- Only NCVT or SCVT certified ITI is accepted — private institution certificates without NCVT/SCVT affiliation are rejected
- Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training at any establishment are not eligible under the Apprentices Act
- Enter exact percentage marks from your marksheet on NAPS — wrong entries discovered at document verification lead to disqualification from the merit list

- The NCVT apprenticeship completion certificate from Indian Railways (SECR) is one of the most respected credentials in the industrial sector — preferred by private sector employers in electrical, mechanical, and IT domains
- Practical training at an actual railway workshop and division provides real hands-on experience that classroom ITI cannot replicate
- Many railway apprenticeship completers gain a competitive edge in future RRB / RRC Group D and Technical recruitments due to their work exposure
- Railway apprenticeship on a resume or CV signals discipline, reliability, and structured training — qualities that most employers actively seek
There is no written examination and no interview for SECR Nagpur Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27. Selection is entirely based on a merit score calculated using marks from two documents only: your Class 10 (Matriculation) marksheet and your ITI marksheet. Both are given equal weightage (50% each). The merit score = (Average of 10th marks %) + (Average of ITI marks %) ÷ 2. Candidates with equal merit scores are ranked further using age (older candidate preferred) and other tiebreaker criteria.
| Component | Weightage | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Matriculation (Class 10th) Marks | 50% | Percentage of marks obtained in Class 10 from any recognised Board — aggregate across all subjects |
| ITI Marks (Relevant Trade) | 50% | Percentage of marks obtained in the ITI examination in the specific trade applied for — NCVT or SCVT |
| Merit Score | Total 100 | Average of 10th % and ITI % — higher score = higher rank in trade-wise merit list |
| For Boards awarding grades instead of marks, SECR applies the standard percentage calculation method prescribed by the respective board. Merit list is prepared trade-wise and unit-wise — being in the overall merit list does not guarantee selection for a specific unit. | ||
Application & Merit Score Calculation
All applications submitted on the NAPS portal with 10th and ITI marks are collated. Merit scores are calculated as described above — trade-wise and unit-wise. SECR verifies the downloaded data from NAPS before preparing the merit list. Candidates whose 10th or ITI marks are incorrectly entered are disqualified at this stage itself.
Merit List Publication
A trade-wise and unit-wise merit list is prepared and published on secr.indianrailways.gov.in. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in the order of merit. The number of candidates called for DV is generally equal to the number of vacancies available in each trade and unit — there is no extra buffer shortlisting as in most written exam-based recruitments.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates report to the designated venue with all original documents. Officials verify: 10th marksheet and certificate (DOB proof + marks verification), ITI marksheet and certificate (NCVT/SCVT — trade and marks verification), Aadhaar card, caste certificate (if applicable), and photograph. Any discrepancy between NAPS-entered marks and original marksheets leads to immediate elimination and the next candidate in the merit list is called.
Training Contract & Commencement
Candidates cleared at document verification sign the apprenticeship contract as per the Apprentices Act 1961. Training commences at the respective unit — Nagpur Division or Motibagh Workshop. Apprentices are deployed in the relevant department matching their ITI trade. Monthly stipend of ₹7,700 or ₹8,050 is paid at the end of each month throughout the training period.

Download the full notification PDF from secr.indianrailways.gov.in → What's New section. Read the complete notification carefully — verify your age eligibility (as on 19 May 2026), ITI trade match, and 10th percentage (minimum 50%) before proceeding. Check the trade-wise vacancy table to confirm the specific trade and unit you are applying for.
Register on NAPS Portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in)
Visit www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and click on "Candidate" login. If you are a new user, register by entering your name, Aadhaar number, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID. A registration ID and password will be created. Complete your profile by filling in all personal and educational details — including 10th marks and ITI marks accurately as per your marksheets.
Search for SECR Nagpur Establishment & Apply
After logging in, search for South East Central Railway (SECR) — Nagpur Division or Motibagh Workshop in the establishment search. Find the JTGLCCE-2026-27 apprentice notification for the specific trade you are eligible for. Click Apply. Enter your 10th and ITI marks exactly as on your official marksheets. Do not round off or estimate — only actual figures are accepted.
Upload Documents on NAPS Portal
Upload all required documents in the specified format: passport-size photograph, 10th marksheet, ITI marksheet and certificate (NCVT/SCVT), Aadhaar card, and caste certificate (if SC/ST/OBC). All uploads must be clear and legible — blurry scans cause rejection at document verification even if you clear the merit list. Review uploads before final submission.
Submit Application & Save Confirmation
Review all entered information carefully — especially 10th percentage and ITI percentage — before final submission. After submission, download and print the application confirmation. Note your application/registration number. No application fee needs to be paid. Monitor secr.indianrailways.gov.in regularly for merit list publication and DV call letter. Do not contact the railway office for status — all information is published on the website only.
| # | Document | Stage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Recent passport-size photograph (colour, white background) | NAPS upload + DV |
| 2 | Aadhaar Card — mandatory for NAPS registration and identity proof at DV | NAPS upload + DV |
| 3 | Class 10 (Matriculation) Marksheet — showing aggregate marks (minimum 50%) — also serves as Date of Birth proof | NAPS upload + DV |
| 4 | Class 10 Passing Certificate — from the respective Board | DV only |
| 5 | ITI Marksheet — in the relevant designated trade — showing trade and percentage of marks (NCVT/SCVT) | NAPS upload + DV |
| 6 | ITI Passing Certificate / NCVT / SCVT Certificate — clearly showing trade name and certification authority | DV only |
| 7 | Caste Certificate — SC/ST/OBC — issued by Competent Authority in Government of India format | DV only (if applicable) |
| 8 | PwD Certificate — if claiming disability age relaxation | DV only (if applicable) |
| 9 | Ex-Serviceman Discharge Certificate — if claiming age relaxation | DV only (if applicable) |
| ⚠ At document verification — carry all originals + minimum 2 self-attested photocopies of each document. The marks entered on the NAPS portal must exactly match the original marksheets. Any mismatch — even in the third decimal of percentage — is treated as discrepancy and leads to disqualification. The next candidate in merit is then called in your place. | ||
