⚠ Sectional Timing — Critical Rule

Unlike many other SSC exams, the SSC Selection Post CBT has fixed sectional timing of 15 minutes per section. You cannot borrow time from one section to another. This means you have exactly 15 minutes for each of the 4 sections. Time management within each section is crucial. Practice with sectional timers during your preparation — don't get stuck on one difficult question and lose time for easier ones.

🎯 SSC Selection Post Phase 14 — Smart Preparation Strategy
  • Sectional timing is the game-changer: With 15 minutes per section, you have just 36 seconds per question. Speed + accuracy simultaneously is the core skill. Practice sectional timed mock tests from Day 1.
  • GK is the equaliser: 25 questions of GK are the same difficulty regardless of post level. A strong GK score can compensate for relative weakness in Quant or Reasoning. Read one newspaper daily.
  • Negative marking discipline: –0.50 per wrong answer means 4 wrong answers = –2 marks = cost of 1 correct answer. Never guess blindly. Skip questions you are less than 60% sure about.
  • English at Grade 8–10 level: For 10th/12th posts, English questions are NCERT-level. Study basic grammar rules thoroughly. Vocabulary from any standard list of 500–1000 words covers most SSC Selection Post questions.
  • Previous year papers are your bible: SSC repeats question types heavily. Solve the last 5 years of SSC Selection Post papers — you will see recurring patterns in all 4 sections.
  • Shortlisting ratio is 1:15 or 1:30: If vacancies are ≤5, top 30 per vacancy are called for DV. If >5, top 15 per vacancy. With 3,003 vacancies, most posts will use 1:15 — about 45,000 candidates will be shortlisted across all posts. Strong CBT performance is essential.
08
Complete Selection Process
CBT (merit) → Skill Test (qualifying, where applicable) → Document Verification — No interview
1

Stage 1 — Computer-Based Test (CBT) — Merit Determining Stage

A single-stage Computer-Based Test with 100 objective MCQ questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes. Four sections of 25 questions each (GI Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension) with 15 minutes per section fixed timing. Negative marking of –0.50 marks per wrong answer. If conducted in multiple shifts, SSC will apply normalisation. Final merit is based 100% on CBT marks. No interview.

2

Stage 2 — Skill Test (Qualifying — for Certain Posts Only)

A Skill Test (Typing Test / Data Entry Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test) is conducted only for specific posts where it is prescribed in the essential qualification. The Skill Test is qualifying in nature — it adds no marks to the merit list. Failing the skill test disqualifies the candidate regardless of CBT score. Candidates applying for posts requiring typing/DEO skills must begin speed practice immediately. Check the official notification for which posts have a skill test.

3

Stage 3 — Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted from the CBT (in the ratio of 1:30 for ≤5 vacancies or 1:15 for >5 vacancies, subject to a minimum of 150 candidates) are called for Document Verification. Original educational certificates, age proof, category certificate, and any other required documents must be produced. Any discrepancy or false information leads to disqualification at this stage. For PwBD and ESM candidates, all qualifying candidates who meet the minimum cut-off may be called for DV.

📌 Document Upload Requirement After CBT

Candidates who qualify in the CBT must upload all required documents on the SSC portal — failure to do so results in summary rejection of candidature. SSC conducts initial scrutiny based on information in the application form — detailed scrutiny is done by the User Department at the time of DV. Each application is accepted provisionally — accuracy of information determines final eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Complete Q&A on SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026?+
The last date to submit the online application is 4 May 2026 at 11:00 PM. The fee payment deadline is 5 May 2026. A correction window is available from 11 May to 13 May 2026 for correcting errors in already submitted forms. Applications open from 13 April 2026 at ssc.gov.in.
How many vacancies are there in SSC Selection Post Phase 14 2026?+
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 has announced 3,003 total vacancies for various Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C posts in central government departments across 10 SSC regions. This is approximately 24% more than Phase 13 (2,423 vacancies). Vacancies are distributed region-wise and post-wise — download the official notification PDF from ssc.gov.in for the detailed breakdown.
Can I apply for multiple posts in SSC Selection Post Phase 14?+
Yes, you can apply for multiple posts, but you must submit a separate online application for each post. Each application requires a separate form fill and separate fee payment (₹100 per application for General/OBC male candidates). If applying for posts at different qualification levels, you will receive separate admit cards for each level and must appear for each exam separately.
What is OTR and is it mandatory for SSC Selection Post Phase 14?+
Yes, OTR (One-Time Registration) is mandatory. Complete it at ssc.gov.in before applying. OTR creates your basic profile (name, DOB, gender, contact details) which is used across all SSC exams. Important: If you were registered on the old SSC portal, those credentials are NOT valid on the new website — you must register fresh on the new ssc.gov.in. OTR is free and takes 5–10 minutes.
Is there negative marking in SSC Selection Post Phase 14?+
Yes — 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer (which equals ¼ of the 2 marks per question). This means 4 wrong answers cost you the equivalent of 1 correct answer. Candidates should avoid random guessing. Skip questions where you have less than ~60% confidence. However, never leave a question you know the answer to — mark it without hesitation.
What is the exam date for SSC Selection Post Phase 14 CBT?+
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for SSC Selection Post Phase 14 is tentatively scheduled for June 2026. The exact date, city intimation slip, and admit card will be released by SSC on ssc.gov.in and regional SSC websites before the exam. Candidates should regularly check the official website for updates.
Is the Skill Test marks-based or qualifying in SSC Selection Post Phase 14?+
The Skill Test (wherever prescribed — Typing/Data Entry/Computer Proficiency) is qualifying in nature. It does NOT add marks to the final merit list. Final selection is based 100% on CBT marks. However, failing the Skill Test eliminates the candidate from further consideration. Only certain posts have a skill test — check the official notification for the specific post you are applying for.
What is the shortlisting ratio for Document Verification in SSC Selection Post Phase 14?+
SSC shortlists candidates for Document Verification as follows: For posts with up to 5 vacancies: top candidates in ratio of 1:30 (30 candidates per vacancy) are called. For posts with more than 5 vacancies: ratio of 1:15 (15 per vacancy), subject to a minimum of 150 candidates being called. For PwBD / PwBD-Others / ESM reserved vacancies, all qualifying candidates meeting the minimum cut-off are shortlisted.
What documents are required for SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Document Verification?+
Typically required originals: (1) Educational qualification certificates (marksheets + degree/board certificate for the qualifying level), (2) Date of birth proof (Matriculation certificate), (3) Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL — issued by competent authority), (4) EWS certificate (if claiming EWS), (5) PwBD certificate (if applicable), (6) ESM discharge certificate (if applicable), (7) Aadhaar Card / Photo ID, (8) Application printout with admit card. Upload copies on SSC portal after CBT — originals at DV.
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 — 10th pass or 12th pass? Which posts can I apply for?+
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 has posts at three levels: Matriculation (10th pass): You can apply for all posts requiring 10th pass qualification. Higher Secondary (12th pass): You can apply for both 10th level and 12th level posts. Graduate: You can apply for all posts across all three levels. However, applying for posts below your qualification level is strategically advisable only if post-specific benefits (location, department) are a priority — because competition is highest at graduation level and many strong candidates apply across all levels.
