How to Apply Online 

Step 1: Visit the Official UPSC Online Portal

• Open the official UPSC online application website

• Use a stable internet connection

• Read the notification carefully before starting

Applications are accepted only through the official UPSC online system

Step 2: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)

UPSC uses a One-Time Registration (OTR) system.

In this step, candidates need to:

• Enter basic personal details

• Provide contact information

• Upload a recent photograph and signature

• Create login credentials

Once OTR is completed, the same account can be used for future UPSC exams.

Step 3: Log in and Select Civil Services Examination 2026

• Log in using OTR credentials

• Choose Civil Services Examination 2026 from the active examinations list

• Start filling the online application form

Step 4: Fill Personal and Educational Details

Carefully enter:

• Name (as per Class 10 certificate)

• Date of birth

• Gender and category

• Educational qualification details

Ensure all details match your official documents.

Step 5: Choose Examination Centre and Preferences

• Select Preliminary examination centre from the available list

• Enter service preferences (IAS, IFS, IPS, etc.) as required

• Choose optional subject (this can be changed later as per rules)

Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Upload scanned copies of:

• Recent passport-size photograph

• Signature

Files should:

• Be clear and readable

• Match the size and format mentioned in the application instructions

Step 7: Pay the Application Fee

Application fee can be paid through:

• Online methods (Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, Net Banking)

• Offline mode (as allowed)
