context relevant to the role applied for.
Stage 4 — Personal Interview
The final shortlisted candidates appear for a Personal Interview before a BPCL selection panel. This stage evaluates role-specific knowledge, professional achievements, attitude, and suitability for BPCL's work culture. Govt./PSU candidates must carry their NOC from current employer. EWS candidates must produce the Income & Asset Certificate at this stage. All outstation candidates receive 2nd AC train fare reimbursement (min. 30 km distance).
Stage 5 — Document Verification
Candidates provisionally selected after the interview are called for original document verification. All academic certificates, work experience letters (on official letterhead, signed and stamped), salary slips, caste/disability/EWS certificates, and identity proofs are checked. Mismatch in any detail leads to immediate disqualification at any stage — even post-joining.
Stage 6 — Pre-Employment Medical Examination & Joining
Candidates cleared at document verification undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination at BPCL's authorised doctor or nominated hospitals. The decision of the company doctor is final and binding. Medically fit candidates receive appointment letters and are posted anywhere across India as per BPCL's operational requirements. Selected candidates go on 1-year probation from the date of joining.
Participation in any stage of BPCL's recruitment process — CBT, interview, or medical examination — does not confer any right to employment. BPCL reserves the right to cancel, restrict, enlarge, or modify the recruitment process at any time without notice. The final provisional selection is based on multiple parameters including work experience quality, achievements, and performance across selection stages.

The Work Experience Certificate is the single most important document in this recruitment. It must be on the organisation's official letterhead, signed and stamped by an authorised representative. It must clearly mention your designation, dates of service, nature of work, and current CTC. Certificates that lack any of these details give BPCL the right to take a final decision on the basis of information furnished in the application alone — potentially leading to disqualification. For Secretary post applicants, a comprehensive experience summary on employer letterhead is specifically required if selected.
Read the Official Notification Thoroughly
Download the full advertisement from bharatpetroleum.in (Careers page) and read every section before applying. Verify your eligibility for the specific profile — age, qualification percentage, years of experience, nature of work experience, and whether your industry sector qualifies. BPCL does not entertain enquiries about eligibility — candidates must self-assess before applying.
Prepare All Scanned Documents in Advance
Before opening the application form, prepare and keep ready: scanned copies of all academic certificates and marksheets, work experience letters from each organisation (on letterhead), three latest salary slips merged into one PDF, caste/EWS/disability certificate (if applicable), a recent passport-size photo (not older than April 2026), and a scanned copy of your natural signature. Do not start filling the form without these ready.
