- One application per discipline — candidates should apply for only one discipline/trade — multiple applications in the same discipline or different disciplines will be rejected
- Enter exact percentage marks in the NATS/NAPS portal — wrong entries discovered at document scrutiny lead to disqualification from the merit list
NCL does not conduct any written examination or interview for apprentice selection. Selection is entirely based on a merit list prepared from marks obtained in the qualifying examination. For Graduate and Diploma: percentage obtained in Degree/Diploma is used. For ITI Trade: average of Class 10 + ITI marks is typically used. For Paramedical: qualifying course percentage. Candidates with equal merit are ranked further by age (older candidate preferred). Merit list is prepared category-wise and discipline-wise and published on www.nclcil.in around 20 June 2026.
Stage 1 — Application & Merit Score Calculation
All applications submitted on NATS/NAPS portals with qualifying exam marks are collated discipline-wise. NCL prepares a merit list based on percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. The merit list is discipline-wise and category-wise (UR, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, PwBD). Candidates whose marks are incorrectly entered on the portal are disqualified at document scrutiny even if they appear on the merit list. Tentative merit list publication: 20 June 2026.
Stage 2 — Document Scrutiny
Shortlisted candidates are called for document scrutiny at NCL offices in Singrauli/Sonbhadra. All original certificates — educational qualification, age proof, caste/disability/EWS certificate, NATS/NAPS enrollment proof, Aadhaar, and paramedical council registration (if applicable) — are verified. Any mismatch between NATS/NAPS-entered marks and original marksheets leads to immediate elimination. The next candidate in the merit list is offered the slot.
Stage 3 — Medical Examination (Mines Rules 1955)
Candidates cleared at document scrutiny must undergo a medical fitness examination as per Mines Rules 1955 at NCL-designated medical centres. This examination is more stringent than regular government job medical checks — mining environment requires candidates to be fit for underground/surface mine work. Vision, hearing, physical fitness, and general health are assessed. Candidates declared medically unfit lose the selection and the slot goes to the next candidate in merit.
Stage 4 — Engagement & Training Commencement
Candidates cleared at all stages sign the apprenticeship contract as per Apprentices Act 1961. Training commences at the respective NCL mine or establishment in Singrauli (MP) or Sonbhadra (UP). Monthly stipend is paid via DBT to the Aadhaar-linked bank account at the end of each month. Training duration is 1 year from the date of engagement.
Graduate & Diploma Apprentices must apply through NATS Portal — nats.education.gov.in
Trade (ITI) & Paramedical Apprentices must apply through NAPS Portal — apprenticeshipindia.gov.in
Applying on the wrong portal means your application will not be considered. There is no crossover — both portals are different government systems. Register on the correct portal first, then search for NCL (Northern Coalfields Limited) Singrauli establishment to apply.
Step 1 — Register on the Correct Portal
If Graduate/Diploma: Visit nats.education.gov.in → Register as a student → Fill complete academic details → Generate NATS Enrollment ID.
If ITI Trade/Paramedical: Visit apprenticeshipindia.gov.in → Register as Candidate → Complete profile with personal and academic details → Generate NAPS Registration Number.
Keep your Aadhaar, marksheets, and bank account details ready for portal registration.
Step 2 — Search for NCL Singrauli and Apply
After registration, login to your portal. Search for "Northern Coalfields Limited" or "NCL Singrauli" in the establishment search. Find the 2026-27 apprenticeship notification for your discipline/trade. Click Apply. Enter your qualification percentage exactly as on your marksheet — do not round up or estimate. Select your discipline carefully — only one application per discipline is allowed.
Step 3 — Upload Documents & Submit
Upload: recent passport-size photograph, scanned Aadhaar, qualifying exam marksheet (Degree/Diploma/ITI) showing marks, and caste/disability certificate if applicable. For Paramedical — also upload council registration certificate. Review all details before final submission. Download and save the application confirmation with your enrollment/application ID. No fee payment required at any stage.
Step 4 — Monitor nclcil.in for Merit List
After 15 June 2026, monitor www.nclcil.in for the tentative merit list (expected around 20 June 2026). If your name appears, prepare all original certificates for document scrutiny. NCL will also notify shortlisted candidates via the NATS/NAPS portal and registered email. Keep your portal profile active and email inbox checked daily after the application closes.
| # | Document | Stage Required |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Recent passport-size photograph (colour, white/light background) | Portal upload + Document Scrutiny |
| 2 | Aadhaar Card — mandatory for portal registration and identity proof at scrutiny | Portal upload + Scrutiny |
| 3 | Class 10 (Matriculation) Marksheet and Certificate — for age/DOB proof and marks (required for ITI merit calculation) | Portal + Scrutiny |
| 4 | Qualifying Exam Marksheet(s) — Degree/Diploma (all semesters)/ITI/Paramedical — showing exact marks percentage in the relevant discipline | Portal upload + Scrutiny |
| 5 | Qualifying Exam Passing/Provisional Certificate — Degree/Diploma/ITI/Paramedical — confirming institute is in UP or MP | Document Scrutiny |
| 6 | NATS Enrollment Certificate / NAPS Registration Certificate — proof of portal registration | Document Scrutiny |
| 7 | Caste Certificate — SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS — in Govt. of India format from Competent Authority — valid for current year | Scrutiny (if applicable) |
| 8 | PwBD Disability Certificate — from UDID portal / Competent Authority — stating type and % of disability | Scrutiny (if applicable) |
| 9 | Paramedical Council Registration Certificate — Nursing Council / Pharmacy Council / Physiotherapy Council etc. | Paramedical applicants only |
| ⚠ At document scrutiny — carry all originals + minimum 2 self-attested photocopies. Marks entered on NATS/NAPS must exactly match the original marksheets. Even a minor discrepancy — decimal difference in percentage — leads to disqualification. Do NOT laminate certificates. Do NOT carry photocopies without originals. | ||
