Selection Process — Pure Merit, No Written Test
Stage 1 — Merit List Based on Qualifying Marks
Selection is purely merit-based — no written test, no interview. A merit list is prepared for each trade/discipline separately based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination: ITI marks for Trade Apprentice, Diploma marks for Technician, Graduation marks for Graduate Apprentice. Reservation norms as per GoI rules are followed. Every single mark matters — aim for the highest percentage in your ITI/Diploma/Degree.
Stage 2 — Local Candidate Preference (Kakrapar Only)
At Kakrapar Gujarat Site, first preference goes to candidates from neighbouring villages within 16 km radius of the plant site. This is part of NPCIL's CSR commitment to local communities. If adequate local candidates are unavailable, the merit list is extended to outstation applicants. All eligible Indian nationals may apply irrespective of location — local preference does not exclude others.
Stage 3 — Tie-Breaking Rules
When two candidates have identical marks: First criteria — Date of Birth (older candidate preferred) | Second criteria — 10th / Matriculation marks. This applies at both sites. High ITI marks are the single most important factor — prepare well and secure the highest percentage possible in your qualifying trade examination.
Stage 4 — Document Verification and Medical Fitness
Shortlisted candidates must produce all original certificates at document verification: ITI/Diploma/Degree certificate with marksheets, 10th certificate (age proof), category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), Aadhaar Card, NAPS/NATS registration certificate. A Medical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner confirming fitness for industrial work and a Police Verification / Character Certificate are also required before final engagement. 💙
